PMDG 747 Queen of the Skies II

My QOS was not happy this morning. [Running P3Dv3.4] Started a flight/session as usual (J3 Cub, secure engine), and loaded up a KLM GE Equipped 744. Set Panel State to 'LONG.' Everything appeared (visually) to correctly set the LONG state, except for these engine sounds made when at idle. Instruments indicated the engines were secured. Upon external inspection, the GE's spooled down to a stop, however, still aurally heard idle engine sounds. Cycled 'Q' several times in different views, with no success. Rebooted several times selecting SHORT, COLD/DARK and even manually secured engines, with the same results. I am puzzled. Any ideas?

I am extremely interested in using the FMS Fixed Config option. The intro manual has a short explanation of what it will do, but makes no mention of where it is. I have Googled it, searched this Forum and gone thru the last 15 pages of this Forum with no luck. Hello All, I have just purchased this amazing add on for FSX and notices that the software "requirements" lists a video card with at least 1 GB of VRAM and DirectX9 compatible whereas the "recommended" hardware requirements lists a video card with 4GB of VRAM and DirectX11 compatible. I currently have an ASUS GTX 680 with 2GB of VRAM. Given I am using FSX ( which I thought was CPU dependant and not video card dependant), is it worth upgrading to a GTX 1060/1070/1080? Will I get a significant increase in quality and FPS by spending money on this upgrade? (MY CFPU is an aging i7 3770 overclocked to 4.2 GHz). On page 40.0 of the Tutorial manual it outlines the steps to access the LS6R "STEP" prompt which allows one to "walk" through each enroute waypoint in the loaded flight plan. This pre-flight verification is a required item prior to departure at least on my former airline. In Mike Ray's, who was one of the beta testers on our "Queen" and a former UAL 747-400 Captain's wonderful book, 747-400 PILOT HANDBOOK - SIMULATOR AND CHECKRIDE PROCEDURES, He outlines the same procedure but in greater detail on page 100. I'm having a small issue since updating the 747. I mainly fly from the cockpit view and view left or right to give a view out of the cockpit. I'm using a homecockpit option. Since the update if i view left or right i can now see the wing tip and outer engine from withing the cockpit but there are no textures displaying. The wing and engine are just white in colour. Ive tried a new livery but its still the same. Is there some way to disable the wing/engine from being displayed from within the cockpit? All other views are working perfectly.

Not an issue...mostly the operator but where is the setting to display both FMC's. Somehow or another I got it in single mode. Thanks, Bob M.

Hi After first installation I could see a green bar displaying a legend with a countdown for systems initialization but now just doesn´t appear and the plane in cold and dark, no posibility of switching o pressing or turning any knobs. Gear is up and from ext the plane is floating. what is going on? Thanks

Does anyone know where I can get the EZdok profiles which came with the QOSII aircraft? I deleted all of the external views because I was having an issue, but once I resolved the issue I was looking for the original EZDok profile to reload. I can't find it in the installation folders. thanks in advance. Brian Andonian

Currently sat on the flight deck on N451PA, a Polar DHL repaint, and I think there is something funny going on with HYD PUMP 1, it shows AUX as a switch item but you can't activate it. If you go to the FMC to check the aircraft options it shows (on page 13) NO against HYD1 AUX PUMP INSTALLED... Perhaps an error in the repaint? Not sure. Cheers Craig

Hi there, I see payload on the 400F when I select max or random payload. But I don't see any freight when entering weight's manually. Is this intended that this is only working when switching random or max? Does the freight gets visible when preselecting manually and then using ground ops? Second question: max value give's a ZFS of 631k LBS. Is this right? The ERF gets only 611k LBS which should be the correct value for 400F? And are the weight values really the same for all 3 engine types? Hope someon can clarify. Thanks, Stefan

Take off normally, gear up and then after passing 1,500 ft engage autopilot. It engages. FD is replaced by CMD. The after 5 seconds a yellow caution comes on, EICAS shows message Auto pilot disconnected and then the red warning that the A/P has disconnected. Silence the siren by pressing A/P assigned button. Happens when setting up from SHORT, LONG and Cold and Dark. Any ideas please. It's very frustrating. The 777 on the same rig with the same button allocations works a dream. Thank You

When I quit FSX, closing the FS generates a kernel32.dll error in the Windows Troubleshooting report. hi all im in love with this aircraft however i have one issue, When i go to an outside view or wing view etc i dont have the sound of the engines. when i am in cockpit view the sounds are beautiful and perfect but any external view i only have the wind noise i have gone into the sim and fmc and ensured my headset is the sound receiver like i normally do for the 777 but this hasnt changed anything i hope you can advise Stewart Cumbers

I think I have gone through the Doors in the documents that came with the 747v2....unless I am missing a document. I have gone in and assigned all doors Key Assignments. In the FMC under doors..the only option I have are I believe three. Trying to remember lol...Close All Doors..Arm all doors..Disarm all doors. I do not know where to go from here. Opening doors and closing doors. I can hit these key assignments till the cows come home and nothing happens. Its been so long ago I flew the old 747 in fsx which hasn't worked for years..Do Not Remember. lol. I know about ground power etc (if that has anything to do with it? Any ideas on how to prevent brakes overheating on taxi. I was taxiing out for CTP today and was really concentracting on being "light" on the brakes as speed built during taxi....with throttles at min btw....F1 to make sure. I still got the overhead warning by the time I reached the runway and 1 tire deflated. Anyone else having this issue?

At night whenever i try to do flights on the QOTS there is always a weird texture issue, where half of the aircraft loads, while the other half fails to load the night texture. This happens on every single repaint of the 747, and only started yesterday

Hi all, i have the pmdg 747 v3 and have GSX. However, I can't use gsx. When I use the keys to pop up the menu screen it doesn't pop up. Also when I go the add on list, I can't see gsx. But when I'm using the pmdg 737 and 777, this works. Does anybody know why I can't use gsx with the 747 and how do I fix this? thx for ur help in advance

Has anyone had an issue with, after engine start, your APU Gens will remain in the ON position and not automatically switch to the AVAIL position? If I turn off the APU or the generators after engine start I lose power to the aircraft. With the engines running I have also seen the warning message the engine generators are not on, but with I look at the electrical switches they are normal. To try and figure out the problem I have gotten rid of saves, all my panel states, leaving the default. I have loaded fresh. selected the 744 default state that comes with the aircraft and the engines are running. I shut them down to test and relight then as normal procedure I use. …

So.... Today for me was the biggest test that I could put the PMDG747 version 2 through. I was a bit nervous and wary of VAS just because of flight time and the hundreds and hundreds of AI aircraft I would encounter on my travels from Taxi2Gate Munich all the way over to FlyTampa Toronto. And to much delight it past with flying colours!! This was also my first CTP event and i wanted it to go smoothly and be successful. The Queen surely delivered. I arrived after 08hrs and 45mins with a VAS reading of 30% remaining so loads of room. The systems, the model was just insane. I will try and get some shots put up asap. But I just want to say to the PMDG…

Hello guys, SATCOM message on the EICAS. Checked QRH, no resolution found, only information that the SATCOM failed. No resolution found in the FCOM either. Returned to stand, company SOP says no departure until solved. I also had a SPLIT IRS message on the FMC so I guess I (again) temporarily lost power when turning off the APUs. Can someone help me out how can I sort out the SATCOM issue? Cheers!

Hi everybody, I have a question regarding the shutdown procedure. Everytime I "push both overhead APU generator switches to transfer power from the engine generators before shutdown" (as per the tutorial) the caution beeper is blaring at me and the upper EICAS is showing the warnings: ELEC GEN OFF 4 ELEC GEN OFF 3 ELEC GEN OFF 2 ELEC GEN OFF 1 Am I doing something wrong or is this just the way the aircraft behaves?
