  1. Hey guys, I'm releasing for free the gaugepack for cessna 172 fsx/fs2004, each gauge runs individualy and makes a link with the simulator using FSUIPC. Ferfect if you use a second monitor or have a second pc running WIDEFS. Check here and leave your doubts or sugestions: http://gaugesmith.blogspot.com.br/ Regards. Tasso.

I know this isn't a 737NGX but it is a twin -- I thought some of you might be interested in this news story: "South Korean regulators are investigating Asiana Airlines following a 19 April incident in which the crew of a Boeing 767-300 aircraft did not divert after they observed a warning with the aircraft's port-side engine. One hour into a Seoul Incheon-Saipan flight, the crew observed a warning light relating to one of the aircraft's two General Electric CF6 engines, says a statement from South Korea's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport. The crew reduced the engine's power, but the warning light remained on. Rather than divert to an airport in Japan, t…

Hello fellow flighsimmers, A acquaintance of mine recently put together and made available a web site for creation of european IFR routings, aimed at real-world IFR pilots. The site is easy to use and does generate highly efficient routes that are validated against up to date rules from Eurocontrol, so if you're flying in real life too these routes will be accepted happily by the European flight plan submission system. The site offers various export formats for generated flight plans, and I was allowed to add an export function to FSX/FS9 and X-Plane flight plan formats. Registering for an account is free and will remain so, so we invite any of you that are intere…

At SimReviewsHouse: http://www.simreviewshouse.com/?post_type=reviews&p=1112 For serious IFR flight training nothing can compare to ELITE, in the PC. I have long been using this simulator, version 8.6 brought some new and welcome features but I really look forward for V9, which will be available this year! Recently a friend who is starting is IFR certification, and is now using an RC-1 ELITE simulator at his flying school has kindly sent me is exercises so that I can use them with my ELITE PC 8.6 at home - whow! It's been real fun, specially the debrief phase and looking at your errors... ELITE models features which are unique among the many flight sim…

Did you read about the delays last week from a system glitch with the ATC computers in Los Angeles? Looks like FSX is even more realistic than we thought. Ever get an OOM when using FSX ATC in high scenery, high air traffic areas? Try reading into this real life incident from last week in Southern California and neighboring states: http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/05/05/faa-los-ngeles-flight-problems-u-2/8745135/ Perhaps this should be moved to the Crash to Desktop (CTD) Forum <grin>.

Wandering the web and bumped into some storm photos from a while ago in Pensacola Florida. Never seen anything like this, and if I was under it, I'd be pretty intimidated. Definitely time to go indoors. (don't know what the heck these people are waiting for) And imagine flying through that.......

  10. We are about to kick off our 2014 User Demographic Survey; an AVSIM annual event. We need a survey guru with experience in the field to manage the questions and answers this year. We also need that person to create other surveys that we can run on our leased survey system. If you are interested in the position and have experience in creating surveys, I would like to hear from you. Please PM me with your background in the field of surveys. This is a volunteer position of course. We will close the applications period on 25 May.

  14. While on a layover in MSP, I visited The Mall of America near the hotel. On my way to the food court, on the third floor, I noticed this gem—A.C.E.S. From the Mall of America website, it reads: The simulators you fly at A.C.E.S. are the same models we designed and built for the world‘s largest defense contractor. Our Aerodome series of flight simulators, with the wrap-around view, gives you the feeling that you are actually flying a real airplane. And you are doing 100% of the flying... this is no "ride"! Best of all, you can choose between today's modern F/A-18 Hornet jet fighter, or legendary WWII flighters. Or fly both! It's great fun to compare fighter aircra…

  15. Hello, During the evening hours at home I like to fly using my iPad-- which is the device I have purchased all the extra planes and regions on. I downloaded Infinite Flight to my iPhone and am not able to restore any of the purchases. I click on the restore purchases, enter in my apple password but then it doesn't update or do anything. Does this imply that I need to purchase the planes/regions separately for each device? Thanks

  16. Sometimes I just have to chuckle with (not at) our Canadian brethren. I thought and hoped that AVSIM was universally available, but now our Canadian bros are taking it a step further. Have a read of this: http://time.com/80472/canada-wifi-national-parks/?hpt=hp_t3# Well done Canada! I can hardly wait for selfies taken in the woods with a lap tap and the AVSIM front page showing clear (sans bears of course)!

So for $40,000 you could join as a passenger. My Grandfather was a navigator on one so I would love to but don't have $40k....so donations are appreciated  Here is the news story: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/hamilton/news/got-40k-you-could-cross-the-atlantic-in-a-lancaster-bomber-1.2630060

  19. I couldn't find a specific forum support thread so I'll mention it here. Is the list of recent forum topics both on the Avsim front page and the list at the top of the forums broke (missing many topics)? There seems to be a bunch of topics that never make it to the list - almost as if the entire "Commercial Forums" section or more, is being ignored. Specifically, PMDG's recent updates by RSR this weekend were never on the list, let alone any other PMDG topics. Yes, I have been logged-in while noting this issue. I think the 'recent topics lists' may need some attention. Thanks.

Hi all. I've had a newsletter from Flightstore telling me that there's a new range of ITVV flight films retailing for a little under half the previous price. It's enough to make me consider buying a few (I have a sad shortage of flying DVDs) but I can't find any trailers or samples. I suppose copyright is in play there. How good are they in terms of sound & picture quality, and depth of info? If they're worth buying I'm very tempted to get the lot and I'll put a pointer to them in the Bargain Hunters' forum too. Cheers, Dave

Hey guy I just did my first night dual flight at Ardmore, NZ, without taxi or landing lights as required by the CAA for the rating. Everything was great, well... Orbiting over the economic capital of a country is a huge bonus, but landing when your only reference is 50 AGL "due to the slope, the runway end lights disappear at this height" is quite tricky. My landings were good but not as smooth as my daylight ones. I know that I should use my side windows for height and the front one for track during the flare, but kinda hard to do 90 degrees vision turns every second during such a critical phase of the flight. - Do you have any tips that could help me ? -…
