It's nice to see updates coming out now and the new process could prove to be excellent. However, I'm not sure if I like the new exhaust efflux effects - they can hardly be seen at all. Actually you might argue that they're more realistic now, but the original version looked good and it was something new we don't normally see in FSX much. I understand it was done due to performance issues - can there at least be an option for selecting the full effect for those of use who didn't have any performance issues? The same issue applies to the contrails - they seem to have been downgraded with this update. Looked much better before. There's also a bug with the ext…

Just updated the OC version. When that completed I clicked on the update for the 747v3 - however, I keep receiving the following error message: "The program can't start because MSVCP140.dll is missing from your computer.Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem" Of course I googled the dll file, and the common factor is related to Visual C++. However, I'm fairly certain my PC is up to date. Any thoughts/suggestions? Steve

While reading about the service based failures, I had a thought about the mileage/hours each air frame has covered. I keep an Excel spreadsheet of my flights but it's pretty basic. I was curious if there was somewhere in the FMC that kept a track of how many hours\miles each air frame has covered so you can look it up as you fly that particular plane.

I have just purchased and installed the PMDG 747 but as the aircraft loads the flight deck is visible but all the screen guages are blank-just a flight deck with no information. Not sure what has gone wrong but would appreciate some feedback/observations please. Many thanks. Michael

A couple of issues and inaccuracies with the FMC, not sure if this is the proper channel to discuss these or PMDG direct support is, maybe someone can let me know (Kyle)... 1. When you enter a route first, specifically just the first waypoint, like SEA.J90.MWH on the route page and then you go to Departures, enter a runway, there should be no direct connection between the runway and the first waypoint (SEA). There should be dashes (---) under via and then SEA. If you put the runway in first and then the route, under via it will say DIRECT to the first waypoint (in this case SEA). The PMDG FMC defaults to DIRECT in both of these cases, which is not accurate. If ATC ga…

I'm doing a repaint of the 747-400ER. In that folder the only config is for the GE engines. I think this model also used PW engines IRL, but I'm not certain of that. Is this the case, or (at least with this release) the only engine modeled is the GE. That's fine if that's the case, I'm just trying to get handle on exactly what I can and can't do. For example, I would have to copy in the Sound and Model folders for the PW, but when it comes to the air file, there isn't one for the PW in terms of the ER model (there is for the straight 400 but not the ER). Is my assumption then correct that the engines to use for the ER version are the GE's? Many thanks for the help. …

Dear all, I am using AS16, however, I am somehow not able to really initiate weather radar. When I switch on wxr on panel I get blue signs on display (wxr, -2A, VAR), however no coloured map of clouds... When I switch button TEST (on wxrd panel) I can see red test colours on display, but then again only black display with navigation directions but no clouds... Any thing wrong I do ? many thanks !

I have been flying the 747 QOTSII the second it was released and 98% of the flights I have done had no problem whatsoever. But for some reason, the RAAS that came with the 747 just stopped working entirely, I think it may have to do with updating some file. Another issue I had and can't understand why is the fact that on some flights, I don't get any ILS guidance at all. I go into the NAV RAD and double check the frequency with the one shown on the map of the airport on P3D and I enter that frequency and course in. But when I get to the approach I cannot arm or turn on LOC or APP which makes lower visibility flying a bit difficult. One thing that may be an indicator of th…

I'd like to make some repaints of real world ground handlers to use with the 747 :) (for example LSG SkyChefs or GateGourmet Catering, Swissport Stairs and baggage loaders...)

Has anyone tried the GPS Inhibit function in the FMS? When I select this option the IRS becomes the position sensor for the FMS, but it jumps a few hundred miles. Anyone else seeing this too?

While doing research, I came across a few things that have me intensely curious. Most of Atlas Airs' fleet is designated( at least, as far as Airliners.net is concerned...) 747-47UF/SCD...Most of UPS's fleet is 747-44AF/SCD. Now, the SCD probably stands for Side Cargo Door, or something of that nature... but...There's a -4HAF/ER/SCD, -4J6M, -4R7F/SCD...I'm guessing it has to do with the type of engines installed, or special equipment...Can someone enlighten me? I'm having trouble with the aircraft busting the 250kt speed restriction under 10,000 feet. Once the aircraft becomes airborne, the speed selection jumps to 235kts. However, when the plane reaches around 6,000 feet, the speed selection goes to 275kts. I usually reach that speed well before 10,000 feet. What am I doing wrong in the TOGA config? I even inserted a 250kt speed restriction under 10,000 feet into the FMC. That didn't do anything. Also, I've had a couple of occasions where I've engaged the TOGA switches on the takeoff roll. After the takeoff power is set and the airspeed is building, the throttles all of a sudden automatically go to idle. What's that…

Hello, I'm having issues with engine #1 not producing any thrust after start up. I have followed the tutorial and am not sure what is causing this. This happens with all livery's. When I start all engines everything looks good (N1,N2,fuel flow, oil p, oil q) except engine #1 oil temp is low (yellow). When I increase throttle #1 nothing happens. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Matt Wright

Hey, so after I save my flight then I have an oom or just exit the flight and reload unlike the 737/777 the panel state is not as it was, the engines are not running, I have some power, my flight plan is intact but other settings from the FMC are lost and the autopilot is not set as was and some switches are out of position... like gears down for a start and then won't go back up.... any help would be grate! Thanks.

All, This current version for P3D V3 is essentially unusable while the OUT of MEMORY or OOM (look it up...) issue is unresolved. I have flown it everywhere, with any an all "suggestions" and tweaks. the OOM problem is unsolvable. The model is clearly unfit for, or beyond 3D V3. IMHO Niall Kavanagh

Hope this havent been brought up already, ran a quick forum search but didnt find anything This just happened to me yesterday, flying into TNCM using the RWY10 RNAV (GNSS) approach via MNOLO transition. The approach requires a ~90 degree left hand turn at OTMUT entering the base leg followed by another 90 degree left hand turn at AVAKI to line up with the final approach. When going into the first turn at OTMUT the aircaft took it way too tight, then realized its mistake and performed a daredevil style right hand turn to get back onto the magenta line before tackling the second left hand turn into final approach fix. So it basically went full bank left, full bank righ…

Hi everyone In my Queen, the "Use last flight eng oil" function does not seem to work. I have it activated in "PMDG Setup" - "Options" - "Simulation", but at the beginning of each flight I always have the same oil level values: 20-20-21-20. Since the last oil level refill with the CDU I have flown about 25 hours, on flights of 3-4 hours (I am still familiarizing with the Queen). My simulator is FSX and the plane I'm flying is the PH-BFN from KLM, "Fixed configuration" option is blanked and I'm using "744 Long" as "Startup State". Any help, please? Thank you. Antonio
