I used to really enjoy this space. It has been going down hill now for a few years and I have reached my limit. People can no longer start a topic or ask a question without being attacked very soon thereafter by people on another platform or those who may like a different product. Un-reprimanded trolling, and complaints about pricing have ruined these forums. I suppose that I'll have to get my news from Facebook and various other sources and join more developer forums. Those of you who are guilty know who you are, I'm certain of that. You'll probably attack me here from the safety of your living room. No worries. I won't see it.

I think DTG has done a good job sofar, but it has a long way to go. What DTG in my mind needs to do is draw attention to the gamers, there simply needs to be a career mode with tons of achievements and things you can complete with fellow gamers in multiplayer, if this this is not implemented its dead, and we all know it. DTG cant implement what the hardcore simmers want if they dont have the average gamer that thinks this a fun and immersive game, in my mind this is the way to go, just giving people the whole world and think and think its fun to fly from a to b is a big mistake.

It appears that FlightAware discontinued this capability unless I'm blind and cannot see it. Are there any other options out there? I'd like to plan the entire day to fly with one tail and reproduce all the stops for it.

  6. Just cross-posting this note from Stephen Hood on the Steam forum since it should be of interest: "It’s been nearly two months since the release of Flight Sim World, and I hope that everyone is enjoying it – we certainly are! Before I say anything else, I would like to wholeheartedly thank everyone who has supported us with the launch and continued development of Flight Sim World. This project is very much a labor of passion for myself and the rest of the Flight team, and it’s an incredible feeling to be working alongside an equally passionate community to advance FSW towards being the very best it can be. In case you have missed the individual updates, here is…

  10. The children of the FS series, so-to-speak. Just for the sake of curiosity: how's the sky rendered in these new sims? I mean, they are all going 64 bits... we'll see 4k textures in everything, I guess. I'll be a bit disappointed if the sky textures continue to be those 32x32px bitmaps... and it's the sky! The most important "environment" in a flight simulator. So... did they change this or I'll continue to struggle with those tiny textures? Regards,

  11. Hi, As part of the July 4th sales on PC Aviator USA, I have purchased Tallinn X airport by Drzewiecki Design. However, the download link that I have been sent after payment (and that is accessible in my order history) is apparently broken - when I click on it, I am directed to a page with the product description that has the button "Download Link". When I click on that button, I get the message: So it is not possible for me to download the software whatsoever (and I have tried several times). I have written an e-mail to PC Aviator about this problem using two different addresses, but I have received no reply so far (I purchased on July 4th). I have als…

  12. AVSIM does not currently host image posting via the attachment system so you will have to link your image from a 3rd party hosting provider such as Photobucket, ImageShack, Google, OneDrive, Imgur, or, the one I use FS Files.org - http://fsfiles.org/flightsimshotsv2/. Most services provide 5GB's or more of free space to upload your images. Once you upload your image to a hosting provider, the image should have a box in one of the corners that you can check. Once checked, you should be given the option to "get an embed code". Click on that and it will offer HTML embed codes or BBCodes embed codes. AVSIM uses the BBCode system so click on the "BBCode embed' and a l…

My main gripe is the sim shutting down when I've not completed a mission successfully. By all means say 'Failed' or whatever, but it quite nice to carry on and sort yourself out, thereby learning. The same applies when a mission is completed, don't shut down, give me chance to have a look around and think about what I've just done. I was shut down twice tonight because I was trying to sort out my controls and didn't respond to instructions quick enough. I know how to fly, simulated and some real-life, and I've been at it for 17 years, but the 'get it wrong and you're finished' method is counter-productive. The same comments apply to Train Simulator. …

  15. Trying to broaden my horizons so to speak, and be more involved in an online multiplayer environment, and while I keep putting off vatsim, Im looking at FsCloud and ProjectFly but wondering of what benefit is it. So far I see my aircraft icon and would be able to see someone elses icon that I know flying at same time but thats about it. Perhaps Im supposed to see their model in use in the sim but havnt noticed anything like that. Not a whole lot different from the VA live maps. What am I missing here? How are you using these utilities?

Just remember, LH is in the military hardware and support business. Emphasis on hardware. P3D will continue so long as the folks behind P3D can continue to justify their R&D expenses through synergy with the company's main product lines. Selling licenses to people like us is simply a way to offset their R&D costs. For example, a year of an engineer's time at LH probably runs around $250k. How many such folks work on P3D. 10 heads maybe? That's $2.5 million + ODC. Say a round $3M. So how many $200 licenses does that add up to? 15000, yes 15000. The key in keeping P3D alive for us, an ancillary market, is for the P3D team to continue to be relevant to the LH main pr…

Many sims have a warbird or two in their hangars. For example FUIII and MSFS both have the P51D, AF2 has the Corsair, the P38 Lightning.and a Sopwith Camel. What warbirds would you like to see in this one? I reckon the P40 and maybe also a nice Albatros D.III for a WWI flavour.

Yesterday, I took a flight on an Airbus A319 from Amsterdam. During the wait to push-back, and after push-back, and all the way along the taxi-way to the furthest runway, 36L, where I was sat, right above the main gear, I kept hearing these worm-gear like repetative noises, which were distinct from the flaps worm-gear drives, as those were selected before the taxi-out. These noises, continued for at least 10 minutes into the long taxi before a northerly departure, then stopped. Same thing happened inbound as we cleared the runway exit and neared the terminal gate. Anyone any idea what these noises are? Am intrigued.

  24. This question applies as much to FSX as it does to P3D but in the absence of a general forum I think this place probably gets more visitors. Are moving jetways important to you? If you fly a passenger jet then I would hope they are. All part of the realism eh? I'm asking because it seems most of my Aerosoft Mega Airports don't have them. I spent a while at Dublin yesterday trying to get them to work using CTRL+J. The ones provided in that package look very nice so it's not unrealistic to expect them to move. But try as I might I couldn't find any that would. So I posted the question on the Aerosoft Mega Airports forum and Mathijs replied saying there weren'…
