Hey everyone, Didn't know if this had been brought up already but saw a great preview for a new show coming on Oct 2 on the Travel Channel called Airport 24/7. First episode takes place at Miami Int'l Airport and even features a trip by the President to the Miami area. Check out the link for photos and clips, looks like it'll be a good show! http://www.travelchannel.com/airport247

How does your sim model compare? I came across some interesting discussions on the pilot forums regarding this and the consensus was the 737 and 727!! I'm currently working on a new cockpit update for DM's VC10 which amongst other hot updates involves not only recreating compressor sound as heard from the cockpit but also the sound of the avionics and aircon fans. The VC10 actually has a quiet cockpit in that the engines even at full tilt can only be heard as a background noise. The aircon and avionics fans almost drown the engines out. Sitting away from the windows and you hear little or no wind noise. Concorde in comparison had no wind noise "when the visor was u…

I have just launched FSXDB.com. The goal is simple "Fast FSX Airport Search". I feel it's a great online resource for browsing/searching all the Airports in FSX. Some Examples @ FSXDB.com Did you know there are airports with Plank, Steel Matt, Brick and Coral Surfaces? Some interesting airport names: The Funny Farm, To Short, Beer, Bong, Answered Prayer, You can search Microsoft Flight Simulator X airport data by ICAO Code, Airport Name, Country, City, State, Runway Length, Elevation, Surface Type. Details page includes Runways, Com, VOR, NDB Frequencies and a Google Map. BTW, Looking for developer for an FSX addon to integrate with this site. See details h…

Imagine sitting 3 hours on a flight next to this one. She was erratic when she got on the plane and continued throughout the entire flight, she took out a nail file and threatened passengers, at one point she tried to get into the Flight Deck. Caribbean Airlines didn't take preventive action against her:

All In crosswind GA training I was taught to use less flap in a crosswind landing to reduce the amount of float at the flare. Given that you're not supposed to have any float landing a liner does the same thing apply (with consequent higher speed), or do you use normal landing flap? (or does it depend..?) Cheers Mike

So i was thinking yesterday about this. Apparently theres a part of the ocean over by the mediterranean sea or somewhere around there that has no wind. Lets say that you are in a yatch sailing along and out of the sudden ur engines fail and u cant use ur sails cuz theres no wind. Now, if you had a handheld radio like the ICOM IC-A6, tune it to 121.5 and transmit for help, would a jetliner flying above receive your radio transmission? Im curious as to if this would work and its been too long since i studied the subject to remember. I know the radio waves bounce off the ionosphere but thats it. Anybody have a take on this? Cheers

QANTAS Airways management today announced a shock $244 Million AUD loss for the financial year, citing higher fuel costs, transformation and industrial disputes as factors. It is the first time the airline has post a loss since it privatised in 1995. By comparison, in the previous financial year, QANTAS declared a profit of $250 Million AUD. QANTAS also declared its international operation was the only part of the QF Group to post a loss ($450 Million AUD), and thus decisions need to be made. The most significant, is the cancellation of the ordered fleet of 35 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, worth approximately $8.5 Billion dollars.

So, looking for a new brainless diversion on my Ipad, I come across Plague incorporated, which is part of a fairly new genre apparently started by the game Pandemic and the sequel Pandemic 2 The object of the game is to evolve and propagate as a plague/pandemic and totally erase mankind from the earth. Strategy's include starting in poor third world countries so as to avoid notice for as long as possible, and then evolving in such a way as to thwart containment and the search for a cure until its too late. Does anyone out there besides me find this whole concept kinda..... Macabre? Just my eyebrow raiser for today.

I have been keeping an intermittent eye on a company in Germany called Festo AG for the last few years, mostly because they have a tendency to do really cool things for kind of obscure reasons. Perhaps they are just a bunch of really cool people! Anyway, I thought to check on them again today, and it struck me maybe there are people here who have never heard of or seen the amazing flying/swimming "things" these people come up with from time to time. They have an entire menagerie of air and water critters and other things at this point, and I recommend seeking out some of their other videos since I can only post 2. Its pretty amazing. (Check out the air Penguin and the…

Folks, Is anyone aware of any flight sim related organizations that may be looking for some computer hardware? I have the following, and would like to donate it to a worthy flight sim cause: ASUS P8Z68-V Pro/Gen 3 Mobo with Intel i7 2600K proc @ 3.4Ghz 8GB RipJaws-X DDR-3 - 2133 EVGA 470GTX 1TB Hard Drive Again, looking to give this stuff to a truly worthy organization that has done alot to enhance the hobby, with asking little in return. I only ask that the organization pay for shipping, which shouldn't be too much. PM me, or post a note to this thread. I'm leaving on a 4 day trip, but will be checking the forum as I can. I will look at the suggestions…

I always liked this concept so it is good to see Airbus talking about it. Simple concept to save fuel and it already works in nature, nothing new really as Military Aircraft have been flying formations since WW1: http://www.stuff.co.nz/travel/international/7632157/Airbus-line-up-a-new-way-to-travel
