Saw this in my wanderings about the web: http://sploid.gizmodo.com/first-photos-of-the-largest-airplane-ever-now-in-manufa-1688085252 Absolutely gigantic! The scale from the pictures with people is mind-boggling.

Hi all, I *think* this would be the forum, as it doesn't really fit on the other specific ones, so here goes... I've only recently started to actually play around with FSX, and did a vanilla install first, following a sensible guide to just start smart and simple. After that, I wanted to see what I can get with it, to make it a little nicer. So I start looking at addons, try to read a lot, see what's best for what I want, etc. Considering whether VFR or regular "layers" would tickle my fancy more, etc. Bought a few "essentials" that would go nice no matter what route you take (i.e. Mesh) and also decide to try a few. So I got some megascenery first, and also the …

From the Flying Mag website: Researchers in Germany have connected a robotic arm to the cockpit section of an airplane to create perhaps the world's most realistic flight simulator. Designed by aeronautics firm DLR, the simulator uses a large mechanical arm built by KUKA, a pioneer in robotics and automation technology, to swing a Diamond DA40/42 around a virtual sky and runways and taxiways. Dovetail's initiative brought me FSX back, gave me a stable sim so far, I am able to use, now, all of my add-ons with the only exception of ASN, but I know HifiTech will soon sort it out :-) Steam, a platform I very reluctantly adhered to for the first time to buy MS FLIGHT DLCs, and latter Aerofly FS and even il2-CloD, is a great game support platform, makes everything so easy and smooth as silk, that I didn't really have to think twice about buying FSX-SE. The upcoming DLCs, starting with the recently announced "Dangerous Approaches" are certainly on my to-buy list because I am sure some of them will give me great times, and be even more challenging and el…

A couple of weeks ago, a relatively brand new A321 from Brazilian airline TAM flew into stormy weather, whilst on climb to cruise. It appears the aircraft was hit by lightning and as it turned to return to the departure aerodrome, it entered an area of hail which cause the windscreen to shatter, and put significant damage to the airframe. The aircraft made a succesful landing. Public Twitter link: http://twitter.com/vargasmoni/status/565271993529139201/photo/1

I'm wondering if anyone knows how to stop the MegaSceneryEarth "40% off" emails. I've tried replying with unsubscribe multiple times as well as contacting them directly from their website but nothing seems to work--they just keep coming. Maybe a contact number or email? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am following Air Canada 873 EDDF to CYYZ and, normally, it follows a NAT. Just now, it doesn't look as if it has followed any of the NATs but has travelled about 500 nm further north than the present NATA. Since, I understand, the NATs are chosen as the most fuel efficient routes, what could be the reason for going so much further north? As an afterthought, is it possible that NATA was that much further north when the flight started but has since been adjusted southwards? Can it change that much in approximately 6 hours?

Is anyone else seeing a vertical colum of moving/changing ads on the right side of the Avsim pages called HOT DEALS? They cover about 1/4 width of the page on the right side. There is an arrow that you can click on and they move off to the right of the page, but then there is a left arrow that will bring them back in view. Each time you go to a different page in the forums, they appear again in full view. You have to click on the right arrow to get rid of them again. Very anoying. Or am I the only one seeing this? So far, I only see them on the Avsim site. Never mind. I found a little box at the bottom of the colum with the gear sign and I clicked on it to reveal an OPt…

Hey pilots, do you know that, you want to fly online and you're thinking, where do go. Checking of ATC stations and trying to choose an airport with plenty of traffic, is not seldom one of the initial steps. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't and no aircraft nor atc is roughly nearby. What I am trying to say is: Why we don't fly together? We can arrange flights and perform them. I personally have time early/late in the morning, weekdays, and there is no much traffic at this time. When we could localize our flights, as far as I concern, everything would be a bit more realistic and probably more fun. At least we would've some more traffic on our TCAS. Anoth…

Cascade Game Foundry (CGF) is thrilled to announce two additions to their Infinite Scuba game: a new Dr. Sylvia Earle avatar and a new Belize dive site. Dr. Earle, called "Her Deepness" by the New Yorker and the New York Times, is a legendary oceanographer, environmentalist, a National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence, and the founder of Mission Blue (http://missionblue.org), a global initiative dedicated to raising public awareness about critical marine issues. "Mission Blue is delighted to partner with Cascade Game Foundry on Infinite Scuba," says Dr. Earle. "Experiencing the beauty, mystery, and fragility of the ocean in such a hands-on way will inspire the peo…

Hi! Welcome to our first-ever forum for Infinite Scuba, our new reality-based scuba-diving game! I'm Kathie Flood, the Managing Director of Cascade Game Foundry (CGF), and the other moderator is Russ Glaeser, CGF's Development Director. We look forward to meeting you and finding out what you think of our new game, which will release very shortly. Scuba may seem like an odd fit for AVSIM, but most of the people at CGF worked on Flight Sim and Train Sim, as well as on racing and sports games in the Microsoft Games Studios, and we are thrilled to be here. Thank you for visiting! Kathie Flood ps: We are new to forum moderation, so please be pa…

Hi folks, I stumbled upon this interesting story on CNN. We hear about the famous aircraft graveyard in Arizona, the "Boneyard", all the time. Here is one airframe that was pulled out of long term storage and flown to replace a fire damaged aircraft. http://www.cnn.com/2015/02/21/us/arizona-b-52-restored/index.html

I have no clue at all where a topic like this should be posted, so I am just posting it here... I use PFPX to create flightplans. I then copy the plan into a text file (Notepad, Windows 8.1) and then drop the file in Dropbox. This way I can easily open the file in Dropbox on my iPad (Air 2) which makes it very easy to enter date into the Airbus MCDU (P3D 2.5) and to check where I am etc. So far so good. I suddenly have a problem though: the plans looked great on the iPad, with all spaces and tabs etc. in the right places (using the Courier font), so the plan looked exactly as it does in PFPX. Very easy to use. However, after reinstalling Windows 8.1 and dropping …

I've recently dabbled with saving my previous flights, in an attempt to get some sort of realism. Of course my A2A planes keep the same state as they were left, and this got me thinking about one or two of the bush planes I fly on short haul routes. My thinking is, that if I save each flight, I save all of the switch and radio settings as well as the fuel state, which means that if I fail to shut down properly or do a thorough checklist on start up, I may well miss some crucial detail, like being too low on fuel or having left the flaps down. These sorts of things happen all the time to real pilots. Obviously I would update the time and weather to suit the current situati…
