    having used the new 747 for a few days, I love it. I HAVE read the manual based on the functions I have had trouble with, but, I have questions I would appreciate clarification on the following: (please forgive any duplication's I may post on accident) 1) I want to simulate a brake failure/ tire burst upon landing. I know I can set it up via a timer or "ARM" it.... perhaps I just am clueless to its interpretation, but am I to understand that "Arming it" would activate the tire burst at touch down? How could one program that? Or, program an engine failure to occur at V1 etc... 2) I am one who likes to do the start process from Cold and Dark. I follow the full che…

    Hi guys, on the 747 V3, 1) I am a bit puzzled with the on the calculation of ZFW. When I set the weights' on the weights page on the CDU it gives me immediately the ZFW value on the perf init page. So when I add the flaps value, I'm not getting the T/O speeds values, even with the setting on CDU calculates speed values. I think the problem is on the perf init page where you write in the weights for the trip you planning. Sometimes it works ok but other times I can not get the T/O speed values. So in short, when I open the page for the ZFW, reserve, cost index, etc, the ZFW is already there and then, I can not get the T/O speeds. 2) Is there a way that we can set …

    Hi to everybody, I've a problem with the TOGA during the take off. Model 747.000 and ER version After entering in the runway, I activate the autothrottle and then I push the throttle to 50%. Then I push the TOGA button and the system push the throttle to the power established by the fmc. After a while I hear a sound like a FMC message (but nothing appears on the fmc and on both EICAS) and after a second the throttle come back to the last position I left them before pushing the TOGA button, and the throttle is free to move even if the autothrottle level is ON.     As I understand it SPEEDBRAKES do display as ARMED in the upper EICAS display when armed but there is no display for them when they are EXTENDED. You can only see this if you visually check the lever on the pedestal. Is that correct ?

Hi chaps, For some reason (since the update, though almost certainly coincidentally) I haven't been able to set the stabiliser trim on the new 747 prior to pushback with pre-start items complete and AUX pump on sys 4 running. I can only set the trim once the engines are started. Can't be a bug as I know PMDG wouldn't make a mistake like that, so it's obviously something I'm doing wrong. By the way, my trim mappings are fine and the trim switches are moving on the control column, they just don't do anything. Cheers,

    Just purchased the 747 QOTS, installed it, and have some major problems. I am starting it in the Long Turn around state. First, I have a transparent nose in the Select Aircraft screen, that never displays normally. When the aircraft appears at its airport, the initial VAS reading was 1,215,331 which immediately dropped to 666,628 as soon as the initialization process started. From there the VAS leaked down to about 300,000 by the time I got everything turned on and started to set up the FMC. The OOM came shortly after takeoff. My PMDG 777 initializes at about 937,000 on the VAS readout, and stays between 800,000 and 900,000 for the whole flight…

  8. Hi all, just a question regarding the use of the FMC. RadarContact normally gives a crossing restriction like "be leveled in 30 miles or less". I was wondering how to comply with that using the FMC. Is it possible to create a new Fix on the route 30 miles ahead which is not related to any waypoint ? Or any other accurate method ? (For the moment I am using the green decent range circle, but obvioulsy that isnt accurate enough) thanks in advance for your help

    Flying KSFO to VHHH, was at FL380 at N33 28'40" E135 51' 27", so a couple of hours out of VHHH and had a CTD, no error window, checked the event log, nothing. Sim paused for Tank to Engine in the last 10 minutes, set and continued, autostep climb and auto acceleration active.     The A/C is freezing as the Initialization hits either 1 or 0. The only thing that I have done recently is to update my FSDT setup_addonmanagerX with their latest version, to see if it solves a sporadic NTDLL.DLL error that I have been getting. After I installed the latest vs. I started P3D and the freeze started again. I shut down and restarted and tried default settings with no aval. Both 737 and 777 are loading without issue. Will try original remedy that I was provided last time to see if it works at lunch. I will report back. NOTE: I have noticed that this has now happened when I updated ASN and when I updated FSDT to update my COUATL.exe. I am curious if this is…

    On my flight from KJFK to KSFO, I suddenly received a FUEL IMBALANCE message on the EICAS together with a TANK/ENG message. After cleaning up the TANK/ENG message, the FUEL IMBALACE remained. Reading the QRH and checking the EICAS fuel page did not bring me any further on how to proceed. Any ideas how to resolve this issue? Thanks, Holger

    Hello everyone, I am having an autopilot issue with my QOTS II . I encountered this problem since my first flight with the autopilot system. I set my route as usual following all the procedure. Also, I have already switch on FD then LNAV and VNAV on ground before takeoff. But as soon as I was airborne, I switch on the Left autopilot as it immediately show VNAV ALT and autopilot disengaged. I try to switch to center and right autopilot and the same problem happened again. Here is a screenshot of the problem.

    I'm currently in a situation where I can't solve a route discontinuity. In fact, I'm unable to do anything on the LEGS or RTE pages at all. It just ignores every input and I can only navigate using HDG SEL. I can hardly imagine this is correct behavior. I hope you can help me! EDIT: I just now tried selecting a DEP/ARR to try if that would resolve the problem. However, even when I try the LSK for a specific runway, it displays 'INVALID ENTRY' on the scratchpad. EDIT2: I found a workaround by loading the route into RTE2, so I can resume LNAV navigation. However, when trying to load the route into RTE1 again, I get 'NO ROUTES AVAILABLE'. Kevin Schepers

    When starting the engines on the v2 747-400X, you would see a magenta line on the EICAS engine management screen which would let you know when to open the fuel run switch during manual startup, approximately at 13. I don't see how to activate this option on the v3 PMDG so I'm not sure when to open the switch during startup, i've been opening it when it gets to 2.0 but not sure if that's correct. Can anyone let me know when I should be opening the switch?

    Hi everyone, I have just noticed when in a behind wing view i can see what looks like smoke or some sort of texture coming from the wing ( seems from the engines ) I didn't notice this when first using the PMDG 747 so thought i would check if this was something added with the update? I just want to be sure its not something wrong, I have checked with all over aircraft and even the PMDG 777 but do not notice it. Thank you :)

    Hi, I've noticed in both the 747-400 QOS II and 737 NGX that the beacon light pattern is very random. It doesn't flash consistently. It flashes 5 times then stops for 2 seconds then flashes again 2 times etc. IS this normal or is there a setting I can change? Thanks.

    Hey folks, Like everybody else, I have been enjoying my flying with the Queen since day 1 :-) I just have a few things which bother me (and I hope you can help me on this) 1) Idle taxi: After applying breakaway power, I find myself obliged to keep my engines at around 29-30% N1 to keep the plane moving (not even at MTOW).. I remember Mr Randazzo mentioning something about some magic being done in P3D to help with that? I re-installed the lua Friction module in FSUIPC, but it does not seem to help. Should I remove it?     Dear PMDG team, I remember that the original QOTS had a nice little feature that allowed the simmer to remove the winglets to "offer" a 747-200/300 visuals. Was it considered during the QOTSII developement process? If yes, was there at that time any reason to choose not to include this option? I think that would be sweet... ITOH, if there was a reason not to, it could mean that a true 747-200/300 simulation is not ruled out in the future...   25. After several weeks of flying this great aircraft I just have one thing which I would really love to see improved. And that is the autoflight pitch behaviour on VNAV, FL CHG and (sometimes) GS. I really appreciate that the aircraft is adhering very exactly to vertical and speed profiles, but I personally find that it achieves that by doing quite abrupt/jerky adjustments on the pitch axis which one wouldnt expect from such a heavy aircraft. Sometimes it just let fall the nose quite rapidly, sometimes adjustments are like "lower nose - stop - lower nose - stop....." instead of a steady smooth and slow adjustment.
