The product page for the Early Access on Steam lists a minimum of something like a GTX-970 graphics card with 4GB VRAM, and I was concerned, that it won't run on my machine as it only has a GTX-580 with 1.5GB VRAM, but it does run, even though the sliders are a bit more to the left :-). Just wanted to mention this if anyone else hesitates due to the minimum system requirements.

I found this in Boeing's Twitter account. This paired with the claim they filed with the department of commerce against Bombardier kind of seems to me like they are desperately trying to stall. What are your thoughts on this?

Hello I have been messing around with FSW and comparing it to my experience in P3D v3, and one of the most noticeable differences is that the GPU usage tends to be a lot lower in FSW when compared to P3D in similar situations. Performance overall seems worse than P3D. When looking at CPU usage, it seems there is still the issue of very low utilisation on most threads on a i7 6700K, with just the one thread pegged pretty much at 100%. In terms of both CPU and GPU usage, there doesn't appear to be any improvement from vanilla FSX. P3D on the other hand seems to load the GPU considerably more, and from what I can tell from very early reports, P3D v4 also seems to …

Well, since it's in there, I thought I'd give the mission editor tool a go. It's pretty easy to use, just create and save a flight in FSW, then open it up in the editor tool and tweak away. Was curious about whether the sim would detect a chopper making a landing, and as you can see, it does... Really needs this as a soundtrack though lol... Gonna tell Aunt Mary about Uncle John. Claims he has a-misery but he has a lot of fun. Oh, baby. Ye-e-e-es, baby. Whoo-oo-oo-oo, baby. A-havin' me some fun tonight. Yeah. Well, Long Tall Sally, she's built sweet. She got everything that Uncle John need. Oh, baby. Ye-e-e-es, baby. Whoo-oo-oo-oo, baby. A-ha…

So I originally made this post directed at just A320 Pilots but realized I should have opened this up to be a bit more general as I'm kinda comparing scenarios across the 737 and the A320 in sim. The question is during landing as you are about to flare and cutting power, does the 737, specifically the 737-800 seem to float alot down the runway. I've seemed to notice, again, comparing XP with the JAR A320 (Non "study-level", as far as I know) and P3D 737-800 (PMDG, from what I hear considered study level) major differences in landing characteristics. In P3D upon landing in the 737-800 when I cut power I seem to float alot during flare after I cut power. This seems to h…

Completely unrelated to flight sims, but... As most of you know, I got really ill recently and spent a lot of time in hospital. Thankfully I'm out now and slowly getting back to work, did my first couple of days training for someone last week. And am back at it next week, so evidently improving. Anyway, one of the things which was also affected by that illness, was my ability to sing and play guitar (which I do in local venues fairly often), because having a collapsed lung makes you out of breath, so singing is damn near impossible, and being in hospital meant I'd not touched any musical instruments for a long time either. So, I've been having the odd go at singing a…

Just a question out of curiosity. I'm wondering when during landing when you're about to flare and retard the throttles, does the A320 seem to continue to almost floating down the runway or does it typically and almost immediately increase the descent rate? Just curious as to what's more "real" in the sim. Typically when I'm in XP11 power changes seem to actually effect the descent rate of aircraft whereas when I'm in P3D I can cut power and end up just floating down the runway with little decrease in speed.

Just curious to know how people are getting on with the missions, achievements and lessons in FSW. I've hammered them quite a bit in my testing of the sim, since most of them are quite good fun to do and allow one to check things out in an entertaining fashion. According to Steam, I have unlocked 51/59 (86%) of achievements, played FSW for 113 hours, and have 8 hours of free flight time logged.

I have an i5 4690K & 8 GB of RAM, plus the Nvidia GTX 1060 GPU. I purchased FSW on Day 1 & had it running fine until the last couple of days when it has started to freeze after about 5 minutes of air time. Checking some of the data showed that RAM use was around 86% when it freezes, & then has to be exited. Is 8 GB Ram sufficient for FSW? T45

I have always wondered if theres a way to wipe out your current flight plan entirely and start over from scratch again using these 2 FMC/MCDU. Could someone please explain how to do this? There's many times when I wish to do this without having to reload my entire sim all over again.

Hello, I would like to ask the community to see if there's any experienced programmers who specializes in Microsoft's Visual Studio. There was a 32-bit add-on for FSX and P3D v3 called PDF Kneeboard and it's such a must have tool for those who fly IFR/tubeliners. With the recent release of the 64-bit P3D v4, this add-on no longer works. It's basically a dll file. The source code is readily open and available for anyone who wishes to modify or add to it. So I was wondering if there's anyone here who may be interested in making this work with P3D v4. The source files are located here: https://github.com/nmeier/fscode/tree/master/pdfkneeboard Since I know nothing a…

More and more people are getting tired of generic landclass scenery that even 'new' sims keep on giving us. More and more people are getting interested in Aerofly FS 2 because of the photoreal scenery but specially the awesome graphical engine it has. Unfortunately the default scenery looks quite empty. Now Orbx has announced support for AFS2 and they won't convert their landclass scenery to AFS2, no, apart from releasing LOWI in a week or so and Meigs later on, they are working on photoreal scenery with accurate autogen. A lot of people fear that adding options to AFS2 will make it an FSX-like slideshow. Well, John Venema posted this on the Orbx forum today: "Whilst…

I am a bit concerned about parking since I am handicapped and not really able to walk from the overflow lot to the Hotel's entrance. Is there adequate handicap parking available at the hotel's parking lot? I'm really excited to be attending this year's FlightSimCon where I hope to meet with folks I've only known "digitally" over the past three decades! Fr. Bill Milviz Developer & AVSIM Moderator

Hi there, I want to buy the FSL A320 but I am not sure. Do you think it's worth the money? I now I actually we've waited for an Airbus ever since FSX exists. However, do you think it's worth 139 USD (incl. P3D Version) I am really unsure because of performance, when it comes realization, do you think it has the same level as PMDG?

It's been proposed and the airlines seem to like the idea. I don't have an opinion on this idea one way or the other, but I know that AVSim has real life commercial pilots and controllers that post here and I just wondered what they think about this. Please try to keep the political stuff to a minimum.

Not much info, but this was posted to r/flightsim earlier, thought some of you guys might be interested ;-) Personally, I do not think it is wise to announce such a huge project in the earliest days of development when you don't have a great reputation for developing addon aircraft, but who knows what will come of it. I guess we'll see in a couple of years at best...
