Hello, since I updated Steve's Fixer to the latest version my night textures have all become illuminated, which i don't want. I use Megascenery photoreal textures and they use to be dark at night. Now they look like this: How do I get them back to their original dark state? Paul

I've reinstalled Fixer to update it to the latest version following Steve's procedure here: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/423381-updating-to-a-new-release-flight-sim-store/ However, I can't install the libraries; I get the following error message: Error copying E:\FSX\Effects\texture\fx_2.bmp. Error was 2 Any suggestions on how to best address this would be gratefully appreciated, thanks.

If anyone is running sweetfx with the DX10 fixer installed would you like to share some sweetfx settings? I had sweetfx set up really nice in DX9 but its horribly pixilated with DX10 been fidileing around and not getting anywhere and should SMAA been turned off in sweetfx or not? Cheers Rod.

Hi everyone, There have been so many posts since the release of Steve's DX10Fixer and I was concerned some details being lost within. Forgive me for sounding stupid. I have been in and out of the loop lately and don't want to mess things up. Is it as easy as running the installer pretty much? Is there any specific things that need to be done after? I saw some options within the installer that a few have selected wrong settings perhaps and messed things up? I wanted to purchase and download this evening. Any input is greatly appreciated. Several times over the past...forget how long, I've tried DX10 and came away less than impressed. The Fixer came out and I became, well, a little bit impressed. There were still a few deal breakers for me to be fully sucked in. 1:The aircraft selection window refused steadfastly to be anti-aliased (I use it for painting) 2: Flashing GPS in the VC and 3: Tiny pinpricks of 'light' at airports. I begrudgingly accepted 1, tried not to look at 2 and pretended the pinpricks of light were people photographing my perfect landings. :rolleyes: Then last week I tried to reinstall AMD's 34.4 drivers. Is there a combination of settings to get rid of the milk colored water at night? Seems like I saw a post on this somewhere but can't find it. I'm using REX as well if it makes any difference. I've just switched to the version 19.

I just DL the new version #19 from my account at FSS . Install went fine , but now when I try to install libraries it is asking for my email and key # ? . During the install the wrapper already got my order info . Any help would be appreciated . John

Well I finally bought Steve's dx 10 Fixer, but I have a problem, when I set AA in the fixer interface to 8xcsaa, or even just 8x for some reason something not working right here. I now have dx10 preview checked in fsx,antialiasing is unchecked in fsx as well and then I close fsx down for a reboot, and no antialiasing is showing up once I reboot to dx10. In my fsx/cfg - their are 2 lines added multisamples pixels=4 multisample quality=8 in nivida inspector which I was using for dx9 I have 4x sparse grid sampling the nivida control panel I do not bother with, since I was using exclusively nivida inspector for dx9. But beyond this, there is nothing specifically mentioned on: how one obtains an update how one goes about applying an update how purchasers will (or can) be notified on the availability of updates Sorry about not being able to read between the lines in the mentioned topic (and not dredging through all the other topics), but I'd like to know "the absolute truth" for the above bullet-ed items. I love DX10 but i missed the smoothness of free patches. I remembered that i had the same frames as now with the Fixer (25-30fps) but it was smoooooth!! How can i get this performance again? At this moment my DX9 is smoother than DX10.

I guess I just haven't got the know how to make DX10 look really nice but the performance is amazing. I am at a loss as how to improve the visuals in the sim. I would appreciate any feedback that more knowledgeable folks around here have. I am having issues with AA where I am experiencing some jagged edges on runway markings and the aircraft I fly do not have a smooth look to them, buildings and trees do not have as smooth an appearance as they did in DX9. I have set the DX10 Scenery Fixer Anti Aliasing to 16x CSAA. Below are my NI settings as well as the FSX.CFG attached. Please could you clarify a few details before I proceed with this. I have not tried DX10 preview yet. I have made various tweaks to the FSX.CFG such as those recommended in the document "FSX Performance Tips and tweaks" If I installed this software would this undo all these tweaks or would I need to put all these tweaks back afterwards' A friend said that once installed it can be undone by the click of a button. In this case would my FSX.CFG go back to what it was prior to installing DX10 fixer. Probably a dumb question: If I’m running DX10 (set by using the Fixer), and I delete and rebuild my FSX.CFG, will my FSX come back up in DX9 mode (since all the tweaks done to the .cfg file by the Fixer are now gone)? My understanding is that only the FSX.CFG file gets affected / changed by the Fixer 9although I have manually changed my NV Inspector). Thanks, Bruce.

2. Double and Triple Check that your current version is installed in a sub directory of program files. If not see note at end. NOTE - IF you have installed DX10SceneryFixer into your FSX directory, then do NOT UNINSTALL. Start at Step4 and install the new version into the default location. And how about installing it OUTSIDE of program files directory but NOT INTO FSX directory? In my case I installed in C:\DX10SceneryFixer directory. So how do I proceed? I installed DX10 fixer, but, well,... Let me start at the beginning. I was running DX9 beautifully, but always wanted to run DX10. Could NEVER get it to work even unsing Steve's guides and others. Close, but no cigar. Sorry, Bill (Clinton). Meanwhile, running a Core i7 2600K OC'd to 5.6GHz, great video, 32 Gb RAM, fast mobo, and FSX on it's own SSD. One fast machine. I had 2 Radeon 6870's running in Crossfire, and one went tango uniform. Sent back to XFX, and they graciously sent me a new Ghost series 7870 2Gb card. Some, if not many ORBX airports have problems to display static airplanes (and other static objects) properly in dx10 mode (fixer applied). Many objects display a BLACK SQUARE below the object (eg PAJN). I am not sure, but I cannot imagine that it is such a big deal to make static aircraft dx10 compatible. And I am very disappointed with ORBX because it seems they ignore it and/or refuse improvements for dx10 compatibility. Is there any chance that dx10 scenery fixer will solve this problem? Is there any thing that I could do (except turn off static ac in FTX central)? Cheers, Harry

Hey, I just bought my copy like an hour or so before this post. I installed some textures via Rex Essentials (with all SPs), and in water selection - I did click on DX10 optimization with textures set to 1024. Now, when I am in the FSX, I do not see the wave animations at all. I know the texture is installed. I see the animation in DX9 (Using the Sparkling Rex Wave Animation). I have tried rebuilding the ShaderCache...but no luck. Any ideas or thoughts on this? Thanks, Skywolf

What is the official DX10 fixer status of FlyTampa KTPA. I've seen at least 3 posts here stating that KTPA works like a boss with the fixer, but so far my results work less than most of my coworkers. The chief issue seems to be the runway lighting (PAPI, REIL, etc.) which appear as colored blocks. Do I need to run with a particular settings in the fixer to make this work? I saw from the FT forums that a beta patch is out for Dubai, but haven't heard anything about Tampa which makes me wonder if there is really an issue or not.

I was recommended this piece of software on as it would 1.improve frame rates and make the simulation smoother 2.reduce the chance of OOM problems with advanced aircraft such as the PMDG 777 3.make the scenery sharper At present I do not use DX10 preview and it is not clear whether if you use this software that you need to have set FSX to DX10 preview first. Any clarification on these issues would be appreciated Michael

Hello, does somebody know, why you can't take screenshots in fullscreen mode? Tested with fsscreen and screenshooter and with both programmes I only got black screens. In windowed mode everything is ok....strange. Regards Chris
