Is your system long in the tooth and FSW is motivating you to build, or buy a new computer or laptop! Laptop one is for me as I never have desktop's anymore. I code lightly, and my computer has to be portable and my flight sim's have to go with me! Flight simulation is secondary to portability. I also never buy DLC, maybe a few aircraft's, but never scenery, airport's, or anything like that. Not my thing. Although I expect more DLC aircraft to be purchased for FSW. Depend's on what the final product end's up having as a base. So who is getting 20-40 fps ( in my case 12-20 fps, yeah, me MacBook Air person ) and want's 40-60 fps or more. Yes, of course this would help…

Hi all, Is there any way to get it to remember your dovetail login? Would be nice if you didn't have to enter it every time. Chris

Hey Pilots! I want to set the probability for holdings in the settings of PRO-ATC X to a somewhat real value... What would you say is a good value (0-100%) for the probability of holdings? I think about an overall value for the "whole world". Thanks!

Like many others I am addicted to fiddling about with FSW. After a few problems I have the ground texture right for Australia (I have put the path to ORBX Australia into the scenery.cfg). Frame rates are really good and it seems to work a lot better than in FSX, BUT houses have roofs but no walls. ORBX object library does not work properly. Also the ORBX PNW caused CTD but ORBX CRM does not (Have not tested NZSI and NZNI yet). Individual airports can be flown to but not flown from. I think getting ORBX on board with compatible scenery will be the single most important update that could possibly be done at the moment. Please DTG get onto it asap!

In the midst of the hurricane (while safe here in Virginia), I cranked up P3D and Active Sky and loaded the Carenado A36 Bonanza at KMIA (Miami). Rain was blowing sideways and the plane was bouncing up and down while sitting on the ramp. Then the wind picked the plane up and slammed it into a building. Wow!, what realism. Thought that was pretty cool. Jim

Hi Cryss Can the wheel brakes be made more effective? Was doing run ups at 2000rpm in the Cherokee and they weren’t holding me. Also did the mag check and there was no rpm drop. Chris

I’ve googled it, searched the forums, and I don’t know where else to find this lol. I know its really random But I’m interested in knowing what the towing power mode switch is for on the b787. I’m sure it’s pretty simple given the name, but thinking more into it, why would you need to supply power during towing? If you’re thinking about the tow part, well the tug doesn’t need power from the aircraft, and if you’re thinking about powering the aircraft during towing, isnt that what the APU is for? Only other thing I can think of is if the aircraft is getting towed from hangars without passengers and such but then again why would it need to be powered during that? Like …

Please forgive me for this prose, but I have to say it. I have been a long time MSFS user going way way back. It wasn't until about 8 years ago that I got really serious with my simming. I am amazed at the level of experience of sim enthusiasts and pilots that enrich this hobby on a daily basis. I am not a RL pilot, but I do enjoy the feeling of flying - even if I have to do it from my desk. Anyways, thank you all because i have learned a volume of stuff about flying, right here on AVSIM, and the funny thing is, I don't feel I've even scratched the surface. Please do not think I am bashing anyone for the sim they use. I get it...we all have that one (or several) si…

An odd question (perhaps from an odd member? ) Looking at the approach into runway 6 ILS at KRSW, gives me a possible transition of "RSW". That FIX is right on the airport itself. Is that unusual? Furthermore, the next FIX is TROPC at a holding pattern at 3000 feet. I don't recall the last time I ever used a transition with a runway approach, but I found that a bit odd?

I have been using flightaware's website for various trips across the country. I just realized that the routes posted already have the STARs labeled for arrival. Is this common? I thought STARs tend not to be assigned until you're enroute. For example; https://flightaware.com/live/flight/UAL1579/history/20170914/1651Z/KEWR/KMIA BIGGY J75 CAE J51 SAV J103 OMN HILEY6 (The STAR) and https://flightaware.com/live/flight/UAL1537/history/20170914/0114Z/KEWR/KMIA ELVAE COL WHITE J209 SBY KEMPR DIW AR22 JORAY (The trans) HILEY6 (The STAR) Any insight?

Hi community, Yes, I know that there is a separate forum for this, but I was hoping that my post would not get lost..... I am looking for some advice about an upgrade for FSW please. Currently, I am running the sim on an i5 3570k, with 16GB ram, a 256 ssd, and a Gtx 660ti video card. I was going to do a full upgrade, but after looking at performance comparison for the new i5 kabylake, I cannot justify the cost, so I would like a suggestion please for an upgrade: Keep my cpu and mobo. Upgrade to 32gb ram. Upgrade to a 512gb SSD Upgrade to Windows 10 Do not know which video card to buy? Recommendations please community? I love th…

Hello guys I had this same problem with FSX-SE but as I could never actually get past the fly now button i did not over worry about it. I have had this installed now for about a week partially set up my controls (see previous posts - still not resolved) flown for 2 hours. Click on the Desktop icon just now and it wants me to install it. 39gb ... about 12 hours download (from experience) Is this normal for Steam products???? How can I stop this and just "play" this Simulator. Cheers Tony

Took a nap this afternoon while windows did some updates, woke up and found, lo and behold, P3d v4 installed on my computer! Pretty Amazing! John Edit: Just gave it a first test flight, everything is as smooth as it was before, no hiccups... Sorry, spoke too soon, thought it was the 4.1 update, jumped the gun LOL....

Has anyone considered that DTG may be buying the licenses to DLC, for sale in Steam directly from the dev? It's genius when you think of it. Flight 1, Orbx, and Aerosoft use a similar model now. And DTG already bought Orbx, A2A, and others licenses for the core sim. A dev makes a good airport, DTG buy it for $20k, they sell 5000 copies at $9.99 and even after the Steam cut they made profit. Rinse and repeat. Also, look at the price of the Arrow III on Steam and on the JF store. It's CHEAPER on Steam! Suspicious. Of course this would likely not be applicable to all addons until 3pds are proven in the market. That way we don't have EZDOK repeats where …

Just for a bit of fun, here's a comparison between the Just Flight Piper PA28R Arrow III (or IV or whatever) in FSW and in P3D V4, and purely for the comedy value of alluding to that 'Arrow to the Knee' meme from Skyrim, I took this particular Arrow to Kneeland Airport in California. And you thought this comedy stuff was just thrown together eh? Some things to note: FSW is on medium settings with no AI traffic because my PC struggles a bit with it at the moment and will continue to do so until I put more RAM into it (next week), and it is apparent that FSW is not optimised properly yet since it is rubbish in full screen mode and shouldn't be if P3D V4 can run like th…

I bought the Just Flight PA-28R and I am thoroughly enjoying it in FSW. I do however have a problem regarding the Altimeter Setting baro dial. The altimeter dial on the US registered liveries are calibrated in mb/(hPA) rather than in in/hg. I can understand non US registered liveries being this way but it would be nice if there were an option to choose which type of altimeter is installed in the aircraft. The Operations Manual states that the barometric pressure scale is provided for hPa/mb. The pressure setting knob tooltip displays the currently selected pressure in hPa/mb or inHG, depending on which unit of measurement is currently active in the simulator settings.…
