On a fair few FSX native aircraft, I'm getting self-shadow problems that no combination of Fixer shadow settings seems to cure. I started a thread over at SOH (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?86833-Self-shadow-oddities&p=879027&viewfull=1#post879027), but thought I'd flag it here. PJ suggested (in that thread) that I change the textures over to DXT-1, which gets around the problem but won't address the fact that many of my native payware and freeware aircraft that use dds/DXT-5 textures by default and would therefore (all) need editing. Hello Recently was reading an article, courtesy www.rastek.com about bufferpools suggested by Steve. A part of the summary goes as under : The general rules are:- 1). If the GPU is very fast, and with a good-sized memory, say 2 - 4 gig - it can eat all of the incoming data and wait for more, so we allow the GPU to give everything its own buffer by UsePools=0. To control any spiking, lowering of the IQ sliders in FSX is the best course of action. 2). If the GPU is kinda "medium-range" - a 660 or 670 - fed by a 4.6 - 4.7-gig CPU - then we should use UsePools=1, making all buffers shared. Hey Guys, I have the Eaglesoft Beechjet 400 A and I get this... Now, I didn't notice that the aircraft is NOT DX10 Certified when I purchased it. No big deal. I can go back to DX9 for this if need be. BEFORE I do that, I would like to see if anyone has any "Fixer" ideas on how to mitigate this problem. Background... 1. Only happens at NIGHT, DUSK, and DAWN. 2. At Dusk it is a slow fade TO this condition, and at Dawn it is a slow fade FROM this condition. 3. Hi All, I have searched around for this, but I could not figure out if there was a solution possible for this. Some of my payware airports have dark ground textures during the night. This is especially bothersome during winter, when contrast with the white surroundings is quite big. Two airports I have found that have this behaviour: - FlyTampa Vienna 2.5 - FSDG Sharm el Sheikh (Aerosoft) I have the latest update of the fixer installed, and the compatibility slider set to full left (scenery). Using DX10 SF I have nearly no more (or not visible) blue lights at the taxiway boundaries (left and right) at FlyTampa's Vienna = LOWW, I tried it also setting the Legacy Shader completely to the left, but with no change. In DX9 the lights are to be seen. Is there anyway how to "improve" those lights in DX10 - because on other airports like LOWI they look great in DX10. Regards, Hanse

Just really want to make sure 100% that I am installing the new version in the right place. Currently running windows 7 64 bit, earlier version I install it in C program files x86 with its own sub directory. I know it sounds kind of stupid, just want to make sure, otherwise, the product is working fine for me,, thank you Steve.

Hi Since running Fixer (I use 4 screens) when I run Apollo airmap or FSMap in fullscreen mode (I set the bottom screen for my moving map gauge) If I try to resize the map gauge the bottom screen goes black and the black and white wheel starts to spin, I cannot get this to shut down to get to my map gauge The Aircrafy still carries on flying but alas with no charts I do not have this prob with 9 any help would be appreciated Regards Mike

Hallo ..... I always have problems with the lights using Aerosoft-scenerys. So I will test other settings step by step to fix them. for example: - outside cockpit all lights looks good...inside VC-cockpit no light - flickering runway and papilights......and so on ....so let´s start! 1) This 2 files found in the DX10SceneryFixer-bgl-folder: XXXXLightFieldTest. My runway lights at all the Grenadine airports are flashing, even with the airport lightfield installed. Lightfield files set to higher priority in scenery library. I don't have any issues with other airports. Lightfeld fixes all older airports. FlyTampa claims that Grenadines is DX10 compatible. Anyone found a fix for this? Jose

I just joined the avsim community and I really don't have the time to really find out which forum this belongs in. Basically when i have direct x 10 preview enabled with max settings I get perfect fps always above 60. Only problem with this is mod planes skins and textures don't load as they're not compatible I hear. when I disable direct x 10 I get horrible fps in 15-20s. I turn it down to low with billinear and it's still mediocre at 30 fps. Specs: 4gb corsair vengenance ram intel i3 3220 ivy bridge 2 core gtx 650 ti 1gb ram I hear having a dual core cpu is much better than a i7 as it is more configured for fsx. I'm assuming my gpu is newer …

Hi there! Because of the many positive reviews and the beautiful pics and videos featuring DX10, I decided to buy Steve´s DX10 fixer today. I am on my first test flight right now, everything is working fine so far (including the beautiful VC shadows), but somehow, my water looks really strange and there seems to be no animation of waves at all. I bought the DX10 SF several weeks ago and since then I tried to get my FSX running without "artifacts" and " spikes" because I liked the program and it results. I read and followed all the availlable advices / documents. But it took me more than 50 flights and a lot of time to find the right settings for my system with a HD7900. Pauls guide "DX10 Notes" is an excellent document but for me as a normal user to much technical and leaving too many options e. g. for my problem / hardware it is not specific enough. . I tried to summarize my experience and the results in the following document. This may help any new user of DX10 SF with a HD7900 graphic card to start with. …

After installing V 2.0 I recognized that the "DX10 AA Setting" do not work properly anymore e.g. after setting the value to 4x and then exiting the controller and opening it again the value is changed e.g. displaying instead of 4x = 8x. Because I thought that I made an installation mistake I deinstalled the version (after uninstalling the libraries first and then using MS Windows program functionality). Also I deleted the two lines "MultiSamplesPerPixel" and "MultiSampleQuality" in the fsx.cfg. The I reinstalled V 2.0 again. Hello, Bought this tool some days ago and downloaded also sweetfx 1.5 with configurator. SweetFX seems works fine, but FSX is not working in fullscreen anymore. How to fix it? Also maybe someone can suggest how to make perfect(as better as possible) anti-aliasing or maybe can share inspector profile.

Hi all, I'm using DX10 scenery fixer only a couple of days now, but I couldn't complete a single flight so far. FSX crashes with the nvwgf2um.dll all the time. I'm using the PMDG 737 and 777. Are there any other guys with the same problem, or anybody that have a solution. I tried with the following Nvidia drivers: 334.89 and now I have the 335.23. I have 2 GTX 660 Ti and using 3D Vision 2. Once I switch DX10 off, everything is fine. Thanks Sven

For your attention: on page 70 there is an explanation how to detect probably missing textures inside a scenery. "........The setting to turn this feature on is to insert the line "ShowMissingTextureAlert=1" in the [TERRAIN] section of fsx.cfg ......." Acc. to common understanding the location should be [sCENERY]. Please check. Wulf

H all, as I tried the DX10 at FSX, the first, I have noticed is, that my AI-aircrafts lost their strobe- and wing- lights. Some AI-aircrafts also don't have textures and look grey at DX10. I found these missing textures especially at the CDAI L1011-500, FSP DC-10 and MD11, Before I decide to buy the DX10- fixer, I would like to know, if this tool is able to fix that at those AI-aircrafts. So may I ask, does anyone use these mentioned aircrafts too for AI-traffic with the DX10- fixer, and how ist the experience ? Thanks Dietmar

Hi This is not a major problem still I am a bit curious about this matter - when I was running DX9 I could see the lights of my PMDG 737 NGX during day/dusk/dawn/night when looking from VC (they were on the ground). I'm using lights modified by REX. Now with DX10 + fixer I can only see them at night and dusk/dawn but they are very, very dimmed during dusk/dawn. There is also no lights on runway visible during day. Is it a common issue or something is going wrong in my software? Another thing is snow texture with landing lights on - it is full of colourful squares. Is it also normal?

Hi Steve, I'm having a problem with the latest release of the DX10 Scenery Fixer (2.0 build 42). Since upgrading, I'm noticing that my interior VC shadows are notably absent on stock and commercial aircraft (including ones with MDL's previously modified by the toolkit to have them). The exterior shading and shadow casting looks phenomenal, but the only kind of lighting dynamic I see on the interior are changes to ambient/diffuse lighting and environment mapping/reflections. Gone are the geometries associated with the shadows cast by the VC cockpit itself (i.e. the window frame no longer casts a distinctive shadow). I've twiddled a few options but to no avail. Hopi…

Just did a quick test with the new version and gone are the problem with 3D grass at Aerosoft LGIR and also the strange reflection issue at Aerosoft LGTS at dusk unless having the Legacy slider one notch to the left. So your already superb program just got even better :Applause: One question, it's still not possible to have v/c shadows in the NGX is it..? Did read the doc but not sure if I really understood all the different shadows options to be honest.
