Hey, I was browsing youtube today and I came across this user's videos. He is in FlightSafety's full motion sim and wow the graphics look superb!!!!. First I thought it was photo scenery only with no 3D, but when he lands, I can see the buildings and airport etc. The graphics are amazing!!!! I wish current retail sim software can display this level of detail. What simulation software is FlightSafety using?

It's a pretty mixed bag this week, with tweaks to a lot of mission content based on user feedback thus far. We've also got a hefty update to the Pro Mission Editor, with a variety of recipes being added to the sim to make creating missions just that little bit easier. That's not all, but read on for the full patch notes. Missions Low and Slow Correct airports now listed on the flight planner Scud Runner Prevents the aircraft going backward once the mission’s completed. Burning the Candle at Both Ends Removed compass on end cinematics. MEP Lesson 3 - Engine Failure Takeoff Aircraft can no longer be operated in failure cinematics…

It's an exhausted theme, I know, but Syn-Requiem, a real ATPL / CFI that recently came joining us playing IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad, and is well known for his excellent YouTube Tutorials, published a very nice one explaining, through the use of IL-2 BoS, which I am a true fan of, how they affect prop aircraft in various circumstances. Worth watching, even if you're a seasoned simmer :-)

I'm sure you heard about the AF A380 that had one of its engines disintegrate midflight which forced it to perform an emergency landing at Goose Bay. According to Reuters, the plane will soon be ferried out of Goose Bay on 3 engines and be brought back to Paris. Captain Dave (twitter @DaveWallsworth) is a BA A380 captain and he tweeted an interesting article, explaining the special procedures and preparations for such 3 engine ferry flight, including a 5 meter offset from the RWY center-line to cater for the the asymmetric thrust.

Hi, I have a question regarding flying in the USA. I take my routes from Flightaware. Sometimes, there is no SID to the first waypoint. I assume you would fly runway heading and get a direct by ATC, in real life. However, I am wondering how you find out about initial climb, frequencies etc. Ok, in real world, you probably would receive this information with your initial IFR clearance. Do you rely only to that? So you only need your taxi charts for departure? What when you want to have any information about terrain or obstacles. You could consider looking at other charts, but what would real world pilots do at such a situation in the USA? I am flying in the EU, w…

I wanted to share what happened to me since I know some are real pilots here and for members in general, since many here are close to my age. On Sunday I was going home from the market, when I collapsed in the parking lot while walking home. I had become disoriented and my legs just quit on me, I fell face first onto the concrete, spraining my arm and receiving multiple lacerations on my legs, arms, and face. Some people leaving a nearby lounge where they were having a concert came to my aid, three good Samaritans. They made me stay where I was on the ground (I could no longer walk anyway) and they called 911. When 911 arrived they asked me if I was diabetic and when…

Many times I have downloaded a plane (mostly twin props) and when I bring it up on the rwy. it starts rolling down the rwy. What can I adjust in the acft.cfg file to stop this?? I am running fsx-steam on Win 7. Any help would be appreciated. I am familiar with changing this in the acft.config files. Thank you JimboFlyer

Mod note: Kindly move this to a more appropriate board if deemed necessary. I thought it didn't fit in virtual airlines as this event is open to all on the VATSIM network and not a private VA affair. 21-22 October 2017, Saturday and Sunday, 1100Z to 1500Z+1 (including 1 overnight leg) Basic coverage at all event airports: KBFI, PHNG, PGUM, WSSS RSVP at https://www.facebook.com/events/145497206067472 Charts, scenery and planning data (including route files for payware aircraft) will be provided at least 48 hours before event start Bring our newest bird home! Even though chances of an explosion due to gunfire were minimal, its still frightening to think about what could have happened, given the close vicinity of the airport. One bullet even penetrated the kerosine tank:

Google's parent company is set to launch balloons into the Caribbean skies in an attempt to restore telephone networks in hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico. Alphabet Inc., which controls Google, obtained authorization from the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to deploy the devices—developed from 2013 as part of a project known as "Loon." Read more at: https://phys.org/news/2017-10-balloo...-networks.html To track the High Altitude Baloons, go to https://www.flightradar24.com then type HBAL in the Search box.

As this has come up in another topic peripherally, I thought I'd create one specifically. So I bought the Butt-kicker 2 about 18 months ago. It was the single best enhancement Id made to my flightsimming experience at the time. However, about 6 months later the amp packed up. It was the second time the Butt-kicker amp had packed up on me, so i just gave up on buying another one. Is anyone else using sound transducers - and if so, which ones are you using ?

Hello all, here is a question I always wanted to ask but never got around to it. I was flying into kjax (as a passenger, I am not a rw pilot) on an e745. My question is: On approach, what causes the sensation of the plane actually braking (much like a car, actually) as it nears its final approach. Is it the speed brake? If so, I always assumed the speed brake was activated in intervals, ie 1/4, 1/2 etc. until the required speed was achieved? This feels more like brake, release, brake, release. Speed brake or other?
