    So... what's cooking everyone? Over here, something with a sligthly different concept. So... as you might know, Swissair started operating the 747 in 1971 with delivery of two 747-257Bs. After a satisfactory service period, an order was placed for further 747-200s with SUD mod, which was later converted to 747-300s. Four 747-357s joined Swissair fleet in 1983, two of those Combis, joined by another Combi in 1987. The upcoming series of fictional repaints will chronicle the life of a 747-457M, which would have been selected to complement and later replace the older 300s, joining the Swissair fleet somewhere in the mid-90s.     Hi folks, I'm loving my long hauls in the new Jumbo. I fly very often between Europe and US , and am keen to learn more about any procedures or considerations I should be fulfilling at the preparation stage and when entering Atlantic airspace. Apart from possibly entering equi-time points into the FIX page and keeping an eye on the weather at suitable diversion airports, are there any other procedures I should be completing before or entering the Atlantic?   6. Are software updates and their changelog details posted/notified somewhere ? Yes, it will show me there's something new when I launch the PMDG operations center but unless I do this (and I don't do it each time before launching P3D) there is no other way for me to know there's been a software update and also to learn what has been updated with it. I seem to recall a post here about the first update that came out but I can't find it now. It would be nice for example if the above were posted in form of a pinned locked post on top where we could subscribe and get notifications from avsim forum each time the post was updated with a new entry.

    Hi to all, there are 2 differences between the QOSII and older versions that I haven't understod yet. Perhaps somebody can help: 1. The tooltip for the Stab Trim are gone! I know that I can get it approximately correct by eye but it's no longer the same to be honest. I'd prefer the good old fashioned tooltips which were there in the PMDG 747-400X. 2. The TCAS above/below switch has disapperead. Or at least I can't find it anymore. So is it there in the real aircraft or not and if it's modeled in the QOS II where can I find it.     Hi guys, I was wondering if you could help me with this. I just took off out of CYYZ and the first part of the SID is vectors out of 06R. Normally after flying vectors you can go into the FMC and line select the next cleared way point and put it at the top of the LEGS page on LSK1. For some reason now it doesn't let me do that. I'm currently flying the route in heading select mode, but I would like to be able to switch it back to LNAV and let if follow the flightplan. Any idea what I could be doing wrong here?     Hi PMDG team, A question regarding the "Direct To" function of the FMS. I noticed that the autopilot tends to behave quite abruptly, ie large bank angle to capture the new track. IIRC the NGX or the 777 do not behave so quickly and limit the bank angle to 15° or so. Is this consistent with the real airplane behaviour? Is there a smoother way to use the "Direct To" option?   10. I need some help figuring out what I'm doing wrong on take off using the 747 when its set to reduced to CLB thrust at flap 5 selection.   12. Good day. Do any users experience oscillation of the auto throttle during idle descent? Set-up is autothrottle, LNAV & VNAV armed and hardware throttles to idle. The engines oscillate from idle to almost full throttle during the descent and eventually settle out before touch down. I use ASN and was under the assumption this was weather related but it occurs during calm conditions as well. I'm not sure whether this is a normal response but on the same route I do not experience this with the 737 or 777. Regards.

    I use PFPX and Topcat for flight planning. Topcat will advise on Assumed temp and derated takeoff power. How do I decide to use Climb, Climb1 or Climb 2? I think airlines use published tables for airport runways but we do not have these in the sim world. Any ideas on doing this? thanks Paul Burley

  14. Hello, First off, 747-400 QOSII is a masterpiece. Love the plane. I enjoy that when I have a message pop up on the EICAS, I can look it up in the quick reference handbook and learn how to deal with the message. Makes me feel like I am flying the real thing. Fuel system management is very cool. Autopilot seems to be incredibly realistic. Now to my question, I'm using a relatively old Precision T5500 workstation with a pretty good XEON X5687 chip and 6GB of system RAM. I have a geForce GTX 750 TI with 2gb of video RAM.     Dear all - I've noticed that the MCP on the BA 747s (in sim, no changes made to the default config assigned by the official repaints) have changed to an LCD MCP. Is this correct, a bug, or have I inadvertently changed something without realising? I was pretty sure the BA examples had the old fashioned 'wobbly numbers' rather than 777-esq liquid crystals. The rest of the avionics seem consistent with the earlier (and 'old') representation. Thanks

    I need help installing my pmdg 747 for p3d. Before it works perfectly but after a month I had to reinstall it again and now it doesn't work anymore. When i chose the aircraft in p3d it gave me an aircraft with black gauge and there is nothing to enter my product key.

  18. Hello to all! Today (March 25), VATSIM had their biannual "Croos the Pond" event, this time westbound. Given the reports that some folks were experiencing crashes of P3D after long periods of flight, I thought that I would start this topic, so that pilots who flew the P3D B744 v3 in this event, can report on their experiences.     Hey guys I'm having trouble getting back on VNAV for descent after I've added in a step climb along the flight and flight changed up to the new level. I know I'm missing something obvious but can't find the answer in the tutorials using step climb as a search. My T\D marker has gone and I can't remember how to add the new cruise level to the VNAV path so it recalculates your T\D marker and descends automatically as per normal (with the MCP altitude reconfigured prior to pause at T/D etc.) Appreciate a reminder on how to do it!     Hello I want to say that I am not a pilot, I make a proposal, if I am wrong I hope to learn, so I repeat I can be wrong!!!!! During the APU Start the PMDG AFT MAIN 2 and 3 PRESS light are extinguished, but I think that, during start only MAIN 2 AFT PRESS gotta be extinguished and when the APU is running the MAIN 2 and 3 AFT PRESS light is extinguished.

    So I am simulating a non-GPS aircraft by failing the left and right GPS's and disabling GPS position updates. I have some funny things happening with the tracking of LNAV. With the radios in autotune, on the ND it just shows INS(3). When I go to either FMS and select POS INIT 2/3, then the NDs show DD(dme/dme) and INS(3) below it and the aircraft seems to be about 5nm off course and the aircraft turns to correct that. As soon as the FMC page leaves POS INIT 2/3 (either 1/3, 3/3, or another page altogether), the DD leaves the ND and the aircraft turns back to the original course. When the GPS is operating, GPS is always displayed on the ND. Is this a bug or does the …

    Quick question, I am trying to install the 747 in both FSX and FSX:SE side by side. I installed FSX:SE after FSX so when I tried to install it in steam all I got was the option to repair or uninstall. So I uninstalled thinking I would get the option to do both when I reinstalled. I didn't get that option. Do I need to buy another copy of the 747? Any ideas?
