I'm trying to assign the collective twist axis to a joystick axis using FSUIPC on the MILVIZ UH-1 freeware helicopter in P3D v5. I've sought help on the FSUIPC forum but thought I'd try here in case somebody succeeded in doing this and knows what variable it needs to be assigned to or even can confirm it is possible.

I have this model by MP Design Studio and can't get the trim to work. I'm using P3D and the G2 works well (I fly the real thing privately but do all my prep & post in P3D to save money). Has anyone else looked into this? Cheers, Brian

Can any one advise of the company that sells the realistic helicopter seat, collective, cyclic, and radio stack for the flight sim? I saw a company on flightsims sight a while ago, and have not been able to locate it since. The fix wings have a dozen different controls, someone needs to look out for the Roter Heads.:-rotor

Does anyone have a simple startup procedure for the Hovercontrol 412 in FSX? I have tried to follow the checklist and can't get it started. Thanks, regards, bob.

I use CH controls, ie pedals, yoke and more recently flightstickpro. The latter came as a result of my wish to learn to fly helicopters. I have FSX installed on two pc's..one is an older one and I only use it for flying helicopters and it works fine - I should mention that the only CH product on it is flight stickpro. Now, to my new pc....it has FSX with Acceleration X, my full stable of aircraft etc. and has CH Pedals, Flight yoke and Flightstick pro installed. Whilst the helicopters loads ok and acts normally initially, and the sound indicates that power is increasing when I use the throttle control (on the flight stick pro) the helicopter just won't lift off the gr…

Hi helicopter people,After using FSX for 1 year, I finally decided to try the helicoptermissions. I can do pretty much everything except land the sucker ona *specific spot*.Specifically, I cannot kill forward speed to hover over a specific spot. I have a Saitek AV8R joystick - throttle and stick. I've beena passenget in helis enough to know that having foot pedals wouldhelp, but that's not in the budget. My trick now is to rise several hundred feet above the landing area from several miles away, drop the nose, and speed up. I gradually bringthe nose up to slow down as I near the "H". I've become interested in flying helicopters w/FSX. For fixed wing flight, I have long used a CH flight yoke w/rudder pedals.Today, I purchased a Saitek Cyborg X joystick for use with rotor a/c.I plan to use my CH pedals for the anti-torque control.My question: In FSX Settings/Controls, can anyone advise me which control axes are assigned for the collective and the cyclic?Also, if anyone has this specific joystick, which controls are you using (on the joystick) for the throttle, the cyclic and the collective? Hello dear fellow helipilots,I just receintly switched over to FSX buying the Gold edition with Acceleration included and I find that it is impossible to start up the default R22 from a cold and dark state using the proper checklist sequence. Basically what happens is that whenever I try to engage the clutch it stalls the engine. It also happens if I intentionally overrev the engine - no matter what it stalls. I have read some posts elsewhere where it did not seem to be a problem pre SP2.Anyone had any luck starting it up with acceleration or sp2 installed? If possible I would like to avoid pressing Ctrl-E.Thank you for your help,Alex

I'm wondering if it is possible to use the trim controls for helicopters in FS2004. I have a full cyclic/collective setup and it would be great to run the trim function from the hat on my collective. Anyone know if this is possible? I know there are pitch and roll trim contols but I can't seem to get them to work with the helo.ThanksMark

Note: I have FS-X Acceleration installed, which is required to fly the mission I'm about to describe.Today I delved into the Intermediate and Advanced helicopter Missions. Prior to this, I hadn't messed around with the mission stuff at all, but finally I decided to try it, and flew the training missions that use the R-22 pretty successfully. I decided to try the Advanced training mission that involves sling load work with the EH-101 helicopter.Maybe it's just the unseasonably hot wx today here in San Jose, but I don't recall ever actualy sweating before when trying to do something in FS... Hello.I have downloaded the HH65 Dolphin from Hovercontrol, and as much as I like it, I wanted to use a different sound pack.So I deleted the sound files in the sound folder and copied in the ones I want to use.But now I have absolutely no sounds at all. Inside or out.I have the Helli flying etc, but nothing from the sounds.So I switched to the EC135 that I copied the sounds from just to make sure that they are OK, and they were.Any suggestions at all please why this is happening.Thanks.

And keep them shut down.Everytime I load a chopper from a situation of a shut down fixed wing a/c, it starts up with everything running.I just managed to completely shut down the default Robinson 22 - engine, electrics, rotor all shut down - loaded up a freeware addon chopper, and everything starts up already running??Any ideas please?Thanks Barry

I am expanding my review horizons to include helicopters. I think that FSX has done a good job of expanding the role of the rotorcraft in sim. However, like turbo-chargers and lighter-than-air vehicles, FSX kind of seems to just approximate rotor flight, and there are limits in flight that seem to be based on what fixed-wing aircraft can do.Two things I am trying to do and failing with are autorotation and settling with power (vortex ring state). In the former, (on the top-secret model I am reviewing), I cut the power, disengage the clutch, yet as the rotors slow down, so to does the forward speed of the 'copter, so that I cannot maintain airspeed for the autorotation,…

Hi,do any of you know of any re-paints for this great heli by Alphasim, Sikorsky MH-53J.I have looked here, but could only find one bright coloured expedition one.I seem to remember a short while ago an author made a pack of about 6 liveries, but they were not for the Sikorsky MH-53J, which is a shame as they were fantastic looking, and offered a variety.Thanks for any info.

Hi all,Before I go bonkers, or give up on helicopters completely,doesn anyone have a mission or an mpeg or somethingthat demonstrates how to land a 'copter correctly? I can take off and (at least in the Bell JetRanger) flyreasonably well, but as for landing on a specific spot,fugitaboutit. (Unless you count crashing on the specificspot). I've done the FSX 'copter missions 1-3 successfully, butonly by changing the Robinson (sp?) to a JetRanger, andeven then only by "flying" by setting to view to the tailboom.
