Hangar Chat

This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar.  Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here.  Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc.  Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view.  We allow some latitude, but please remember that, first and foremost, this is a flight-simulator oriented site frequented by people from all walks of life.

She happens to be my favorite book critic, but everyone has their own opinions on these sort of things. 8:41 "Night and Morning" by Edward Bulwer Lytton. This is probably the book most often mocked and made fun of book of all time. It begins, "It was a dark and stormy NIght...". Charles Schultz makes fun of it at least a dozen times in his comic strip Peanuts.

At about 52 seconds into the vid, the stunned crowd goes wild. It actually worked! Think of that! Will wonders never cease?

  13. I just heard about this. This video is a good discussion of the issue. I remember having a discussion about this with a co-worker in the Pentagon in 1976. Eventually we'd have whole movies with actors who were no longer alive and you wouldn't be able to tell it wasn't real. It looks like we're almost there. At one point in that video they talk about making a new episode of the Andy Griffith show with AI, but who would watch? No one I know, but if they made new episodes of the original Star Trek it would get lots of views. If they made a few more seasons of Firefly, I'd watch them... probably. We live in interesting times. Hook

If this guy is correct, stunning that in this day and age, when we are supposed to be looking after the environment and cutting down on stuff dumped on landfill, and cutting down energy usage, that planned obsolescence is still a thing.
