I just flew the scenic route 4 times. First in AF 2 on my tablet, then in FSX with Aerosoft San Francisco X, then in my AF 2 PC version, and finally in FSW. I liked the FSW version the best. AeroFly 2 has very high FPS but it seems way too sterile. FSX has micro pauses, low FPS and was constantly redrawing scenery. The tablet version did not compete that well with the others either, although it is great for travelling. I like the logged flights of FSW, the handling of the planes and the populated world. FTX Global is a bonus. I imported my Photo Real cities easily as well. As it is very similar to FSX I think this one will be a winner with current FSX owners.

Now that Alabeo and Carenado are rolling out batches of updated aircraft for P3Dv4, I've realized what a mistake that I made when I bought Alabeo and Carenado aircraft from third party sellers, namely FSPilotShop and The FlightSim Store. Neither seller has updated their user downloads for the Alabeo and Carenado aircraft. Neither seller has responded to my e-mail requests for those updated files and serial numbers. I have a been a loyal paying customer to both companies over a span of years, but neither company has the decency to respond to polite e-mail requests or to support products that they sold to me. I bought virtually the entire Orbx/FTX catalog through …

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4656588/Qatar-Airways-flies-rescue-strike-hit-BA.html This makes things interesting, with Qatars business product far more better than BA I'm surprised BA has let them do it. It's a shame Virgin hasnt got a spare floating around Branson would of love to poked at BA.

Hi guys, Given what I perceive as an incredible bias towards FSX/P3D coverage by this group, I am wondering if there is an equivalent daily news coverage by an equally biased entity which covers the rest of the sim world.and excludes FSX and P3D? Please do not misunderstand me .... I am a P3Dv3 and v4 owner and appreciate the news for those two platforms but I also own XPlane10 and 11, DCS and Aeroflyfs2 an these get no coverage at all from Airdaily news. I do not understand why they do not change their name to my topic title (at least it is honest) or at least admit that other platforms exist. I do however, still crave news about the other platforms…

Boeing has presented a sketch of the proposed 797 - twin aisle middle market airplane. It appears to be the size of the 757-200 and would seat between 220-270 pax. Looking forward to seeing her fly one day. http://money.cnn.com/2017/06/20/news/companies/boeing-797-paris-first-peek/index.html

It is my understanding that there are a lot of developers of add-on software who read these posts. This post is primarily for them. Of course, it is also for my fellow simmers. I am writing this in frustration. I ask, is my frustration reasonable, or am I asking for too much. For those who do not know me, I am almost 70 years old. I attended pilot training in 1972 and after my military flying career, I continued to fly GA aircraft until I lost my medical over ten years ago. I am a retired business owner. During my business career, I made enough money to retire comfortably, travel and purse my two hobbies; simulation and photography. I consider myself fortunate in tha…

There's also one change that went into update 3 that we forgot to mention, which is the ability to change aircraft mid flight. So if you press escape, then head to the flight planner you should be able to switch aircraft and pick up where you left off. Read on for…

How often and in what phases are cockpit dome lights used in a real airliner? Are these turned on during cruise? My guess is they hinder eye vision outside the window during night and might not be a preference except when aircraft is parked at gate. Are there any restrictions as well on use of dome lights?

In my copy of the sim altimeters show an altitude of approx. 850 ft at New Zealand's Milford Sound airport (NZMF) whilst in reality it's at sea level. I've tried several aircraft and pressed 'B' to make sure that there's no error due to the wrong pressure being set but it makes no difference. I've not added any scenery so the scenery.cfg is original. I reported it a few days ago but I'm curious to see if anyone else can reproduce it. FWIW in FSX:SE there's no error.

Probably been asked before but if is there anyone here who has converted a lot of their FSX Orbyx scenery over what advantages there are in doing that rather than continuing flying it in FSX. Are there any elevation issues?

Ive modified the Just flight R44 to suit the average Northern Australian needs(ie mustering cattle) If you own a copy of the Just flight R44 pack and you would like a copy, I can send you a the 2 MDL files only so you can fly solo without any doors like most Northern Australians do Ive saved these mdls in the p3d v2 format, so Im not sure if it will run in FSX, but you can try your luck if you havent seen heli mustering before I suggest you check out these links, heli mustering is the highest cause of helicopter related deaths in Australia, and you will see why https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbMudWaYeXo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xogzeJD6cGg & …

Hey guys this is a question for those of you who are experienced with air breathing props. At what altitude (generally) does it begin to be hard to start one? I have been flying Cessnas and the DC-3 into some high altitude terrain and pushing the limits. I always decrease the mixture accordingly but when I land at an airport of 7000+ MSL I cant get the engine restarted after I kill it. Any pointers ? Or have I just reached the limits for those type of engines?

I was asked if I could post this .... Hi ZS Just to let you know that I received this email from Stephen B this morning..... ----- June 22 2017 From: ********@nexgenflightsim.com Re new sim - volunteer Hi ***, After two years of negotiating with Diamond Visionics for use of their engine and never coming to an agreeable point, I felt we had lost our window of opportunity with the likes of Prepar3D v4 and X-Plane 11 (as well as others) being released, so we have closed up shop. There are, in my opinion, two simulators available that you should keep an eye on and support any way that you can. The first is X-Plane 11, arguably the best current simu…

I have done a few flights from KIAH to KDFW and about 75% of the time I am able to capture the LOC... I'm not sure why sometimes its not capturing. What am I doing wrong? I am landing at 17C (ILS Cat II) AT KDFW.... Using the BEREE1 STAR and ILS 17C approach... at the last waypoint in the star which is HEDMN, I then vector myself to the next waypoint. So I turn the HDG SEL to 207 and press it, my plane starts banking left, I then precede to wait until the heading is around 300 or so then I hit the LOC button.... but it doesn't capture it.... I had to to manually turn the HDG SEL to the right and then it finally capture the LOC. Is my timing off, or is this a b…

I've seen a lot of videos on YouTube of people doing this famous landing and I would love to give it a try. With that being said, what is the best way to set up the flight plan in order to practice this landing? Would I start my flight from VHHH? I would like to the quickest and easiest method so that I can continuously load up the plane to practice this. If anyone know what routes to enter into the CDU, I would appreciate it.

Again like my recent FSX vs FSW Piper Cub comparison vid, this is not the most scientific of comparisons either, since one is in early access and the other one is a released product, but kind of fun to check out anyway. So... Here is a video of P3D V4 Academic Version (and yup, I do own a training school where I teach people on software, so I am legit as far as that EULA goes in having the Academic version lol) and FSW Early Access (with the third update). Both show a quick flight from EGCC to EGCD in the Virtavia UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter (the one in FSW is my payware version, the one in P3D is a default aircraft which comes with the sim). Both sims are on broadly …

Though this Evans & Sutherland CT5 was once millions of dollars of state of the art futuristic technology, this poor thing would be laughed off the forums nowadays as "not a sim" Where are the 5 levels of clouds, The ai? etc, etc..... How times change. I wonder what the future will make of our current state of the art, as they plug their Matrix style neural simulation connections into their brains.
