Aeroflys new (Latest update) "Insane" shadow mode. This setting is recommended only for cards with 8gb of memory or more, as it's a graphics memory hog. Aerofly will automatically display lower settings on cards with less memory. A GTX 1070 will work with this setting, but it's intended for 1080 and above graphics cards.

Dear flight friends, Have downloaded the Utah content and it's absolutely amazing that it's available for free. Enjoyed Aeroflyfs2 in VR so far! The problem however is that I dont't see any airports in the Utah region. As far as I know at least Salt Lake City would be a takeoff option. I checked the Steam library integrity and also de-installed Aeroflyfs2 and downloaded the complete package again yesterday. any help would be greatly appreciated! Tnx Jozef The Netherlands

This was posted on Steam: an sneak peak on the new region that is on final! Any idea where this might be? http://www.ipacs.de/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=4805&stc=1&d=1488677391

Hello everybody, Really love afs2 and oculus rift. Super stable and the best graphics in any flight game/sim. Just enjoy flying and looking around instead of flightplanning and endless playing with complex flightsystems. A helicopter would be absolutely amazing for afs2! Will there be one in the near future? Would love to pay for one btw. Yours Jozeff Thank you

  7. So, I´ve bought aerofly and found it very impressive but it remains a showcase to me at the moment. I know that some scenery developers like ORBX declared that they will release something for this simulator soon. Nevertheless, I could never use Aerofly in a serious fashion with default aircraft. High quality aircraft are for me the most important on a simulator and I could live even without a good weather addon or realistic scenery. Did any top-tier delevoper expressed any desire or intention to develop for Aerofly as of now?

I have been given a VR headset for my Android phone; the gifter thought I would be able to get the full VR experience using it with Aerofly. Is this correct, or is the VR option only for the PC version at this stage? (I know the quality would be poor but it would be interesting to get a feel for the experience more cheaply than buying a Rift!) Bryn

Is this cool, or what? I've thought VoiceAttack would be great for Aerofly for quite some time, but never asked the developers as I figured it would be a low priority. This guy didn't just think about it. He's actually working on it!

  10. Dear audience, user fariesen published a link in the steam forum. It shows a contribution in swiss television about using aerofly FS 2 for VR motion simulators. Enjoy the video: http://telez.ch/report.htm?videoid=205892544

After some complaints IPACS posted an official announcement concerning the 10 GB beta update and it tells us a new region is coming up! Let me quote: "This release in the beta channel is a fairly large download but doesn't add much to the space requirements as it mostly replaces files already installed in your Aerofly FS 2 folder. This update sets groundwork for an upcoming region release, fixes some tree templates, and replaces/updates some aerial images to newer versions so that you will have the latest ground coverage for your regions. Upcoming releases may be larger than normal and will add to the total space requirement for Aerofly FS 2 once the new region is av…

...? I loaded a glider and sat on the take off runway wondering what to do... Anyway to get this thing up in the air, apart from positioning yourself at an altitude?

  15. I have been requested to submit detailed images of wind turbines and mountaintop observatories for consideration to add to Aerofly FS 2 DLC areas. Does anyone have a favorite observatory dome location they would like included? How about a specific location for a mountainside or valley of large wind turbines in California, Arizona or Nevada? Are there any wind turbines in the New York City area? hmmm. Post your link here or PM me with your suggestions. Regards. Ray

Ok, the resolution is bad. Disappointing. Really pixelated. Feels like you are playing inside a PS2 game or something like that. Not good. Things in the distance are nothing but shimmering pixels. Things also seemed a bit small, as if I am flying in a smaller version of the Cessna or Airbus. I expected things to be bigger. But... ...once you actually take off, look around, fly, go up and down and whatever you do in a plane I tend to completely forget what I just said above! My PC is on the attic and my wife could hear me laugh like a little kid when I was admiring all the 3D screws and knobs and switches. For the 6th time. Taking off feels totally different now. Seeing …

Right now the AP of the Airbus doesn't completely work as it should but it does more than you'd expect and it is very well possible to fly with it. Because some things are not working propely right now (it is being worked in) I made some sort of tutorial on how to set things up in order to do a proper flight without very odd things happening (like diving into the ground when you enable the AP after take off), Take off - check T.O. config, make sure everything is green (Autobrake to MAX, flaps 1, arm ground spoiler) - turn on FD (no need to set both) - set desired altitude (do NOT push or pull the knob!) - set desired V/S (do NOT push or pull the knob!): I use 3500…

  21. I'd say, simplicity of use together with three features I really have to point out: -The quality of the flight dynamics, even if they've somehow simplified things like damage model from the previous version, but can of course probably be activated again, I'm almost sure. But the overall feel of flying each of the models is simply superb, and gives me a unique sensation of being there! - Scenery: the photo scenery is excellent, compared to anything I ever tried for either MSFS or X-Plane with ortophotos, and while it makes me start to really consider finally investing on a bigger SSD just for the sim, I really don't mind that Aerofly occupies that much space, provi…

  22. I have just spent the last two hours, minutely adjusting myriads of setting combinations, to achieve the clearest, crispest, wave/undulating and shimmer free, visuals, with added shadow field enhancement, and have achieved it with the following settings. I would adjust a certain field element, higher or lower in its field, and then run the sim, observe in the New York Area, on the ground and then in the air, shut down the sim, readjust single fields, or multiples, and then run the sim again to observe the same scenario each time. After two hours of such, I have AF2 visually 'deadly', (large smile). With the sim locked at 120 FPS, with the settings below, I run …

Anyone knows about available software that gives you something like a notepad in AFS2 when you are using the Rift? I only know about Virtual Desktop but that seems a rather 'heavy' option and I don't even know if you can actually call that one up during a flight...? I notice I need some sort of ingame notepad to 'write' things down like VOR freqs and radials, headings, etc. on. Switching to the menu in AFS2 or taking off the Rift kills the immersion...

  24. I think FS2 is a very promising sim and it's quite unfair to relegate it in this "Other sims etc etc" section. It should be in its own forum section just like FSX, P3D and XP11 do. Plus, FS2 already is one of the three major platforms picked by Orbx, putting it at the same position as FSX 64bit and P3D 64bit.

In FS2, is it possible to have dedicated instrument panel display on a second monitor? Right now I'm running a program called Air Manager on a 2nd networked PC that is dedicated to display instruments when flying XP11 or P3D. I don't think Air Manager supports FS2, but nonetheless wonder whether similar things can be done with FS2. Or like FSX/P3D, you can always open a separate window to show instruments and move it to a second monitor. Don't know whether FS2 has that option too.
