Please don't groan! I'm working through all the FCOMS like a good boy. This topic has been opened before but my question is more about practical usage. I know AUTO is default but if you choose MAN and press the button you get the message LANDING ALT on the EICAS but then what? The wheel below has a tool tip and certainly turns but you cannot see what you are setting. I reckon that the cross hatched ground bar is probably moving but this is way out of sight at cruise or descent. The only way you would see it is if you at very low altitude or the actual airfield doing touch and goes. Is there SUPPOSED to be a digital readout somewhere so IF you had to use manual you co…

Interesting observation. I always take note of the ACARS OOOI times for my records. Pushed back at 2058, ACARS recorded it precisely. Took off at 2117, ACARS recorded it precisely. Aircraft was the 747-8i. Then, the sun set shortly after takeoff from JFK (destination FRA) and my FPS did drop to single digits (for some reason, during dusk and dawn I seem to have this issue although other times of the day I have 50-60 FPS in the VC of any complex aircraft, any scenery). The low FPS must have caused the already recorded ACARS times to change. I checked an hour and a half after takeoff and the values changed like this: OUT changed from 2058 to 2105 OFF changed from…

I am wondering what source the EFB on the 748 is using? I am currently doing a flight to PKSim's SKRG airport, which has RWYs designated as 01/19. Also, PFPX showed 01/19 and to spice it up, the FMC had me selecting 01 for approach. However, the EFB shows 18/36 as available runways. What can be the reason please?

Hello everyone. To my understanding, a lot of airlines use Flaps 25 as standard for landing but will increase to Flaps 30 depending on runway length and weather conditions. Assuming weather is calm, around what runway length would pilots start switching to Flaps 30? Also, while you’re here: What wind speed, crosswind component, and/or gust factor would justify Flaps 30? A few question regarding the cabin lights. Is there a texture file or something that would allow me to adjust the color of the cabin lights? Tried looking around and couldn't really find anything anywhere. Also, is there any way to adjust the position of the window shades at night? I wanted to adjust it, so all the shades were open. Not sure if that would be texture related, either. Thanks.

Hi there everyone, I'm currently having an issue in the PMDG 747-400 (Not tested it with the 747-8) where the windshield will develop a "foggy" or "steamy" effect. I've attached two screenshots below, one of which shows the colours of the simulator outside of the cockpit, and the other one showing the colour inside. You can clearly see there is some sort of fog effect on the windshield which is causing visibility issues at times, and more importantly it is taking away some of the great colours from the internal views of the aircraft looking at the outside surroundings through the windows. Hi PMDGers. Great planes you've made here. I found what seems to be a small visual bug. I did a search but didn't see it mentioned, so just thought I'd post this on the off chance you weren't aware. I noticed with Rainmaker now in the -400 that there's what seems to be a misalignment of the fog layer on the rearmost pilot-side cockpit window. If the windows fog up, that window's fog seems to be tilted inboard toward the rear of the window - - detached from the window itself. The -8's cockpit does not look like this. I can provide pictures tonight if you need to see them.

Never had an issue with initializing ACARS to give me the go-ahead with selecting my route before in the 747-8i, except this morning. IRSs set to give me the IRS Position in the FMC, set to align in real time, the requisite trio of DEP, ARR and Flt No. all input, yet ACARS does not want to initialise, nor does the ND want to display anything. Route I was trying was FSDT's KDFW to default TNCM. Anyone any idea what's happening here? Thanks.

I recently transitioned from the 747-400 to the 747-8. With the -400, as I always understood it, fuel planning required me to land with at least 30,000 lbs of fuel remaining to prevent the main fuel pumps from overheating? Now that I am flying the -8, do I still need to land with 30,000 lbs of fuel? Bill Clark

I recently reinstalled the 747 after a break and have ran into an issue I don't recall having before. Just like the title says, the siren will not silence after disconnecting the autopilot. The ONLY way I can get the siren to stop is if I toggle it from Wailer, to Siren, and back to Wailer again (Warning Sys page 21/22). I've tried all of the following: 1 Using the AP disco switch (R-click on TOGA click spot, CNTRL-SHIFT-z, and even clicking on the rendered yoke). I've tried hitting it twice, and recofiguring it to 1-Press and hitting it once without any luck 2. Pushing the master caution/warning light after hitting the disco button 3. Using the disco …

Hey everyone, First off, I’m brand new to this forum, so if I do something wrong please help me out. Earlier today I tried to fly the 747-400D out of RJTT, however the aircraft starting rolling backwards as soon as I removed the wheel chocks (my parking brake was set and hydraulics pressurized), manually braking did nothing, and I even tried starting the engines and even at full throttle, the aircraft continued to roll backwards. is this a known issue? Does anyone know a workaround for it?

So I had 2 quick questions about the range and weights of the 747-800. 1. Is the range that's listed in P3D in the aircraft detail section the range when fully loaded or the range when empty? 2. When doing a ferry flight is it possible to have a payload weight of zero or is there always some weight added besides the pilots? Thanks

Good day, today i was trying to update my 747 v3 QOTSII to the last version (3.00.8464). As usual i click on install update, a second later the cmd window popup performing the update. Just a couple of seconds later the window close just like when the update is finished. But in my case if i close and re-open the PMDG Op center it tells me again to update. Hello all, Just this evening I had a CTD while vacating the rwy in Anchorage after a flight from MYNN. I tried to get the whole error report but it was quite lengthy, and I couldn't copy or past it. I'll give you guys all the info I was able to receive and relocate through the event viewer and last problem reports. I was flying the 747-8F. Weird thing was, after the crash I tried to restart the flight and and screens were black and controls unresponsive. I was able to push any buttons or click any knobs. Tried to do the return leg default TNCM to FSDT's KDFW, but no matter what, including clearing all the saved panel states, I just could not get the ACARS to give me the go ahead to Request the PFPX-created and saved Flightplan. Checked that the Flightplan was in the correct usual folder. Had no issues with departing KDFW. Just the return leg, same aircraft, just changed the Flt No to GTI637. ACARS accepted the Departure and Arrival airports but would not go to that SYNC bit at the bottom, no matter how long I waited for the IRSs to align, etc, including trying a Instant setting, etc. Is there an issue with the default TNCM?
