http://aerowinx.com/forum/topic.php?id=1551 Unique! HH did it again - it was well worth the wait.... This might bring me back to civil flight simulation, although I have somehow lost interest in it... :-/ I own PS1, although it's been years since I last used it. It was nonetheless the best airline simulation I ever used, among everything I have used with MSFS, recently X-Plane. Hardy takes simulation of the 744 to the extreme, and this new version has extended the simulation of the World in such a way that it will bring a few very important features even in the simulation of the atmosphere, never before seen in a civil flightsim, including the most sophis…

Has anybody gotten the "Astronaut" achievement? You have to fly up to 328,000 feet. In my attempts I can reach 145,000+ ft and am still doing Mach 1.0 and climbing at 66,000+ ft/min when the software crashes.

I have been experiencing spark plug fouling in almost all of my T-28 flights at cruise alt. I learned that I have to keep the CHT at an acceptable temp, which is not too hot and too cold, also. That includes managing MAP and cowl flaps like every time at almost all phases of flights, even on the ground. I have to make periodic change in mixture every hour. I am having a lot of fun, but confused at the same time, especially the concept behind MAP. I might set the MAP too low in high RPM, but how? What did I do? Did I decrease the prop when the throttle is in high RPM? What should I do to make a proper adjustment to the MAP since in my understanding, MAP and RPM are in conj…

I've been "lurking" around, looking for the news on both FSX and X-Plane platforms. I have given up using both for quite a while now. P3Dv2 was my last Civil sim, but I returned it in time to get the refund and invest on yet another Combat Flight Simulator - Rise of Flight. I was initially very renitent about using combat flightsims. I don't ( didn't ) like the concept, DCS was my first incursion in that territory, mainly due to the need to find a good prop flight dynamics model like the one available for their P51d, now also T51d, and then came the helicopters, which are also superbly modeled on that platform. But DCS is too complex for me, specially when it co…

Night Flying Spectacular, safe with proper knowledge, training, and judgment By Robert N. Rossier You sit in the darkness at the end of the runway and carefully check the instruments and gauges in the soft glow of the cockpit lights. Ahead, two rows of runway lights lead into the star-studded sky. Pondering your departure, you wonder what's really waiting for you in the darkness. Virtually every aspect of flying at night is different from the clear light of day. The aircraft is more difficult to inspect. The cockpit takes on an air of unfamiliarity as it fades in the dim red glow of the panel lights. Weather becomes more important, as does flight planning and attentio…

An Interesting Read: The under Belly of the gorgeous Dubai we see in FSX https://www.facebook.com/drsubramanianswamy/photos/a.118146701658320.18858.107229389416718/323782171094771/?type=1 There are three different Dubais, all swirling around each other. There are the expats, there are the Emiratis, headed by Sheikh Mohammed; and then there is the foreign underclass who built the city, and are trapped here. They are hidden in plain view. You see them everywhere, in dirt-caked blue uniforms, being shouted at by their superiors, like a chain gang – but you are trained not to look. It is like a mantra: the Sheikh built the city. The Sheikh built the city. Workers?…

When I tell people about my recent experience of being stuck at Dulles for 10 hours, before my brother and I decided to just can our trip because we would have had to a: make yet another connecting flight into either Paris, or Frankfurt and then basically having one day in Dublin, then having to book it to London without really having done anything in Dublin. The next direct flight was two days away and no way either of us were spending two days in an airport. They treat me like I'm stupid for being ticked that United wasted 19 hours of my life. Not to mention wasted a couple 1000$, that I sank into a vacation that never happened. I'm sorry, if I offend people by being t…

I've been using FSx for some years now and lately I've lost interest in it. The whole point of the simulation is to fly from one point to another and land it. I guess the only joy for me is taking off, descent and approach. I really appreciate the realism that is invested in this software as but I've just lost interest because it doesn't seem interesting anymore. I've been flying PMDG's 737 NGX and it is indeed beautifully crafted, but it just doesn't seem fun anymore. Just trying to see if I'm the only one experiencing this and if there are any suggestions in how I can make it fun to fly again. Takayoshi

I threw this topic here as I couldn't figure out where else it might belong. It arises from another but I think it begs its own space as it would seem to be a topic which should stand alone. I was reading the transcript of an interview with the renowned John Venema today having been pointed in its direction. It's a good read if you have the time but the part of it which caught my attention and piqued my curiosity was the following: John: "We can now execute and continue to execute well to create the environments that we want to experience ourselves eight years ago. If there’s any innovation that we want to go from here, it would be around creating an experience in…

Hi Guys I'm trying to learn some more advanced flight operations, and am pretty used to programming a route into the FMC and using SIDs / STARs etc. However I've just seen something for the first time. I'm mid flight and planning my approach into Montreal 06L, and I have programmed in my desired runway and STAR Here you can see the STAR (CARTER1) Now, after PEKLO there is no "link" to the next waypoint of XULTA, and the chart says that you would expect vectors to final approach. So, in the FMC I see this: The approach looks like this on the plan: So, in real life, once you pass PEKLO, you would continue on that heading until …
