Because there were no updates at all about Orbx addons for AFS2 I finally asked a question about the state of things on the Orbx forum. When could we expect the promised TE PNW or maybe GB? After a while JV replied and then locked the topic. He didn't lock it saying the topic was crossing lines or anything but I think he simply locked it to prevent further discussion about AFS2. Anyway, since this obviously can't be discussed on the IPACS forum, the AFS2 Steam forum and the Orbx forum, I decided to post this here. In reply to my question when we could expect the next Orbx TE region for AFS2 JV replied the following. I highlighted a few lines in red myself. "TE G…

  6. Just posted at Orbx 😃 G'day guys, I thought I might post a few screenshots of my latest airport for Aerofly - Palm Springs Intl in Southern California. This has been a project going on behind the scenes for some time now, and aside from a few last tweaks, is very close to release. I chose this airport as, much like Monterey and Eagle County, it is located in the heart of the default scenery areas, and as such is surrounded by plenty of beautiful (default) scenery to explore. The airport itself includes an enormous coverage area, a highly-detailed rendition of the airport and city, dozens of landmarks, and even a special helipad feature in anticipation of the R22…

IPACS posted this on Steam today: "ATC is still going to be quite some time before its released." Coming from them that means we won't be seeing it this year. I even doubt if we will see it next year. Which probably means weather won't be started on before 2020... and so on. Needless to say I reinstalled P3D: I just needed a flight with weather, ATC, traffic... What a terrible shame things are taking sooooooooooooooo long... I've been optimistic for quite some time but this little line of news really killed most of my expectations. I surely will enjoy TrueEarth Netherlands for quite some time in AFS2 but it's clear AFS2 won't be a full sim (to replace P3D or XP) with…

I won't cover all aspects of M2 as I think SweViver and other testers will do more comprehensive and deeper reviews. I will focus on something I care most: resolution. I mainly play flight simulation in VR, so resolution has been my utmost concern (and complaint) with current VR headsets. I have watched the video of the last Berlin meeting, and I am aware that there are quite some people playing sims as …

From DrHotwing: IPACS https://www.aerofly.com/community/forum/index.php?thread/13433-orbx-te-netherlands-bug-announcement/&postID=66569#post66569 We have detected a bug for customers of the current Steam version of Orbx TE Netherlands. The current Steam version causes most buildings to appear twice, reducing performance quite a bit. For everyone who has the Steam version of Orbx TE Netherlands we have released an update that should improve performance and eliminate double loaded cultivation.

Hi, I started flight simulation in 1982 on Sinclair/ZX Spectrum 48ko! I have had many simulators since then (All Sublogic, MS Flight simulator, Fly!1 and 2, Flight Unlimited 2 and 3 + many War FlightSims and so and so......) Currently I am on FSX, P3Dv4.3 and AFS2. I finally bought AFS2 thinking rightly that it represented something different from the MS and Lockheed Martin line. Please, I would be very curious to have clear answers to the following questions: Scenery: currently ORBX has started making scene/airport for AFS2...there will be more. Great!!! Aircrafts: for which obscure reasons isn't there a single good developer (you know …

Atmo scattering is a well known algorithm nowadays (there are many free online docs on how to code it), is usually done with only a shader, requires relatively little time to implement (it's not a big feature like ATC or weather), should not impact performance significantly, but adds a lot to visual realism and beauty. (My artist impression of atmo scattering in 2nd pic. I might have overdone it a bit, but you get the idea).

This might be an odd question to ask on this forum but does anyone know if there are any other forums, apart from the two official ones, that have a lively discussion of Aerofly FS 2?

Quite a few people like the DR400 and would love to use it over TrueEarth Netherlands and South Florida. Well, it has been updated and released this afternoon! https://www.aerofly.com/community/filebase/index.php?file/61-aircraft-workshop-dr400/ Take note: it's not a ready to use plane but a 'workshop version'. It's very easy to create though!

I find myself using Aerofly2 more and more for a few reasons. Firstly the fluid movement of this platform. It is a simple joy to see how fluid and immersive this simulator is. Secondly, the scenery is exceptional. I can practice approaches into airports with the excellent photo scenery. This makes great practice for getting familiar with airports that I have not visited yet with my real airplane. Yes, I would like to see some improvements, like the refinement of aircraft systems and real weather for instance. I can only hope third party developers like A2A create continent for this superb platform. I am confident the scenery will be expanded as Orbx has thrown the…

In case anyone is interested in some more simming related stuff (instead of just more scenery): I modded the Q400 so it can start cold and dark. I can now use my Majestic ‘to do list’ to start and operate the Q400 in AFS2 (apart from the GPU and FMS related stuff, of course). Dash-8 Q400 cold and dark mod on the IPACS forum
