When I was about 17 or 18, after reading about PV cells, I wondered if lenses mounted above would be a good idea. Some years later, NASA, if I recall correctly, did just that with fresnel lenses. So the tech in the video below I found interesting. The bricks they use to store heat can last 30 to 50 years with almost no losses. Fresnel lenses , hot bricks and good old sterling engines. Less space than taken up by solar panels and batteries. How it works is here... https://share.google/Xlgfzkh9PxSkjJyDH

Stunning! But 96% of the worlds hydrogen comes from coal. And we don't have anything like the infrastructure in place for a multitude of stations with cryogenically cooled hydrogen. (Currently 60 in the whole of the US) I'm thinking cars with fuel cells will be like Betamax. Beaten by VHS. Who knows though, if we can manufacture more green hydrogen and build sufficient infrastructure, perhaps hydrogen hyper cars will be an option for some wealthy people. https://www.hyperion.inc/xp1-car 2,038 Horsepower 0-60 in 2.25 seconds. Top Speed 221 MPH. Sounds awesome! Like a space ship. 😁

I know we are not supposed to talk about COVID but I caught it. I spent six days in the hospital where never got out of bed while they drew blood for tests three times a day and pumped me full of antibiotics. I'm cured now but still have to wear a mask in public for the next five days. And I was unable to walk unassisted to the bathroom. I needed a nurse to hold my arm until I got in the bathroom and could grab a grab-iron of the wall. I have a borrowed walker to use for a few days until I get my land legs back. I think I got it at an assisted living facility visiting a sick friend. I made several trips there and never thought about wearing a mask. I was a tou…

I just spent a week at an apartment on 3 mile final to runway 20R at KNBA. Airliners (B73X, A32X and regional jets) flying over the apartment at about 1,000 feet every 3 to 4 minutes from early morning into the night. I sat on the back deck listening to them approach and then flying overhead and was utterly amazed at the enormous power of the airplanes. It doesn't come across in the sim and not even if you sit at the observation point at the airport. From underneath you hear and feel the immense power and the weight of them all around. It was so cool and gave me a perspective on airliners that I never had before. I highly recommend that you try it if you get the cha…

There was me, a few weeks ago, claiming there are few hybrid aircraft around... and here's another one. Small gas engine in the nose, fly by wire, blown lift, 30 knots takeoff. Super short landing and takeoff. 😲 This is the demonstrator, but they have a 9 passenger version they're working on.
