Hi all-After having some real fun with the copters (which will only increase with trackIR) I have a few questions.I've only really goofed around so far - but it was -serious- goofing ;) and have been able to fly and land with a decent degree of accuracy. Some hard landings, but that's what soft seats are for!Anyway, I've noticed something similar to fixed-wing aircraft: supposing one is at full throttle, there is a maximum forward velocity and a maximum rate of climb. (All other things being equal.) Or, at least, it seems this way, and, if true, stands to reason that this is the case for the full range of collective combinations. So, my question is, I guess - just as in fi…

anyone using autopilot and autohover for landings at oil rigs and buildings roof ?I am having difficulties in hovering over elevated helipads because the autohover uses radar altimeter. It would be better if they could use de barometric altitude.Jose.

Is anyone else getting "403 -Permission denied" errors when trying to access www.hovercontrol.com ? I can get to the download area fine, just not the front page.

Until today I was unaware of this reality. For me, dedicated more & more to the worlds of X-Plane, LOMAC and ELITE, using MSFS from time to time only happens when the ride is on any of the RealAir masterpieces, PMDG's 744, LevelD767 or Feelthere's ERJ145.I would love to use helicopters more often (and I will starting today!) in MSFS but none felt really chalenging. Basicaly MSFS helos lack lots of realistic effects, are too easy to control and for someone who is using X-Plane helos for quite a while a ride in one of the default or even some of the best add-on helos for MSFS is a deception.Well, things started changing last friday when I replaced my hardware ccontrol s…

I don't know if I should shake Steve Cartwright's hand or slap him. :) After reading his tutorial I finally "got it" and can now fly FS helicopters with a reasonable degree of control. I've been flying them so much lately the wife is getting a little annoyed. (Oh well, she'll get over it. :-hah ).Back to the original question. I installed Rory Kelly's CH-53 and for some reason I have no 2D panel. I usually fly with the VC but on the 53 without the 2D panel there is no radio stack, engine controls, etc.. Looking at the panel.cfg makes me think there is no 2D panel with this A/C.Any suggestions for a replacement? Thanks,Mike

Anyone,I picked up the last copy for $3.91 at EB. I think she rung it up wrong but I'm not complaining. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong. I've flown the second training mission at least 6 times. The book is no help.I pick up the injured guy, land at the hospital, open the door but no one delivers the guy to the hospital! I even tried Sh-F6 to deploy the stretcher team but they say they do not see any injured. Thanks in advance!Jim

In FS2002 everytime I call up the Pedistal Window I get a view of the back seat of the helicopter. Seems to be no way I can get a forward view. Very hard to fly looking into the back seat. Infact, there is now way I can even pan around the outside of the aircraft. I know it is the autopilot gauge that causes the problem with this window, because I've commented it out in the panel.cfg file, and all works fine --- but no autopilot of course. I use two controllers SaitekX45 and CH Virual Pilot Pro game port yoke and peddals.

Has anyone found any key combinations for the rotor trim in the FS2004 R-22 ?Its is used very often in order to cruise in balance and the only way I found till now is to pull/push the knob with the mouse in the subpanel with the engine instruments.Using the mouse constantly while flying manually a helicopter with joystick in FS is not an easy job !Kyprianos Biris :-cool[link:avsim.com/greece/hvacc]Hellenic vACChttp://vateud.org/images/vatsim-eurs.gif

I have the Dodosim 206 copter and when I am landing and starting to spin and lose control, rather than crashing, the whole sim locks up and when I Ctrl-Alt Del, I get the "FS is not responding" message. If I have a good landing there is no problem. Just when it starts to spin and would otherwise crash, the whole sim crashes instead. Any ideas?? I have 1 gig ram so I don't think ram is the problem, but I don't know for sure. Thanks. Tom

I recently got the Dodosim 206 copter and noticed that when trying to contro it with my joystick it seems quite jerky and even when I am keeping the stick steady, it starts to turn at times or bank without warning until I compensate. I have the sensitivities set according to the manual's recommendations (max with no null zone). Any suggestions? I have a regular USB joystick. Thanks. Tom

It appears my problem of keeping my Bell 206 level is due to my "self-centering joystick" causing me to keep forward pressure to maintain level flight. Can anyone suggest a good, fair-priced joystick that would by most realistic for the Dodosim 206? I was told in a post that a FFB with FFB turned off would do nicely. Is this the only kind that does not have a self-centering spring?? Thanks. Tom

I just got the Dodosim Realstart 206 and it seems way more realistic than the default 206, especially in startup. What I am having trouble with is keeping it level and at altitude. I have no problem with lower collective and a speed of 60 knots or so, but when I try to increase torque (to 70 or 80) to get her to cruise at about 80 or 90 knots, I am forced to push the joystick forward and find it chasing the vertical speed needle up and down to try and maintain altitude. What's the trick to keeping it level at higher airspeeds and torque? It behaves as one would expect in a fixed wing plane, where a pilot would simply use trim to compensate for the climb and I assume you c…

I am trying to use an MD500E helo in AI. It has the modified .air file but when I setup the aircraft.cfg I used the original contact points and engine, rotor data, etc. The helo shows up but when it starts to turn on the ground to taxi to the runway the front skid digs in and it tips over. I can't find Holger Sandmann or Doug Callihan who have made a lot of other aircraft.cfg's for AI but can't locate either one of them for any help. Any help sure would be appreciated. Thanks, regards, Bob.

I just took a scenic flight in a Bell Ranger 206 at a local fair and forgot to ask the pilot if the Ranger had any type of autopilot. My local TV station also uses the 206 and flies constantly and at good distances. Does anyone know if they have an autopilot to limit pilot fatigue, or do they contantly have to keep their hand on the cyclic?? Thanks. Tom

In the Avsim library:http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=68395I have been playing with this helo tonight, and I am mightily impressed. This is after downloading many FS9 freeware helos (and buying couple payware ones too), which has mostly been an exercise in frustration as many of them are not all that good in one or more aspects. It does not have a 2D cockpit but the 3D detail of the entire aircraft, inside and out, is very good and although I have not flown a real one (yet - I'm working on that), the flight instruments attempt to emulate the advanced toys that are in the real EC120's panel, complete with multiple pages on both the PFD and secondary displays. The…

Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!Almost a year ago I decided to purchase a backup CD for FLY 2 in case mine got damaged. It came with a "fivepack" including Search and Rescue 3. A few weeks ago I saw a show about Coast Guard helicopter rescues and it whetted my appetite, so I finally installed SAR 3. First off, it is definitely more of a flying game than a sim, but I think it is highly enjoyable. I'm not an expert on the subject, but the flight dynamics seem pretty good. Attempting to creep in to land on a cutter in a 15 knot headwind, almost there then- whoah! After several attempts, I could swear this "game" was accurately modeling the effect of entering the lee of th…

I have a Marine One helo. I have atc_airline=MARINE ONE in the aircraft.cfg. Editvoicepack has a callsign for Marine One. I can't get the helo to be called Marine One. What other lines do I have to add in the aircraft.cfg to get it called Marine One? Thanks, regards, Bob.
