Hi, Lets say, I would like to test the "Steve" profile - he is the author and seems to have a good taste ;-). I go to the menu and pick this profile to load. The question is, are now all the Steve's options applied automatically or do I have to choose any of the APPLY buttons to press? I apologize if I missed some paragraph in the Manual. Regards, Heron

This isn't an issue I am having, i just want to make it clear how thrilled I am that I can actually see airport lights at night again! There isn't as much flickering on and off of lights if not any at a lot of airports I have. Thank you Steve for your continued hard work at making DX10 useable!

Hi all, I know this topic sounds a lot re-discussed but I feel that because new hardware comes up, these settings need to be updated every 5-6 months. I am running : Simulator: FSX DX10, using Steve DX10 fixer and using the 'How-to.doc' Processor: i5 3570k overclocked at 4.5Ghz (watercooled on a H100i) RAM: 8GB of 1600Mhz Ram GPU: Gigabyte GTX970G1 I should also note that I run Ezdok camera with TrackIR Till time of purchase of the GPU (a month ago) I haven't stopped searching for 'my' best settings in order to have the smoothest gameplay. I am particularly interested in the so called 'butter' smooth flying in order to get the 'feeling' of flying and …

Is there any fix for the Aerosoft Aes docking signals with dx10? There is no texture showing distance and aircraft type and it happens only at night.

  5. Started by Mithras,

I've only noticed this in the A2A 172 and Cherokee and Carenado 172 so far, but if may also affect other planes. I'm running a triple screen set up with DX10 and when flying with a 2D view I use my hat switch to look left and right, but the screen image is titally black for a good 3 seconds before it loads. I never saw this before DX10. Anyone else get super slow texture loads like this? Is it an artefact of DX10 or of the recommended changes to the fsx.cfg or to the changes recommended in nvidia inspector??! Or something else?

  6. Fixer V2.4 (haven't got around to installing 2.5 yet...) I just noticed this today and can't seem to get it working again. In direct sunlight, I get shadows cast in the cockpit in my aircraft (those set up for VC shadows). But when I close the canopy, the entire cockpit is in a shadow. Happening to every small military jet that I've tried this on (four so far) that all normally work fine - so I assume they are all hosed. Last thing I did was set the ForceVCShadowMap=1 in my aircraft.cfg as per Steve's blog posting a few weeks back. I removed that today in an attempt to fix this issue, along with trying a number of other settings to see if I could get back to where…

Hi, up to version 2.3 I had no problems with VC shadows in the Aerosoft Airbusses. Updating to version 2.4 and now to 2.5 there are still problems: Since version 2.4 I had to change in the DEBUG section to "Shadows Version 4" to get VC shadows in the Aerosoft A318 to A321. When do think this will be fixed? Since version 2.4 and using "Shadows Version 4" I think the shadows are not so clear like in the previous versions. The border between shadow and sun is much more blurry. Regards, Rolf

Hello Guys, I have installed ORBX airports KJAC and PAKT and start FSX in DX10 mode after installation of DX10 Scenery Fixer. I also use also nVIDIA Inspector acc. the DX10 how-to guide. When I start a flight in the night a have around the floodlights of the Airport and around the streetlights yellow squares. When I use only "DX10 Compatible Reflections" everything is fine - like in DX9 mode. So, who can help me to solve the Problem? Best regards Oliver

Hi, I've noticed that with HD shadows enabled, the maximum distance at which the shadows are cast is reduced. It is especially visible with low-wing aircraft, where the shadows get cut off somewhere near half wing length (I understand this feature was originally intended for tubeliners/bizjets where you don't really see any surfaces outside the flight deck). Is there any way to make the distance adjustable without killing performance? Thanks! Tym

  14. I am running FSX with DX10 fixer v. 2.4 with Nvidia driver 344.48 on a GTX 550 Ti, Windows 8. When the visibility is in the foggy range I get dark apron textures and dark clouds that shine through the fog (obviously the don't become faded out by the fog, thus the stick out more with increasing distance). I tried nearly all combinations of options in the Fixer, but only disabling the general shader restores the normal behaviour (but introduces other errors, of course). It may be a driver problem, as I did not have this issue a year ago (when I run the 331.82 driver, but also an older DX10 fixer). dark apron and clouds visible through fog: General shader disabl…

Hello everybody, first of all: Thanks a lot, Steve, for your ongoing work with the fixer! I´ve got a small question, though: I already went through the manual of the actual version (2.5) and I didn´t find an answer. With shadows enabled (new fsx.cfg line in the display section) and with "hd shadows", "ezdok compatibility" and "force vc walls" ticked I notice a strange issue: When moving my head using trackir the vc shadows move within the cockpit even if the aircraft itself is not moving. This is not really realistic, as shadows are drawn by the light source that shines on an object and not by moving your head inside the cockpit in a non-moving environment. Is there a …

Morning all. I understand this is a process i need to work through to eventually having everything set up correctly, and the investment in this hobby is simply too great to not spend a lot of time getting everything just right! However, I am experiencing a big difference in frame rates from Directx9 to Directx10. I was getting an easy 25-30 frame rate reading at FACT (using payware scenery) with the PMDG 737 and traffic set at 30% from UT2. After changing to Directx10 using the fixer, frame rates have dropped to 14-19 at the same airport with no traffic ( i am not sure why UT2 is not injecting traffic into the airport, but i will have to take it up with them as i su…

After I installed DX10 fixer 2.5 my FSX besides the great visual improvement I also noticed a amazing performance, looking at my fsx.cfg file I noticed that some lines were added to it which was not there before. Does anyone has any idea why specially the line highlighted here in blue? again just curious. Hi Steve, First I want to thank you for a great job done on the DX10fixer 2.5, it truly changed my FSX to the better. this is one of the best investment in FSX I ever done and I will do my best to let everyone know about it. Now my question is... Is there a way to minimize the step ladder effect at the edge of the VC shadows ? thanks again Rick

Having installed v2.5 the textures of buildings and AES services all become transparent at night. Even tried a clean install with the same result. By setting the legacy slider full right I can get the textures to appear but never had to do this previously. I tried duplicating the v2.4 settings disabling new features in debug but could not get over the issue. Having re-installed 2.4 all is once again fine.

  23. Is there any possibility for your excellent fixer program to be able to tune the sun blinding effect which the latest nvidia drivers seem to have enabled? Specifically, it would be great to adjust the whiteness factor, and to also repair the effect such that it doesn't blast through bulkheads, walls, struts, blinds and such. Thanks for your attention; you work is most appreciated and has taken FSX to new heights: the official unofficial FSX SP3.

  24. Now that I am permanently switched to DX10 with great results, I am impressed with white cups responding to wind strength. How about wave size and it's direction could be dynamically controlled by weather too. I understand these variables can be changed statically in the WaterConstants.Xml. That would be really amazing.(?) mike

  25. Big thanks for keeping the software updated and improving/adding features. One small issue with the latest 2.5 installation (for me) is the loss of the text background colour as can be seen here. Now the text remains readable but the line in the background is gone. Before 2.5, there was a green layer behind the text. fsx.cfg settings haven't changed but here they are, just in case: ActiveWindowTitleTextColor=255,255,255 ActiveWindowTitleBackGroundColor=0,28,140,64 NonActiveWindowTitleTextColor=255,255,255 NonActiveWindowTitleBackGroundColor=24,33,87,64 InfoUpperRightTextColor=255,0,0 InfoUpperRightBackGroundColor=255,0,0,128 InfoLowerLeftTextColor=255,255,2…
