If your town is anything like mine stay inside at midnight tonight when the gun nuts got outside and fire their guns into the air. Those bullets have to come down and they injure and even kill people. So if you live in a gun tot'n community like mine stay safe. Stay indoors until the shooting stops. Here in Roswell the on duty police cars will be parked in the lower level of the parking garage at the Wells Fargo Bank until about half past midnight. https://blogs.bcm.edu/2019/12/31/what-goes-up-must-come-down-the-dangers-of-celebratory-gunfire/ Noel

It's that time of year again. The time when I look back on all the years gone by. And know that they were good. I've been so lucky in my life. I was raised by a single parent in a three room house on a dirt road. I dropped out of high school when I was 16. But now, three college degrees later, I've come to know what real luck is. I've come to love all the less fortunate and have tried to do whatever I can to help them. So to them, and to all of you, I say... Happy New Year....Doug

The UK has Boxing Day the day after Christmas. I have Pantry Day the day after New Year's Eve. We have a walk-in pantry in the kitchen. Not exactly a walk-in pantry, but you can stand in it and close the door behind you. A pantry with 5 shelves and an onion box on the floor. I like to keep things organized but my wife, who has no situational awareness or sense of organization, makes the pantry a helter-skelter affair where you have two or three half opened boxes of the same thing as well as multiple spray cans of all kinds of cooking all...many of them duplicates. So every New Year's Day I drag the trash can to the pantry and go about emptying out the …

When I was a bit younger (like a long time ago) I was always involved in Little League baseball. Player, coach, manager, player agent, league vice president, league president. Well, you get the idea. I loved it. I was heavily involved in my both of my son's baseball programs when the City of Pleasanton came to us with an offer. There was a large parcel of land that had been given to the city with the proviso that it only be used for sports activities. Their proposal was that we could use a portion the land to build baseball fields. But, we, the League had to pay for building the fields. As you can imagine, a LOT of money was involved. In spite of the difficulti…

But not involving animals. My daughters friend went back to the UK and was present when somebody became unwell. Vomiting, unconscious, really bad state, wouldn't wake up. So they rang an ambulance. The ambulance people on the phone asked if he was breathing. They responded yes, he was. So the response was, okay then, we cant come out of he's breathing, the ambulance will come but it could be 7 HOURS! I was stunned!

Decided to do some IFR practice on PilotEdge in some real IMC conditions. Yakima, WA KYKM is a great place to fly IFR procedures as they have many complex DP and Approaches due to the terrain. For this flight I flew the WENAS7 TITON transition, hold then direct WIKIK for the full ILS 27 from WIKIK. Low approach and flew the published missed and held. Took the ILS 27 from XOWLO procedure turn then ILS to land. This was all in a Cessna 210 REP The departure has an DME Arc leg and the approach is a DME Arc. The VOR is off field. I used auto pilot for about 70% of the flight as I hand flew both approaches and half of the DME Arc. Y…

I guess my perception of this event is a bit biased because I'm an animal lover. Especially cats, both large and small. Read this story and tell me if I'm right or wrong when I say they should have shot the janitor, not the tiger. There are a lot more janitors in the world (millions) than there are Malayan tigers (200): https://theblast.com/150463/tiger-killed-at-florida-zoo/ . If you agree with me, please let your feelingd be known at [email protected] .

You'll be missed by so many John. I'll never forget the pre-game parties at Big Ben's. And the celebrations at your house after some of the the really big wins. You did so much for our town. You never had a losing season and you've left the world a better place. My thoughts are with Virginia, Mike, and Joe. R.I.P. You have a lot of friends who'll remember you.

Yesterday I got Jan-Feb issue of AAA Explorer. The lead article is titled 'Desert Crush' and is about how hoards of tourists are going to destroy Arches and Canyonlands National Parks if some sort of arrangement to limit visitors is not put in place. Zion National Park no longer allows automobiles in the park. You park at the entrance and then shuttle busses take you in and out. They have stops along the way so you can get out and hike the trails or just look around. Betty and I have been to every national park and monument in Utah and Arizona. But Canyonlands and Arches has always been a favorite. We've been to Moab many times and visited both parks. They ar…

Hi there, a bit of a random question but does anyone know how Farnborough airport is set up inside the terminal? I'm currently doing a project for my degree on how the airport operates and how it's designed and have no real insight into what it is like to be a passenger going from entrance to gate. Any info or guidance on where I could find this would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!
