I've been flipping back and forth between Xplane11 and P3dV4, but as I've become more skilled with Ortho4xp I am really liking what I see in Xplane11. I've mapped much of the west in photoreal scenery. So I have tons of VFR routes to choose from. I still like each sim about equally, mainly because my aircraft add-ons are in P3d. I love that one can create videos in Xplane11. They turn out very well. The flight feel is very fluid compared to what it used to be on my older system, which would get OOM errors with more VRAM than my current card. Pretty amazing with all that photoreal scenery loaded up. I have a video in the videos forum that you can see the end resul…

That FSW compatibe software was one of the first add ons I bought and I am wondering ....... the AFM (Airport Flattening Mesh) does not seem to work that well. Did these awful plateau or crater airports actually exist before FS-Global or did I shoot myself in the foot by buying this software?

I have been using FS since the FS98 days and been on AVSIM since FS2002. Was a staff member for several years. I think those of you who have seen my posts over the years know that I'm a pretty positive and friendly guy but I have to say that I have just had the most incredibly bad interaction with the SimMarket support staff. I tried to install an upgrade of a product that I already had working in FS9 so I could use it in FSX-SE. (I won't say the name of the product as it's not their fault.) I keep getting an error code when I enter the key code SimMarket provided me with. (copying and pasting the exact code sent to me as I have done with probably more than a hundred othe…

Turbulent Designs are bringing Big Bear Airport to Flight Sim World, taking advantage of the updates to physically-based rendering to realistically map out this high-altitude airport. You can find Big Bear nestled within the San Bernardino Mountains in the United States, close to 6000 ft above sea level. If you're looking to replicate real-world flights into Big Bear, there are some specific flight rules for this GA focused airport. Inbound flights fly in over the ski slopes at 9,500 feet and departing traffic flys at or below 8,000 feet. Who are Turbulent Designs? Turbulent Designs are a third party add-on developer, with a history in creating scenery, airports…

A creative flight sim enthusiast has made a full cockpit setup that folds neatly away, transforming into an unassuming piece of furniture. Posting details of the build on Reddit, James ‘Maverick’ Turner explained the project was prompted by a move to an apartment that required a more efficient use of space, and the culmination of several years of creating a custom flight simulator rig. https://www.roadtovr.com/diy-vr-cockpit-hidden-flight-simulator/ The original post links to this annotated Imgur gallery, (http://imgur.com/a/PCZB4) showing the rig in ‘cockpit mode’ and ‘furniture mode’, and his earlier flight sim hardware, which originally included a bulky t…

I just bought the IRIS_Texan_Driver_P3d and the plane installed and runs, but I can not find the operators manual. There are supposed to be five manuals, but the only one I got is the Check List. I sent a message to IRIS, but it is the weekend and they probably wont respond till next week, so I thought I would try here. Anyone else bought this one? Can someone point me to the manuals? My P3Dv4 is installed on my D Drive and I have looked everywhere on both C and D drives, but can only find the Check List. Thanks

Wow, didn’t see this coming. Not that I’m an insider so why would I but I’ve always had a soft spot for Monarch due to plenty of family holiday flights from Manchester and Liverpool. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-41464934 Sad news for passengers and staff. CAA doing the right thing for everyone too, good job. Chris

I am really looking forward to this year's show at RAF Cosford. I thoroughly enjoyed the show in 2014 and 2015, but there was something missing in 2016. I think that part of the reason for this is that I wandered around a bit aimlessly last year, without any clear focus of what I wanted to do, and also the lack of a chat focal point (which was the Mutley's Hangar stand in the previous two years). I also didn't get quite as involved last year as I had done previously, so I intend to correct that this year. Another term for this would be "poking my nose in and asking questions/providing help to others" There are also a greater number of exhibitors this year that are of int…

The first airport add-on for Flight Sim World, Big Bear features highly detailed buildings, an accurate ground poly, and utilizes Turbulent’ s critically acclaimed Real Flora technology, all of which has been built from the ground up to take full advantage of the rendering technology upgrades in Flight Sim World. Big Bear City Airport is a large general aviation airport located in Big Bear City in Southern California. The airport, nestled deep within the San Bernardino Mountains to the west of Los Angeles and sits at a staggeringly high altitude of over 6,500 feet (1980m). This provides pilots with challenging departures and arrivals due to reduced engine power and t…

Hello, AVSIM community. I have been involved in flight simulation pushing a decade and have kept up with these forums as a guest viewer and not a interacting user. I decided today to join the conversation. I have have been watching live streams today of fellow simmers testing the QualityWings 787. I haven’t found any topic relating to what aircraft everyone is watching/waiting for that is still in development so I figured I would create one. Myself, I am interested in the QW787 despite reports of several bugs which undoubtedly will be fixed. I am really hoping a good A380 would be developed.

Dear Avsim, I am becoming increasingly concerned by the misrepresentation of 3rd party add-ons through the use of post production effects in videos and screenshots. A growing number of developers and publishers are releasing media which in many cases, utilise more and more complex post production and lighting effects such as desaturation, motion, shading, sound and edge enhancements to effectively represent their products in a far more visually appealing way than is possible using the base platform. Whether that is P3D, X-Plane, FSX or any other core simulator, I find this practice to be highly misleading at best, or plain dishonest at worst. If you consider that…

I didn't see any dedicated Navigraph forums, so figured I'd ask here... If we subscribe to Navigraph, do we own the actual AIRAC cycles within the timeframe of the subscription? Or are we just able to update while we have said subscription? To clarify: I have a subscription right now but will probably cancel shortly as my PMDG NGX, Active Sky, and SimBrief are all updated to AIRAC 1710. If I cancel and purchase the QW787 when it comes out for P3Dv4, can I update to 1710, or do I have to re-subscribe? Thanks in advance!

Next Saturday is the Flight Sim Show in which 36 exhibitors will open their doors to attendees for the event! A full list of the exhibitors are below. http://flightsimshow.com/ I'll hopefully be recording the event and interviewing some of the developers at the show for flightsim.com (although a video will also be made out of this) and currently planning some questions to ask! While I do this, I wonder if there is anything others want to ask but may not get the chance to such as not attending the show. (I do also know that Remex are releasing their Deadstick simulator in Unity which could be quite interesting!)
