Hello! I've watched a lot of tutorials to start flying ultra-complex Boeings (PMDG 777-200 and PMDG 737-800NG), but always during takeoff, they were saying either: increase thrust to ~40%, press TO/GA and release parking brake (737) or increase thrust to ~55%, wait for it to stabilize and press TO/GA [without setting parking brake on runway] (777). And I also saw proffesional pilots do it in real life. But why? How does it help? Is it necessary? Also, below FL100, pilots turn on Engine Start Switches To 'Continous'. It gives more chances, to keep the engine running, during the bird strike. But if it's so good, why do pilots turn it off above FL100? And one mo…

Hi guys, For those who were getting the trim only activating when the joystick was dead centre, what are the results with sp1b? I am still getting exactly the same issue. Situation: I put on the trim ref speed bug Fly constant speed and Altitude (Autothrottle on holding 240 for example). Trim all the way down to say 180, (expecting a nose up attitude) and the aircraft pitches up.. As soon as I apply any elevator, the effect dissappears. Same going up and down Alex == Edit, I am feeling like the trim hasn't been modified at all, am I on the correct version here? p.s I did not get any promt running the Operations centre (t…

Since updating to P3D 3.3.5, 777 CTD on final approach and landing whenever A/T or A/P are disabled and inputs are made on the joystick or throttle. 737NGX works correctly and 777 autoland works as well. Manual inputs from takeoff up to final approach are not a problem. All software and drivers are the latest available. System: i7-5930K 4.1GHz, 32 G memory, 2x GTX 980 in single GPU mode on two monitors WIn10 14905 (although this problem does not seem to be Win10 version specific - has occurred on all Win10 versions from release of P3D). Evening everyone, I didn't want to post this in PMDG forum because it wasn't a "support" question, but here's my dilemma: I load my FP and everything, and go to take off, so I add about 70%, and then hit the toga button. Everything is fine, until about 80 knots, when EVERY TIME I take off, the throttles just die, and go back down to idle, and I have to manually push the throttles forward again. I also have where, I will be descending via VNAV and LNAV, and the throttles will just go full TOGA, and make me overspeed, and I have to manually bring them back down. Any help? It's very annoying

I felt like sharing this with everyone for some reason: To preface, I've been flying the PMDG 777 ever since it was first released and I'm a stickler for realism so service based failures are always on. Mimicking UAL 952, non stop service from KORD-EDDM (prior to that i had just finished UAL 896 VHHH-KORD). Everything has gone routine so far; no issues throughout the entire flight. Upon descent into Munich, I just happened to pan down to lower EICAS display to notice my Oil Temp in my NO. 2 engine was well into the red, reaching temps of 200 degrees! I immediately pulled up the electronic checklist where it brought me to the appropriate "non-normal procedures" for…

Hi all, When I disconnect the autopilot I love the sound of the wailer, one of the things I love about flying! I noticed on several occasions ( not all ) that I would go to disconnect the autopilot via my x52 joystick or clicking the button on the control column in the PMDG 777 and just get a little click and autopilot disconnect as should be on the EICAS display. No wailer. I did look through the settings in the CDU and wailer is selected. Even went into the PMDG operation center and under the 777 settings wailer was set for all installed liveries... This might be a silly question with an obvious answer but what can I do, or what havent I done? Gavin B

So this just happened to me. I was flying with a friend from CYWG to MMGL, as part of my World Tour event. We were flying together and he got a little close so the TCAS went off. So i decided to turn it off. After this, I find the plane slowly banking to the left. I look at my displays, and they are frozen, all of them. I take manual control and when I try to hand fly the plane, I find it very interesting to handle. The plane seemed to have a response rate of only taking a control input from the joystick every second. Its was like flying a plane at 1 FPS. It was very hard to fly. Hallo, I have tried to fly several STAR's into EDDF runway 25R or 25L and could not get any DME display (only dashed lines). For runway 25R frequency 109.75 was autoselected and that lined up to the right of the runway. I than flew the same approach with frequency 111.35 received DME information, but lined up to the left of the runway. Then I loaded an updated airport scenery (which had the new runway) and flew the same approach again on rwy 25R, but could not capture the localizer or the glide slope (auto select frequency 109.75). Hi sir, I just want to ask a question regarding on my experiences with the ILS for your 777. Im having some problems whenever i go off track of the STAR so that i can take a shorter route but every time i do this, the ILS frequency disappears on my PFD. If i follow the STAR the ILS frequency is still on my PFD and it follows the LOC. One other thing, if i go off track of the STAR and try to line up on the ILS, every time i press the LOC, i can see a HDG on the bottom of LOC. Hello, it puzzles me that reverser operation after touchdown is only possible when the nose gear is on the ground. Is that correct or am I doing something wrong? Also, and this can be totally unrelated, of course, I observed that viewing a landing in FSRecorder, extending the speed brakes takes place only at the same moment when the nose gear touches down, whereas in "reality" (i. e., the sim, not FSRecorder) it takes place correctly just when the main gear touches down. Hi :-) alas after a system malfunction I had to start again, now when selecting the PMDG 777-200LR FSX it asks for the reg key which I provide and then it comes up with => ERROR: flxActCommonRepairLocalTrustedStorage - (50044,71013,1) I think it has to do with a disabled service dll, just can't figure out which one it is ............ Hi, I am learning to use the HOLD feature. Please see the screenshots below: in some cases I get an oval pattern (hold on PAL29) and in other cases (hold on SPUMA) I get a circular pattern. It looks like if the leg time > 1 min, then the shape is oval. But maybe it is more complex. My question is: what are the rules/parameters to get an oval shape for the holding pattern?

Hi I got a problem with my PMDG777 on Prepar3D 3.5 pro+. The sim exits unexpectedly without any error windows or message popping up upon the appearance of the cockpit before 20-second initialization. It can be fixed temporarily by reinstalling 777-200LR. However, the problem reoccurs after 1-2 flights. I have tried a lot attempts, such as disabling FSUIPC, and reinstalling P3D client. It doesn't work at all. By contrast, my PMDG737 works perfectly without any issue. Do you have any hints about it? Your any solution will be highly appreciated. The followings are installed. I've just flown a flight this evening with the 777F, and all was going well until I was getting close to the top of descent and tried to make some changes to the LEGS page. On all attempts, I recieved an "Invalid Entry" or "Invalid Delete" message. So for example, let's say I have these remaining legs :- WELIN TNT POL RAPUM EGNT .....and let's say I line select POL and then attempt to click on to WELIN (in other words to go direct to POL).... I then get "Invalid Entry". If I also tried to just press the DELETE key on the FMC, and line select any of the above legs, I received "Invalid Delete". I'm on SP1b, so up to date. Hi , I was using FSX at 1920x1080, on a gtx 970 and a 24" monitor with a Max resolution of 1920x1080. Then I read about DSR with nvidia cards, and I set it to 1.7x, and set it up for 2560x1440 in windows and also is the display settings of fsx. I.e. 2560x1440x32. However, when I now look at the VC view of the 777-300ER. Don't see any difference, it looks just lime how it was ezrlier, I was expecting to see a wider image, as in with a .6 zoom was hoping to see more of the FO side squeezed into the view. What am I doing wrong ?. Or have I got or understood DSR incorrectly. Thanks in advance.

hello, i have been using the search function but could not find the answer to this. i mean to recall that i am supposed to uninstall the 777 completely and make a fresh install again to update to the latest version. but i am not sure. currently i have both the base package and the -300ER installed. my version is 1.10.6492 for both. the OC is telling me there is a newer version available and gives me the option to update. but as i said, i somehow remember reading here that i should not just update on top of the installed version. if someone could guide me and tell me how to get to the newest version, please? if i need to uninstall please also tell me wh…
