The Official DX10 Scenery Fixer Support Forum

DX10 Scenery Fixer Forum for official support for this product.

  1. I intend to run a dual installation (at least for now) of FSX and FSX Steam on my gaming machine. I've bought the Steam version at the last sale but I'm still doing my homework before installing. Pete Dowson has suggested that a fairly painless means of running a parallel installation without duplicating a lot of add-on scenery and aircraft files is to go into FSX and edit scenery.cfg, fsx.cfg, dll.xml and exe.xml to use full paths to all files referenced in them, then copy and paste these into the equivalent FSX:SE folders. (I'll also copy and paste terrain.cfg and cameras.cfg since I've done some customizations to both of these files). He also suggests doing a copy …

I uninstalled the Fixer Libraries through the DX10 SceneryFixer app, installed a stock ShadersHLSL folder in FSX, and attempted to reinstall the fixer libraries through the DX10 SceneryFixer app. When I try and reinstall the libraries, I get this error: Error Copying DLL. Error was 32 I have uninstalled and reinstalled Steve's DX10 SceneryFixer but I still get this error. I'm stuck... I can't reinstall the fixer libraries. What can I do? Thanks in advance, Scott

Hi, Today I updated my fixer to 2.8, but I erased all my previous fixers before that. Will this be ok? I didn't check that the update procedure had been changed since the last time I updated. I am only asking because I seemed to have lost my shadow effects in the pmdg 737 aircraft. Thank You Anthony

The version available for sale from my blog is 2.7. This is identical to 2.6 except that it can now better handle the scenario where FSX Steam Edition (SE) and FSX are installed on the same computer at the same time. With 2.7 the libraries can be switched from one system to another and the correct FSX configuration fileis used. If you have a system with just FSX installed or just Steam Edition installed there is no advantage to 2.7 over 2.6 – they both work equally well. You should receive an update email from the Flight Sim Store shortly

Thanks for the Fixer Steve. I was using Dx10 even before the Fixer and with it the vast majority of issues have been fixed. I have one Dx10 native aircraft, a freeware Grumman Duck (from the SimOuthouse) where the canopy glass is invisible in Dx10. No amount of fiddling with the glass texture alphas or images works. Have you any ideas from the Fixer tools that might help? Kind regards, Roger.

  7. Hi Steve Just wondering if you could "work your magic" on the new lighting system that Ultimate Terrain X Europe v2 has introduced. In short, it appears to be the same, or at least a very similar, issue to the FTX lights problem that first appeared - in both day and night, there are two black triangles surrounding the light...pic attached: http://fsfiles.org/flightsimshotsv2/images/2015/04/04/2015-4-4_0-51-48-51.jpg http://fsfiles.org/flightsimshotsv2/images/2015/04/04/2015-4-4_0-52-47-109.jpg Many Thanks Steve

  9. After flying with DX10 and then exiting to FSX Menu Screen - I find the screen has been corrupted ie the top left corner has an overlay in the top left corner and most of the bottom third of the menu screen is missing (except the fly now button). If I click on any of the buttons there is no response. If I try to exit via the red cross in the top right, there is no response. I have to go to Task Manager to exit FSX. This problem only occurs when using DX10. I've got an AMD Graphics card - Radeon 9 series 280x, 3gb. Has anyone got any idea how to solve this problem?

Hi Steve, may be there is a log file existing, where all DX10 inputs/entries/settings into the controller are listed in a condensated form, unfortunately I haven´t found it in the DX10 fixer location in C/. If it does not yet exist this might be usefull for communication from customer to the developer in case of prob description and quicker solving. Wulf

Hi guys, After installing DX10 fixer, the bar text line across the top of the screen is now green and no text appears in it. This is ok apart from the messages which GSX generates re doors open etc can not be seen. GSX asked me to check with Steve. I wonder has this got something to do with changing the resolution when installing DX10. Thanks in advance. S

  13. Hi, I am trying to quit DX10 and try Dx9 again. I have uninstalled libraries, DX10 is switched to DX9 in both FSX and Control Panel of Scenry Fixer. When I try to load FSX I have black screen (the one where I choose plane) and even if I try to load it, it simply crashes. Can someone help please? When I keep it on to DX10 - everything works... 14. Started by Flyfox,

Steve's DX10 Fixer has converted my FSX installation into a refreshed, powerful and definitely more pleasant simulation platform, in spite of my meanwhile outdated hardware. And I particularly enjoy cockpit shadows, which I keep enabled with all not too FPS-demanding aircraft. However, this has a negative effect on the tower view. Tower view shows strange shadows all over the aircraft. Somehow parts of the aircraft structure seem to be transparent and thus lead to shadows where there shouldn't be any shadows. Did anybody observe the same effect? I know this is a minor thing and the tower view has certainly no priority for most simmers. Still, it would be nice to have …

  17. Hi to all, I have Orbx FTX with Orbx Vector (1.20) and Europe LC (1.15) installed. After installing Orbx FTX I got black squares all over the scenery and learned from various forums that installing the DX10 fixer (I have version 2.7) would resolve the issue. Unfortunately this does not work for me. After installing DX10 fixer I still have black squares everywhere. Also tried to edit the General10fx shader manually trying to apply several freeware fixes for the Global Style Lighting Problem from AVSIM but unfortunately also to no avail. I would like to mention, that I do not have the original General10fx shader installed and do not possess it anymore. I get the "your g…

  18. Hi to all, I've just installed Orbx FTX and have run the DX10 fixer to fix the Orbx lights. Although I use the original Shaders folder from the FSX Gold Edition CD most options are greyed out after firing up DX10 fixer such as shadows and bloom and thus I couldn't use it to fix the Orbx lights issue. I then downloaded Steve's older Shaders Patches (Version 3.7) and run those. Surprisingly this worked without any problems and can now use Orbx scenery in DX10 mode. However, I see some very strange effects. The scenery is flickering (forests, sharp tower edges, waves) and in a top down view (I use the PMDG 747-800i with ezdok) I sometimes get the taxiway markings displa…

UPDATE!! They work now as of SP1D - ignore this POST and go to the end of the thread. There are no magic settings that will make them work. There is a large box around the cockpit in the model which shades the cockpit. In DX10SF 2.5 there is an accidental flaw that if you move to extreme positions in the cockpit with HD shadows enabled the zooming process that HD shadows uses may clip small portions of the box and temporarily let sunlight through the hole that is created. This is not a solution as the "hole" in the box moves with your viewpoint. You may occasional see a few fleeting shadows when your viewpoint is in an extreme position combined with…

  22. Hi Steve, Wanted to ask you if you think a couple of weird things I experienced could be related to DX10SF and that I recently started using shadows with the latest version of the NGX. First on a flight I did yesterday I noticed how another online aircraft (IVAO MTL model) was invisible, only the lights were visible. Then on a flight today I noticed how the GSX baggage loaders on my arrival were all black. The other GSX objects such as the moving staircases look normal though. Have never seen this before I started using shadows with the latest version of the NGX so that's why I was thinking it might be related? Then as mentioned previously I've unticked the adaptive HD…

Here's a link to a video showing what I'm talking about and the aircraft is the NGX as mentioned in the subject. http://youtu.be/HRpXQkgFQLc This is what my shadow options look like
