Friends: Just returned to helicopters after a couple of years dabbling in bizjets. I am pleasantly surprised by the flight dynamics of the 2k2 Jet Ranger, and was wondering which freeware birds come closest to it? I especially like the tail rotor authority when the sim is at full realism. Some of the freeware I have tried require a lot of collective to get the tail rotor to respond. Any help is appreciated. K

The Hummingbird Air Charter fleet is exclusively Eurocopter, from our Service hub at Tampa's Peter O'Knight (KTPF) to Southbound destinations including Everglades Nat'l Park, Key West, Cuba, and the Caribbean, penetrating deep into the tropical "Land of the Hummingbird" itself, the island of Tobago as well as points in Northern South America.Make no mistake, this Charter service is like no other, and is designed for the successful and wealthy wishing to escape the restrictions of scheduled air travel and the limited destinations of fixed-wing aircraft. Under the skilled hands of an independent Hummingbird owner-operator, you may fly wherever, whenever you like. Hummingbir…

I visited their website this afternoon. Actually it's a very nice site.... well designed (IMO) and intuitive. However, it's SLOOOOOOWWW. Maybe I'm just spoiled by Avsim's zippy loading of pages. But in between waiting for HoverControl pages to load, I was able to cook and eat my dinner!!!!Is it just me? Does anyone else find their site to be much too slow to be useful? I know I don't have time to wait minutes for each and every page to load and forget about downloading anything. :-eekI'll try again another day........ maybe today was just a bad day. -Lindy :-rotor

Make no mistake: I do not have tunnelvision. The attached photo of the Agusta Power 109 testifies to a beautiful bird if ever there was one. An Italian masterpiece of a Lamborghini helicopter and I do indeed love it.Captain MikeHummingbird charters

I have spent the afternoon searching the net for information on this and found the the following statement, on this forum of all places (should have started here).FS2k2'any building that uses a defualt roof texture can be landed on'When I found this I thought I struck gold. But either it does not work, I dont know what a default roof texture or there are none in the city of Portland OR in FS.So maybe you can help with this and the following;1. default roof textures 'landable'?2. if so, what do they look like?3. are there any default FS2k2 heliports (i.e. with H landing zones)?4. can you recommend an oil rig type of scenery freeware?5. recommend FS helio dedicated sites? …

I love this little Bird! But I have a question about the tail-rotor:I'm used to fly choppers in FS2002 with all sliders maxed out, max sensitivity on the joystick.... Here my question: What would be an appropriate setting for this? With these settings it's impossible to touch my rudder without yawing like crazy. A touch of wind, and off we go... What settings do you use?Ballistero

Hi. After months of puting it off, I have dove into Antti's Dauphin and have got it working. Now to figure out all this autopilot stuff! I use a Saitek X45 and am wondering if I can assign the rotary knobs as the fuel control and rotor control in the dauphin.cfg file. Has anyone tried to assign more that the standard 4 axis's to this bird? Any help, as always, is greatly appreciated.

Has anybody tried Search and Rescue 4 or Vietnam Medevac? They look pretty cool but looks aren't everything. I'd like to hear some firsthand accounts if anybody feels like sharing.

Hi chopper fliers,I'm a complete newb when it comes to flying the helo's. I've visited Hovercontrol (great site), but didn't find anything to help me assign control functions to my Cougar. My rig includes a set of Thrustmaster Elites. I need to learn what axis within the sim to assign to the various helo controls. For my fixed wing configs, I naturally assign pitch and roll to the stick, and throttle to the Cougar throttle. I also assign pitch and rudder trim to their own rotaries on the Cougar throttle.Any help is appreciated... I'm making far too many smoking holes in the ground. :-lol Thanks,

Wow, This one had me reaching for the history books! Along with heli's, WWII warbirds are my thing in FS, so I've received a real gift. Uploaded today by Vladimir Zhuhylskiy is an absolutley remarkable machine that I never even knew existed. The Focke Achgelis Fa223e is not a flight of fancy but a real, German WWII production aircraft. Perhaps its a good thing that they never made many! Vladimir's model isn't quite up to the incredible standard that we've been spoilt by recently, but it looks good and flies really nicely. This is such a unique & bizarre model that Im voting it a definite keeper.Lets hope Vladimir continues to refine & develop this ship over time. …

I'm looking for a realistic full scale helicopter simulator. According to the guys at the Fly-it booth at HAI, their engine is modified because the MS flight model alone is not realistic enough. Out of the sims I tried, the Fly-It did seem the most realistic but I am just looking for a good sim for the home PC. I was also wondering if there is collective and pedal hardware suitable for the PC. I saw a website listed here on making your own. I have no problems doing that but would like to know of any off-the-shelf units.

Hi,Just wondered if anyone has struck this weird problem. FS on my system has been stable for ages, no problems at all. This morning, I downloaded that EC135 from http://www.flightproject.net/ and tried it out.Nice helicopter, sure. As it happens, I already have this file, albeit with a different livery and both versions work just fine. So I flew the new machine for a few minutes, then switched to Antti's EC 130. FS crashed immediately. At the restart, (my default flight is the bell sitting on a helipad in Melbourne) again, select the EC130 - Crash. I tried several different options before selecting the EC130 - default bell & cessna, engines on/off/inside cabin/extern…

Are there any good sounds around for the EC130? Or something that might sound like the real thing? Had a sound system for the EC120, but I can't seem to find it again...

Hey guys (and girls) just got the new EC-130 (thanks Alun!), very nice! If you are expecting the Dauphin 2 you might be dissapointed, but this thing is a good, straightforward heli, just no fancy cockpits, more a get in and go kinda bird. You can get it at Hovercontrol in the d/l section, under top picks!Regards, Michaelhttp://mysite.verizon.net/res052cd/mybannercva1.jpgCalVirAir International VAwww.calvirair.comCougar Mountain Helicopters & Aviationwww.cgrmtnhelos.comhttp://forums.avsim.com/user_files/11904.jpg

Howdie Folks..Looking for a little help here. Its regards to sound files and various helicopters. In the past if I have wanted a particular sound set in a helicopter I could do one of two things: 1. Make an alias to an existing soundset in a helicopter, or 2. If feeling lazy just copy and paste the sound folder from one to another. That seemed to work quite nicely.Things have changed quite a bit in recent months with the advancment in aircraft design and i have noticed that in some instances this is not possible. What I have recently tried to do is use the Hughes 500D soundset that i downloaded from hovercontrol.com in the A365 by Antti. That didnt work. Experiment…

I don't know how many of you here in the Rotor Head area also post at Alaskan Bush Charters but for those of you who don't, I'm having to leave the FS community for a while to go overseas (no, not military). We'll probably be gone for 2 to 3 years so it will be interesting to see what Jordan has come up with when I get back. We're leaving our RW helicopter behind and the girls have started selling some of our stuff on CafePress. Go over and check it out.http://www.cafeshops.com/chopperdynamixJordan: Got a chance to fly the AirCrane and I have to say, two thumbs up on that one, it's as near perfect as anyone could get given the limitations of silicon based flying. You shoul…

Hi folks,I just came across this here http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimul...raft_modern.asp and found, that the robinson, which was formerly thought to be in FS2004 seems to be taken out again!! Does anybody know about this?Ballistero

...why isn't there one? A Freeware flight group type organization for helicopters. I think all rotorheads would benefit a lot from that. Any feedback? :)

Does anyone know if an standard autopilot unit (That is one from a fixed wing a/c)will work in a helicopter?I'm working on a Bell 222 panel but don't have that much spare time, so I don't want to waste it experimenting with a standard unit if any of you already know it won't work....Any help would be greatly appreciated....Cheers//Tonni

Hi there!!I've downloaded the aircrane too, and I must say, it has to be one of the most complete helo for FS nowadays!I enjoy this every day, and it is a truly beautiful helicopter!Anyways, it seems to me like I can't drop all the water in the tanks?Autohovering goes like a charm, but when I would like to drop the load it won't.... It is possible? And the tank is FULL when starting? Or have I just missed something? :)------------Fredrik Wold >:-) (Vikings from north)
