I wonder if IPCAS Team, which I am almost sure is filled with a BIG TODO list, and even knowing about the wiki, could find some time to write down a more deep /insight article about the approach followed in their Flight Dynamics engine, covering it's potentialities, upcoming plans for fine tuning of areas like Mach effects, engine fine tuning, complex systems implementation, and so on... It should focus on the present state of the FDM, what can really be modelled with it right away, covering aspects like the interference between lift / drag / thrust generation objects / surfaces and how they are used to model a given aircraft, how for instance prop aircraft effects are m…

  2. Because AF2 is an embedded Steam.exe file, and you can't create a direct profile on nVidia Inspector, I had not been using that program to tweak the visual settings for the latest nVidia driver suite, of which you see in this later screen grab at the top. I had great visuals, without the use of N.I., with AF2...so wasn't too 'panty-in-a-knot' over no profile of its own. I know that AF 2 is an Open GL simulator, and not DX (whatever), but...for whatever reason, having these settings in play, within N.I. seems to work in post production. I know that XPlane's use of Open GL, is not affected at all, by N.I. settings...but AF2 seems to have Open GL settings tweaked by the…

Drawback 1 There isn't much to do about it on the various forums. Due to real life obligations I often spend more time on the various forums than I do actually flying. With FSX, P3D and XP11 this wasn't a problem at all: enough to talk about! I could enjoy myself online all day long. However, hardly anyone is talking about Aerofly FS 2 and that's a shame. Not only because it makes my days boring  but also because it is worth being talked about. Drawback 2 Smoothness is all that counts in flightsims. To me an fps above 20 in FSX/P3D/XP11 was quite nice already and when it was around 30 it was smooth to me. I was very happy that an fps 30 was smooth to me …

Thanks to HiFlyer, I now know to hit the Ctrl-F1 to see the display of fps. It actually turned out to be not so spectacular than I thought. I set fps unlimited and all graphics settings to Ultra. Over NYC I actually only got 60-70fps at 4K. Nowhere near a triple-digit fps I guess this double-digit fps also explains why fps unlimited gives me least stuttering, as making AF2 lock to 240 fps or 120 fps just not possible. That worries me a bit in the future when AF2 adds all those extras, the fps probably can easily be halved. Of course, I'm sure on 1080p the fps can be much higher. My system is 7700K@ 5 GHz, 32GB, Titan XP, 1TB SSD, Win10 Pro etc. On hardware us…

Hello everybody, Have been reading a lot about flyinside and Xp11/P3d and many users have Performance issues, even with Nvidia1080 and ddr4 memory. I wonder if anyone had experiences with the gtx970 and the rift in aeroflyfs2 but those are !erely 1080 users. I have a 2600 @. 4.6 ghz and 32 Gb memory Thanks in advance

  7. Congrats to the Aerofly Team for reaching 10,000 in sales while receiving excellent user reviews. http://steamspy.com/app/434030

Just did some flights in FS2. Most things are going fine, however I couldn't get TrackIR 5 to work in FS2. In "Settings/Control" TrackIR icon is presented at the bottom of the screen. When I click it, a window opens and shows TrackIR is enabled. -- TrackIR problem solved: https://steamcommunity.com/app/434030/discussions/0/357286663679029433/ Just need to click on the "Game Updates" on the upper right corner of TrackIR window. There are two other glitches. First. if I use TARGET to run Warthog HOTAS on script, FS2 will fail to recognize the HOTAS setup. Right now I just directly assign those buttons. But scripting gave me a lot more flexibility and available keys…

  9. I am loving it, but on my 55" HDTV there is some wavy navy going on in crowded areas, NYC buildings for instance. I tried setting up a profile in Nvidia Control Panel but think I made it worse. I read that NI does not work as AF FS is locked in with 4MSAA. But someone suggested using NCP, but I think I messed it up. Is there a profile that works through NI, or NCP that will let you fine tune the AA? Thank you. How do I get it back to original settings?

When this early-access gem gets fleshed out, with weather, ATC...well...bye-bye FSX and P3D...bye-bye...don't let the door slam your butt as you leave.... 150 plus FPS...graphics, like you are there. Native VIVE support. OMG! You have got to fly this sim, to believe what a modern 64 bit graphics engine can do with also; modern CPU/GPU combo's! Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooowee! Oh...and ORBX will be porting over. They already have done it...and they say their properties look fabulous and native within the Sim base....good times ahead...wow! John V's already…

Just decided to do my first VOR only flight and did so in the Baron 58 because it has no GPS and a nice set of VOR gauges and instruments. I flew from an airport without a VOR to an airport which also has no VOR using a VOR in de distance without getting near to (it was a very short test flight but I didn't get closer than 23 nm from the VOR). It took some time how to use the Navigation map to figure out which headings and specially which radials to use and also the distances I had to watch for but... it worked flawlessly. Found the destination, making sure I ended up at the FAF that AFS2 always conveniently shows, without any problems and without using the map. I love th…

Ok. So I finally had the time to do a proper flight in AFS2. Let me share with you the good, the bad and the ugly. I decided to fly the route that Mitch suggested, Phoenix to Vegas. And there the first problem arose: there is no search function on the Navigation map, not for ICAO codes but also not for cities or airport names. So I had to Google for the places and also for what specific airport I should be looking at and after a while I found the proper airports. Not too good, in fact I found this a bit bad. What I did like was the ease with which you could select your runway and if it was the departure or destination. I do find it a bit odd (and slightly confusing at…

As i dive deeper into the world of VR, i figured i'd post some results as I move along. I've done the same thing for X-Plane 11 in this thread and also for P3D in this thread.. So far the VR experience is best in Aerofly FS2.. Xplane, i cant get the full 3840 res to work without choking the system, so there i run at 2880 and 4x AA, still not bad but not great, while P3D was the sharpest with least shimmering (at the full 3840 res), at least second to Aerofly FS2. But out of the box no tweaking Aerofly FS2 was the best VR experience in town, though at this state not the most complete sim around, but give it time.. First up was actually the newest test I did…

I'm wondering if on strong winds one can notice some clipping effect from the buildings... ? For instance, pick the C172, a high and large tower, a wind from 12 o'clock, from behind the tower, and fly towards it, first not aligned and then align with the building and see if there's any type of reduction in intensity, or even better - turbulence !

I really enjoy mountain flying in the Switzerland terrain but the image clarity just doesn't seem quite as good as the Southwest US and the green is just a little too bright/saturated for my taste - what do you think? I feel like I am in a modeled synthetic world around the smaller airports - Zurich is nice though. Thanks Dave

  20. Quote from the aerosoft steam community. "We have already spent some time developing several systems. If you take a look at the Cessna 172 for example, almost all switches in the cockpit work (apart from the intercom and engine-cut off). You can even set the battery master off to kill all electronics or turn them off individually. People usually compare our default simulator with the payware add-ons that came 10 years after the initial release of FSX. Of course we don't have all that yet but I think we have quite a number of switches in the cockpits that do the appropriate thing. Autobrakes, autospoilers, LNAV, VNAV, cockpit lighting, external lights, thats most of th…

I was wondering if the sceneries in AeroFly will expand to NYC, Hawaii, etc. This sim reminds me of Flight Unlimited. If it wasn't for FU I-III, I would not be a CFII today. I'd also love to see some AI, ATC for vfr & ifr ops, ASN type weather generator, and Realair GAs. So far I like the direction is heading. TKS

Unless I have not seen it, it appears that only linear relationships between controller and pitch/roll/rudder deflections can be setup. I prefer an exponential setup so the amount of movement near the centering point is much less than near the extremes. The Extra 330 is so fast in response, it is difficult to fly smoothly. I also notice that the Extra has a second order damped response (it rings/oscillates a little with a step input) - is that also for the actual aircraft? Love FS2 in VR - I can get 75fps (DK2) easily - still would like to have ATW for those few times I can't maintain 75fps Dave
