Hangar Chat
This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar. Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here. Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc. Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view. We allow some latitude, but please remember that, first and foremost, this is a flight-simulator oriented site frequented by people from all walks of life.

Charlie, please do not deny this. It's being reported that in On December 1, FlightSim.com will go offline for an unknown period as we begin the next phase of its evolution. This process will likely take months. The domain will be online, and a landing page will display our "under re-construction" status. Folks, this is a sad day. If you read between the lines you can see this is the end of the line for a once great website. A website I've enjoyed since 1995.

Hi guys, I understand that landings must adhere to the traffic pattern, whether the airport is controlled or uncontrolled. However, there is an exception: when the final approach leg is relatively close to the runway, it is not necessary to enter the pattern (as seen in the image). So, if that's true, at what approximate distance should I align with the runway, and at what angle should I deviate from the approach leg to intercept the point for aligning with the runway? Would that be the pilot's decision? NOTE: In the image, the intention is to land on runway 20, as the winds are coming from the front.

Is just now opening. They moved all of Tutankhamen's Tomb treasures from the old Egyptian Museum to this one. Egypt government sent dozens of prestigious architectural companies invitations to submit possible building plans, and they chose one. The result is a spectacular building in itself. There's many YT videos popping up from the opening 2 weeks ago, including these. Some of these are long, so I used links. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhArwI0BEEg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=te8kvNeEhi8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCqccbewdGc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EtPdnkQgzCk If you go to Cairo, be sure to take a look. It probably won't be…

Beware the initial scenes of him flying are OFC, "manipulated" 🙂 Don't try that at home or you'll end at your "last" home 😉

https://apnews.com/article/edmund-fitzgerald-50-anniversary-gordon-lightfoot-bbe5d3e04024354482ca5ac60f4fa790 I remember when it happened, I was 19. The following year I visited my sister’s family in Milwaukee for Christmas. My brother-in-law and I walked out on Lake Michigan, as it was frozen along the shore and out for quite a ways. It made quite an impression, imagining the helplessness of the crew and the freezing water. This line from the song still gives me goosebumps: ”Does anyone know where the love of God goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?”

According to Aaron Parness, Amazon's Director of Robotics, the answer is saltwater. Therefore living by the sea will help if AI robots start running rogue.
