DX10 Scenery Fixer Forum for official support for this product.

  1. Hi Folks...looking for help. I just bought this program tonight...and installed the lights to all the stock, default FSX aircraft. Here are my issues, since install. I installed, and then used Steve's v2.7 to convert the SHOCKWAVE lights. I then ran FSX:MS Steve's Fixer v2.7 DX10 mode, and saw the following on two default aircraft, the baron, and the mooney: 1. No difference from stock lighting, no atmospheric halo as advertised. 2. Panel/instrument lights in both cabins no longer turn on/light up (work!) I then tried to exlude them...and ran FSX:MS again. No difference from the above. Does Shockwave work with Steve's Fixer in DX10 mode? Did…

When a video driver update is carried out, do we have to flush the shader cache ? If so, after the shaders are rebuilt, do we have to do any further action with the Fixer, i.e. do we have to reapply all the options we have selected in the Fixer ? Thanks Regards

Hi to all, I've recently noticed that I do no longer see the raindrops splashing onto the window pane of the PMDG 747-800i when it's raining, nor do I hear any rain sound anymore. The issue turned up for the first time after have installed the DX10 Fixer so I wonder whether this might be the problem. For textures and sound effects I use REX4TextureDirect + Soft Clouds and it seems that these textures are properly installed. Anybody having an idea what I could try to fix the issue? Which files are responsible for the rain splashing on window pane effect or the rainy sound? Any help is appreciated. Best regards bmaik

Hi All, Very impressed with the fixer! Love the cockpit shadows, they add so much to the experience! I've found a slight problem I'm having on initial load and when changing settings and reloading the sim. For a good few seconds after the sim loads, everything is 'geometric' for want of a better word - the textures haven't fully loaded and the clouds and sky are flat blue/grey squares and often parts of the ground are missing. It eventually clears and loads normally but it lasts quite a few seconds after loading and when changing any settings whilst on the fly. I've actually deleted my cfg and let it build a fresh one but it didn't make any difference. Doesn't happe…

  5. I have been a super happy customer of FSX for sometime now with all the juicy addons like REX, ORBX, NGX, etc. Just when i thought i was perfectly content with all the eye candy in FSX, i stumbled upon a P3D video which showed cockpit VC shadows.. and my jaw dropped! Since then, i've been exploring 4 options: FSX vs X-plane vs P3D vs FSX-DX10. 1. X-plane still seems like a grad school project to me.. i know its 64-bit, DX11, etc, and therefore has huge potential, but right now it is miles away from FSX + addons. The mouse control in the VC itself is a deal breaker for me - i can't buy a flightsim software that was designed keeping Macbook's in mind! 2. P3D - th…

  6. (I'm off-grid, and hence the leaning towards low power components) I recently installed DX10 fixer on a Dell Inspiron 7720, which has an i7 Intel processor with Intel 4000 built-in graphics, plus a reasonably capable nVidia graphics processor (I think it's a 650). so the computer runs at low power except when told to use nVidia graphics in the nVidia control utility. All programs work correctly including FSX, DCS etc. But... DX10 fixer is not recognizing the nVidia graphics system even though DX10 fixer and FSX have been told to use it. It stubbornly forces FSX to use the Intel graphics by writing Intel 4000 at low resolution into fsx.cfg. DX10 fixer appears t…

Hello, I am new here and quite new to FSX in DX10. I tried it in the past, without much success, but I read only good about DX10 Fixer so thinking of trying it. I've been reading this forum a lot, and came across a problem with the sun - where the sun itself has an offset from the glow/corona. Has this issue been fixed, and how does the Fixer work in companionship with REX4-TD? I have it and it has lots of textures I like for sun and the glow, but was wondering if it's compatible with the Fixer? I also have to ask at their forum about the compatibility, but thought to check here first. There is no demo-version, right? Thank you. Simon

  8. After having been working with and finding great satisfaction with Steve's DX Fixer since his first release, I have opted to invest further into my FSX experience with the purchase of UTX Canada, GEX and REX 4 - Texture Direct. I'm excited about flying with these new enhancements! I'm wondering if anyone flying with a similar addon library has any hints or tweaks that can be optimized with Steve's DX10 fixer? Are there any fsx.cfg or NI parameters that can be added, or changed in recognition to this new software? Any settings from within the software to optimize DX10 worth implementing? I'm also using the new Active Sky Next along with the FreeMesh X.

  9. When I was using Steve's DX10 fixer v2.7, I had no problem with my RealAir Duke Turbo v2. After updating to v2.7 of the fixer, it wont allow my NAV/COM and Transponder to turn on, and if I turn on the cabin lights, all my gauges go blank. Very strange, and I can't figure out why it's happening, when it didn't do it before updating my fixer.

  10. Hi to all, I use ASNext weather engine and I remember that it worked perfectly when I installed it about a year ago. Recently I've installed a lot of Orbx Scenery and installed REX4 with Soft Clouds and the DX10fixer andwhich initially did not work because my shaders folder was not original anymore. So, I replaced the shaders folder by the original FSX folder a collegue of mine sent me and the DXfixer worked without any problems. No more greyed out options. However, as a negative side-effect my clouds look ugly and when ASNext reports overcast skies I can't get more than a light broken coverage (eg 5/8 or so).t. On the other hand when ASNext reports BKN I get at most…

When I turn on UTx v2.0 Night Lights the Street Lights all flicker in unison. The UTx forum says it's a DX10 problem and to turn DX10 off. I do like the feature and I could live with the problem but I would sooner turn the lighting feature off than turn DX10 off. Are they correct? If so is this their problem or something in the Fixer that could be done? Thanks Rick S.

Hi steve, I have been using FSX with DX10 long time now, but up to date I could not fix one issue! I am flying online (IVAO) with full mode screen. Every time I run the software IVAP the whole screen will turn into black, so the only solution am doing now is to connect online while the screen black and then hide IVAP which will make it ok again. this solution will not allow me to use text communication with the ATC. Could you please advise if you have any idea about that? thanks

Would apprecaite it if someone could clarify the situation when using the DX10 Fixer with Extended Displays. I have a Win7/64 system with a Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 GPU which has multiple outputs. I use the extended (second) display for charts, etc. Does the Fixer not work at all with extended displays, or is it just less effective with extended displays, or does it only work if FSX is running on the display identifierd as the Main display, or ...? Thanks, Al

  16. Hello, recently I purchased Steve's masterpiece. Greats product and almost work fine for me, except when in any airport when I'm on ground at night, normally I not see any urban or airport lights, but if I round the visual for few degrees instead I see all. The follow 2 pictures show this issue. I was in NZQN ORBX airport using also ORBX light for urban lights and all it's upgraded. I have tried also adding a lightfield, but it didn't have any result. I use also FSX Steam edition. Thanks for all Rudy (no lights) https://www.dropbox.com/s/0l5l4m767h1ix6x/2.PNG?dl=0 (with lights) https://www.dropbox.com/s/015qn4o9kmiz6jb/1.PNG?dl=0

I've spend a few hours testing various settings with DX10 Scenery Fixer and nVidia Inspector. Some of what I post here I have already posted elsewhere but I thought it might be a good idea to gather it all into one topic. Take note that I have tested all this with a nVidia GTX580 (using a 1080i monitor) so all of this only applies to nVidia users. nVidia Inspector's 'Antialising - Mode' and 'Antialiasing - Setting' options have no effect at all in FSX when you use DX10. The same goes for the nVidia Control Panel option (as stated in the Fixer's manual). During my testing I found out that on my PC a lot of the other Inspector settings seem to do nothing at all either. …

  19. Does DX10 Fixer currently offer a solution for the violent flickering of ground scenery shadows that are cast onto other building surfaces? Everything I've seen so far in the forums has been with respect to aircraft/VC shadows. I am curious to know if the ground scenery shadows benefit from some tweak or adjustment in either the driver (nvidia) or DX10 Fixer? Thanks!

Hi. I am wondering if this is something to do with DX10 fixer. I have 3 monitors set and when I start FSX everything blinks, like I have occasional lightning around me. I am trying to narrow down what cause this issue. I thought it could be ASN but I was told in their forum this was nothing to do with ASN. Even though views blink without ASN. Is it something to do with Anti Aliasing setting within DX fixer? Thx

  21. Hi Steve or anyone else that can help. I did the fix for the landing lights being to high on the planes by reverting back to the original halo.bmp file. Now the lights are in correct position, but they have a huge halo around them until they get very close and then they look as they should. Is there any setting in Fixer or do we just have to live with this thanks.

Hello! Couple unclear question before I try Fixer again: 1. Quate from Readme: "There are only two bitmaps of significance to DX10SceneryFixer <FSX DIR>\bkg.bmp <FSX DIR>\Texture\envmap.bmp. Currently you must restore the originals before the installation can proceed. If you do not do this then the installation will abort with a message explaining the issue." Ok - I made backup those files - should I to delete them before I start Fixer installation? 2. Could it be any harm if I have a lot addon (ORBX etc.) installed before I install Fixer? I use FSX Gold Edition (boxed). Rolf

Hi, I would like to know about a check box named "Test Feature" which is in the DX10 Fixer Debug window, mine is checked but reading the manual it is unchecked, so should it be unchecked or checked as the manual say's to leave this section alone unless instructed. Cheers Rod.

I've been using The Fixer from the very beginning and I just upgraded to 2.8 Installation went fine, installed libraries, etc. Now when I attempt to run The Fixer I get a message that says "Please close FSX before running DX10 Scenery Fixer." The only problem is, is that FSX isn't running and I haven't run it since my last reboot. I'd try uninstalling and reinstalling, but I can't uninstall the libraries in order to do it. Help!
