I don't know where to post this so I put it here...) Hi, today I was just looking at the dovetail website. There was a report about the British Prime Minister visiting Dovetail Games. The british government wants to help small businesses to grow into medium size businesses and will support them with better funding. Dovetail Games is working on a new flight simulator. In conclusion: The Brit.government supports the development of a new flight simulator! B)

Maybe somebody knows - apparently in version 1.1 of Flightbeam Dulles, they added a John McClane figure in two locations, for the fun of it (reference to Die Hard 2) I searched for it many times but could never found it - does anybody perhaps know where to look for it? Also, does anybody know if it was still included in version 1.2 and up?

In a typical month? I'm talking PC12, B200, Bizjets etc I'm getting some really nice payware airports and I'm trying to use them as realistically as I can. I don't fly regular iron (737/A320 etc) I know most charter flights generally land at the smaller airports around the majors. Here is another way to word the same question: What is the smallest plane I can realistically fly in/out of a major airport? (KORD, KMCO, KTPA, KFLL, KMIA, KSEA, KLAX, KDEN, KPHX, KIAH, KDFW, KBOS, etc)

I am looking to buy some new payware products and have been looking around to see what is out there. What I see surprises me. Airports I was looking at some payware airports and surprised to see that developers are now modelling (in ultra high detail) areas of the airport you just don't see (or see that well) when sitting in a plane either at the gate or taking-off/landing/taxiing. For example some sceneries have modelled the inside of terminals in high detail including seats and luggage carousels while others have pimped up the departure drop-off stands with highly detailed road signs and clutter. Orbx sceneries have non-flight related signage (don't drop litter …

After watching the Ethiopian Airlines Flight 961 investigation it made me think of a design which could prevent such incidents occurring in the foreseeable future. If there was a button on the MCP, a capped button with a red shield with a button inside the shield which wouldn't be mistaken for another button on the autopilot system. Once the button is pressed the aircraft would automatically squawk 7500 and the autopilot would lock a certain altitude, heading and speed (most likely best endurance speed) The only way to gain manual control of the aircraft again would be by entering a code into the FMC which would disengage the autopilot and resume the system to it's progra…

Hi all! So I've been doing a lot of reading on The forums, trying to find as much info as I can to make informed decisions regarding which addons to purchase (have a recently built relatively high-end PC). I've quickly found out what a lot of you already knew: prettying up and expanding FSX can be costly... So one one hand I don't want to wait forever to get the addons I like, but I would also like to avoid selling my house to get them So I know there is bargains forum, and I already subscribed to it, but what I want to know, that those of you with lots of time simming will probably already know is: Based on your experience in the recent years, how …

I have just learn't the MDR chapter of navigation and i thought i grasped the basics, but i was wrong! Once i got the mock questions at the end i didn't have a clue. It seems i'm lost with the clock code method. Here the question and answers... You plan to fly a cross country flight at 2,000 feet at a true airspeed of 120 knots. Your track is 270* (TRUE) and the wind is from 225* (TRUE) at 24 knots using the mental dead reckoning clock code, what true heading would you steer and what would be your magnetic heading if the local magnetic variaton is 4* west? A. 258 TRUE 262 MAGNETIC B. 261 TRUE 265 MAGNETIC C. 261 TRUE 257 MAGNETIC D. 279 TRU…

Good evening, I was in training today at CDG.... I saw an A380 Emirates. We could see that the APU was on (the air was coming out behind, kind of air "waves"). But the engines were not turning!!!! I asked my teacher why the engines were not turning and he said the starter was not started (or compressed air not going to the accessory gear box - AGB). But I think that there was not enough compressed air (N not at 100%)... 1) Is my "teacher" right? Because the APU can not work if the starter is not ON! 2) Where is the compressed air taken? Is it after the APU BLEED Valve or are there other pipes from the compressor to the AGB? So If you start APU (+star…

http://www.sanantonio.gov/SSF In December, Stinson Municipal Airport marks the 100th year since its founding. Today, the second-oldest continuously operating airport in the US, Stinson is San Antonio’s primary reliever for general aviation traffic and home to several businesses including Palo Alto College, Alamo Helicopter Tours, Texas Air Museum and Sky Safety. Over the last century, from its site near San Antonio Missions, Stinson has witnessed the history of aviation, from barnstormers to jets, and the history of San Antonio, from military outpost to today’s city on the rise. Started by a pioneering aviation family, the air…

I know, i know.... i should really know better after all these years, but alas, my memory ain't what it once woz;-) Sort of two questions in one really. A what and why? So... The logic behiond why most SPs are NEVER to use speed brakes AND flap simultaneously....? Is it primarily because the disruption of airflow and lift is too severe under such conditions? If so, then why does the aircraft logic circuit allow it happen? Th, th, thats all folks;-)

I have noticed that there is a permanent TFR (would it be a TFR if it is permanent?) just east of DFW airport for "VIP movement". It is this tiny little circle that only goes up to 1500 feet AGL. Does anyone from that area know what that is for? Is there a theme park there or something? I know both Disney World and Disneyland get TFRs over their parks. http://tfr.faa.gov/save_pages/detail_9_2934.html
