Just a friendly reminder that the only West Coast USA helicopter-specific airshow (that I'm aware of) is coming soon, on Saturday June 12.More details here: http://www.hiller.org/aviation-programs/ve...l-challenge.phpI have been to it three times over the last four years and it's a blast for rotorheads. Lots of demonstrations and static displays!I will probably be a helper-bee loading pax for Showcopters/Verticare's R44 helicopter rides, so if you see a tall blond guy ushering people to and fro, stop by and say hi!Dave Blevinshttp://www.flightfactory-simulations.com/h...ster_banner.jpg

I re-installed this aircraft in FS002 on Friday after a long spell away from it. (I don't really fly FS2002 for anything else at this point, but hadn't un-installed it for some reason...) As stated here earlier, I have been frustrated that many of its unique features do not work in FS2004 - I'm talking about the incredible autopilot and flight director/coupler. Having spent several hours with it over the weekend in FS2002, I must once again declare that this is one of the finest freeware FS aircraft ever made, and certainly it is the best helicopter in terms of real-world systems simulation. It definitely takes some time to get set up correctly, but I now have a custom CH …

Mine won't build up enough rpm's to lift more that a couple of inches off the ground. I would like to fly this chopper but can't figure what is wrong. It runs okay at startup but no lift when I work the collective. Don

I have been looking all over for a paint job like the helicopter that was used on the television series "Magnum P.I."Does anybody know where I can find one. I have attempted to do one my self. But not having much luck with it yet... I also am not having much luck on finding some really good photos of the actual helo to even venture in trying it again...Below is a photo of what i think it looked like. But not really sure..

Is there any way to reverse the throttle settings in FS 2002/04?As a newby to sim helo flying, but 10 years experience in real helo flying, to me lowering the collective sets the helo down. Unfortunately, bottoming the collective in Microsoft FS increases the throttle and twarts my efforts to land (or takeoff).I would like to reverse the process so that pulling the collective back towds me will increase power.I want to fly the helo's but these things are KILLING me.Thanks!Gundog.

Finding a controllable helo (for a non-expert) was darn difficult in FS2002. I eventually settled on:- Bell222b - Devins- New Apache - Graham & Brendan- AS 365N3 'Heli-Link - Aerospatiale Dauphin' - Pankkonen- Mi-24D Hind - Ito- Sikorsky S-61 Evergreen - Dave Hardcastle.Any hints to shorten my search in FS2004?I like to land on rooftops, frigates & carriers.Anyone tried the Payware Cobra?Vrystaat

Somebody posted the other day looking for an EC-120 wondering where they could find one. I replied back that I didn't know of one but did have an EC-130. Well, in my browsing around tonight I managed to stumble across it. I looked for that post but couldn't find it so I thought I would post the link here to that helo. The site is in French but just scroll down, you can't miss it.http://dsma.homelinux.net/divers.php?cat=2http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/68706.jpg

I've had about a week to play with FS9. There are several things I like about it, and several that I don't. Unfortunately, when it comes to helicopters, I'm wondering whether the new R22 was worth the tradeoffs in how the other helicopters now behave (both the stock '206 and aftermarket aircraft). The end result is that I will probably be keeping ol' faithful FS2002 on the disk indefinitely (until 2006?).The R22 visual model is great, and the VC/instrument panel look great as well. It seems to be a little more nimble in its flight characteristics than the 206, as it should. However, the autorotational capability is just flat broken. Another poster says that he's learned h…

I installed the A/P on the A109 that I fly with FS2004 (easy_hap.zip)I have observer that in straight & level flight if you exceed ~100Kts at ~75% Torque the aircraft starts porpoising in the yaw axis (left & right). As soon as I reduce torque to ~60% and it drops below ~90 Kts it stops the effect.Any suggestions ?Does it happen to you ?I suspect it comes from the increased rudder the helicopter needs to stay straight which is something you don't step on when on A/P flight.Kyprianos Biris :-cool[link:avsim.com/greece/hvacc]Hellenic vACChttp://vateud.org/images/vatsim-eurs.gifhttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg

I have observed the following weird effect. You load the 109 on FS2004 and the textures initially are blury. You zoom in very close and they become more crisp. Then you zoom out and they saty crispy. This is the only way to have it displayed properly.I run FS2004 on P4 3.0, 1Gb RAM, Windows XP SP1GeForce FX5950, latest WHQL drivers.AA, AF : no custom settings (set to "application" default setting).FS2004 in Windowed mode.I attach you a sample of before and after the zoom.Does this happen to you ?Is there a way to get around it ?http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/65431.jpgKyprianos Biris :-cool[link:avsim.com/greece/hvacc]Hellenic vACChttp://vateud.org/images/vatsim-eurs.gifh…

Howdie Guys,Does anyone know what the keypress is to operate the rotor brake which is now modeled in Fs2004? According to the assingments, it should be Shift+B, but i cant get any response from it using the A109 which has recently been released. Any help would be appreciated.RgdsAidihttp://www.vfr-flightcenter.com/avsim_sig.jpg

Hi everybody,I wonder why it is not possible to autorotate with a helicopter in fs9. As far as I remember in fs2000 (or was ist 2002?) an autorotation was possible quite realistic. with crtl-f1 set the engine to idle, looked at the needles to split and went down smoothly. Even some of the helicopters were able to come to a reasonable hover after the flare. I am not a programmer, so I do not know where the problem lies. This is just an advise - or better a wish - for future projects of more and more realistic helicopters. That

This is a helicopter sound effect that, I think, I found some time ago when doing peer to peer music downloads. It's an MP3 file.Sounds to me like a Bell 47...a sound I'm familiar with. The copter hovers to a landing, idles down the engine long enough to cool down the CHT and then flips off the mags. You can hear the blades continue to whip the air after the engine stops. If you've got good speakers, turn those babys UP! You can almost feel the sand being blown into your eyes. 1:21 in length 1.85 MB file sizeLeft-click to play. To save, right-click on the link and choose "save target as". Hi guys,I'm thinking of giving helicopters in FS2002 (Pro) a go but I don't really know where to look - the defualt Bell 206 seems very dodgy and unstable. What do you reckon would be the best thing to learn on? What's avaliabe freeware and payware wise? And finally do you know of any good military helicopters, especially the Lynx Mk3/Mk8, Merlin, Sea King or Squirrel (sp?).Thanks in advance.Matt

There is a new Dauphin in the FS2004 Helicopter file area on Saturday morning. I downloaded it, thinking that it might have tweaks to make the autopilot work, but no such luck. This version has the same FS2002-only autopilot and non-animated rotor blades in the VC - i.e. just as advertised, it's a repaint only.I sure hope Antti (or someone) finds the time to update the aicraft and panel gauge so that it works like it did in FS2002. I miss it.Dave Blevins
