  1. A couple of months ago when I was using GPS-Z to monitor graphics card performance in P3D I decided to register with GPS-Z so I could supply the data collected and compare my data to others. I completed a registration form and submitted it. I've now received for the fourth time an advisory email from Steam saying someone using my correct username and password but from another country (KR) is trying to access my account. I have to click a link and supply a Steam Guard code to confirm my authenticity. This is becoming a pain and quite worrying. How do these low lifes get hold of login info? Is this common-place? I now feel I want to close this account. Is this an …

I've checked out all of the default aircraft and have one request: Fix the backlighting on the "LCD Screens!" In Max, tag those VC Materials with "Additive mode" rather than "Multiply Blend". That way the screens will be lighted nicely during the daytime like they are in Real Life (TM). In the DA40 for example when shadows darken the cockpit panel, the G1000's are dark and impossible to read easily. I had to rely on the three backup analog instruments, which were easily visible.

  4. July has been pretty hectic in the office, with a string of exciting updates for simmers to sink their teeth into. Last week we introduced passengers to Flight Sim World, and this week we're bringing Cold/Dark starts into FSW. The Cold/Dark updates features a checklist that highlights the levers, buttons and switches you need to press in order to start each aircraft in Flight Sim World. Experts can enable the advanced mode to remove any assistance, get themselves prepped up and then taxi onto the runway. They'll be another exciting announcement next week, so try and keep your heads out of the clouds, but until then we've got a number of other changes so read on be…

  5. Since I have to be away from home for a week due to work issues, and taking my laptop is a no-go (please don't ask why), I'm thinking about installing a flight simulator in my tablet (Samsung GalaxyTab 7 GT-P3100). I've heard of both Infinite Flight and X-Plane, but I'm not sure on which one should I go. At home, I love to fly airliners (iFly 737 and 747, Wilco Airbus and E-jets and PSS 757/777, usually) from A to B in FS9. Any suggestions? I almost forgot it, I'm running Android 4.1 in my tablet.

  6. Shalom and greetings all my pals, Photobucket had made important announcement 2 days ago that could potentially ruin everybody's fun of creating and posting screenshots. PhotoBucket now charges $399 for third-party hosted images. Here is new rule for Photobucket: Free account : Each individual Member gets one free account that provides 2 GB of free storage or space available for your original photo files, or videos under 10min. The free account does not allow any image linking or 3rd party image hosting. If a free account Member exceeds their Content Limit, their account will be immediately suspended and they will need to become a “Paying Member” (defined …

  7. We said July was going to be a big month for Flight Sim World, and we weren't kidding. We'll be unveiling a new feature that's coming to FSW tomorrow on our twitch channel. If you're unable to make it, you'll be able to watch the VOD on Twitch or YouTube later in the week.

Hello All. As the years roll over and Flight Sim expanding I am finding it harder to come to terms with what is what, and the difference between them. I was hoping that someone could tell me what the difference is between FSX SE, P3D V4, VR AND ASF2. Can you use VR with the others, is there specific scenery for each one or can I use Orbx (my scenery of choice, and I only have that installed) with any two, same applies with planes. What appears to be the direction everyone is going, where will we be, say 12 months for now. I do have AFS2 and really enjoy LOWI but there has been no other scenery released for that particular Sim. Being a well advanced…

  11. fshobby on the DTG forums has reported this issue with the KAP140 in the Cherokee, just wondered if anyone else has found this too: "I find that clicking VS cancels the lateral mode (HDG or NAV). Clicking Up/Down displays a vertical speed but the aircraft does not climb. Clicking ARM resets VS to zero. VS cannot be changed with ARM enabled." The problem is that once in ALT ARM Mode, you can't re-check your VS setting without changing Mode from ALT ARM back to VS Mode. Activating VS Mode doesn't always work, you need to activate ALT ARM again to change altitude but that seems to default to 400fpm up or down regardless of the VS Mode setting you entered.

  12. I know I am kicking a bees nest with this post, but there comes a time when you have to pull the plug on those things that have outlived their time! I grant you FS9 has more than lived up to potential and then some even long after Microsoft abandon it. Flight sims like FS2000 and FS9 and now FSX have had their time but now should be behind us, but what is the reason they are still here? Money! Too many of my flight simmers are so heavily invested into FS9 or FSX with sims they bought almost 10 years ago they just cannot look ahead or open their wallets to a new platform. A lot of the excuses for not moving to a new platform was "not until they have a 64 bit platform.…

I watch many videos on my HDTV from Youtube and in the last few weeks am addicted to videos on paramotoring. This guy has made a bunch of videos on the subject and he is an excellent pilot. Looks like fun, if I was a few decades younger and had some extra money, I think I would be tempted to give this a try.

Hi everyone, Is there some kind of website and/or information source to get aircraft data useful for simming? On information sites such as Wikipedia, I can only get the cruising speeds of a given aircraft. I need things like takeoff speed, approach, minimum speed one can fly with a given aircraft before stalling, etc. Right now, I'm trying to look for the MD-11 and 787-8 info, but if I can find others that'd be great as well. Thanks.

ok guys i only have this issue on commercial jets (FS speaking of course).. When I power up on the take off roll (for instance on the CR7, 737 etc). I have the plane at normal operating weights and I advance the power to about 85 percent with flaps set to around 10 or 20 depending on winds.. After I left off the plane accelerates really rapidly to the point of over speed unless I decrease the power to around 65 percent (and this is with a positive rate of 2,000 fpm climb). Am I doing something wrong or is that just standard SOP for those planes? Thanks, Jason

Although the maximum range for ILS in p3d is fixed at 25NM I have seen planes intercepting as far back as 35-40nm from the airport in flightradar24, which made me curious how much DME distance is generally considered fine for ILS interception in real life? Does it vary from airport to airport or between old and new transmitters or perhaps aircraft even?

  19. With the official recent announcement of a few major developers to abandon FSX in favor of the better 64bit platform by Lockheed, DT is in serious need of a different stance on 3rd party work in FSW. Pushing everyone to Steam in order to sell/install their products in FSW is a failed concept out the gate and will relegate FSW to irrelevancy. I hope their watching the wave that's happening and make themselves competitive. With serious competition I'd hate to see the FSW project die for lack of support. This community drives the base product and just like Microsoft couldn't understand (a.k.a. FLIGHT), alienating the driving force behind a simulation in any way is bad fo…

I don't know if this has been an issue all along or if its new but it could contribute to performance issues I think. Some of the downtown skyscrapers are translucent at dusk (and possibly/probably always). Here are Philadelphia PA USA and Dallas Texas USA: its only some of the buildings. I tried two different airplanes and both summer sunset and sunny day with time adjusted. The buildings look fine (not translucent) during the day but I bet they are(translucent). you just cant see it. hope this helps. if this is known then ignore.

I am unable to re-download two items that I have bought from Aerosoft. I have contacted the somewhat ironically titled "Help" desk and (After over a month and 10 to 15 exchanges of emails and "Forms") I am haveing great difficulty getting anything out of them that is not actually insulting. Fabian Boulegue is totally unhelpful. Very Arrogant. and should not be in his job (I have the emails as proof and am quite willing to share if required). Am I the only one who has experienced this? or is this typical of the company. ? He is actively going out of his way to not provide assistance. while attempting to demean the customer. I would like to know , before taking m…

Apparently a photograph has turned up which possibly shows Fred Noonan and Amelia Earhart on a jetty in the Marshall Islands with what may be their Lockheed Electra visible in the background on a barge being towed by a Japanese freighter. Investigators may have found some aircraft parts too: http://www.masslive.com/news/index.ssf/2017/07/history_channel_photo_shows_am_1.html
