Folks, I have looked through the forums and I cannot find whether ASN has it's own P3D2.3 installer, but I see many people successfully using ASN in P3D. Any clarification on this please Thanks Dmitriy

SO I was running thru the steps from Rob A in the processing of doing the update to v2.4, and I realized that I had none of these simconnect files in my set up. copy file SimConnect.cfg to C:\Users\[YourUserName]\Documents\Prepar3D v2 Files copy file SimConnect.ini to C:\Users\[YourUserName]\Documents\Prepar3D v2 Files copy file SimConnect.XML to C:\Users\[YourUserName]\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2 So then I went back and did a bit of investigation and realized that P3D does not install these files. Some third party addon needs to install them. My question here is how do I go about figuring out which addons need simconnect? …

Hi, Here comes a relativ short performance report for those interested or is just on the edge to buy P3Dv2. I will post my cfg file down the line for others and feel free to see if you can spot a thing or two that might even enhance the performance. The flight for today was KSEA-CYVR using FTX Global in hybridmode and with FTX PNW, ASN at 3 layers, REX4 in 1024 mode ,todays weather theme for CYVR in REX4 which give me a little rain QNH1022. Trafficmanager set at only 5 aircrafts. System: i7-4770K@4,7GHZ GTX780sc ACX@1110 mhz RAPTOR P3D DRIVE 8GB RAM 1600MHZ BUT RUNNING 1333 Time-------------: dawn set, also UTC 0730. Night testing also. 4. Great news, since spars grid supersampling was impossible to use in v2.3 due to heavy FPS impact it's now working fine without any impact.

I did a fresh v2.4 install yesterday with no problem but after the install I had to copy and paste the whole file and move it to my SSD. (forgot to point it there) When I did this the P3D desktop did not work any more since I moved the sim over to the SSD. How do I set up another desktop P3D icon that will work with P3D in its new home?

Hi I have one of those little Saitek Flight Instrument Panel displays that I cant get to work in P3D version 2 and I am about to give up! :( I run Windows 8.1 64 bit operating system but I believe this is not be part of the problem as the drivers from the Saitek website now supports Windows 8. Driver installs to c:\Program Files (x86) as well as some files to the c:\program files just as it did when I used to run it in FSX. I then edit the exe.xml file in c:\user\appdata\roaming\Lockheed Martin to include a start-up of the SaiflightX program. I notice that when I try and manually start the SaiflightX it will not run and says something about "cant start a side-by-s…

  7. Hello all, I have Dino Cattaneo's F-35B and C models on FSX working perfectly. i tried to port them to Prepar3D v2.4 by copying their folders into P3d SimObjects/Airplanes folders, and by copying the respctive airplanes files on the FSX Effects folder to P3D Effects folder, but still it is not working. The issue is that P3D does not show the B and C models on the vehicle list. Does anyone have an idea of what may be happening? I think that P3D is seeing the B and C models as AI aircraft. If that's so, how can I change it? Thanks!

Hi Guys, Not sure if this is all going to be fixed by an eventual update to FSUIPC but I did a full uninstall of 2.2 (including deleting Rob's recommended folders to wipe) and a clean install of 2.3 I have installed FSUIPC 4934h So far, everything is working great, including my PFC Cirrus Beech Yoke, which is recognized by both P3D in the controls and also in FSUIPC, but the throttle quadrant, although also listed in the Controls menu, shows to response when I try to assign, say, an engine to one of the throttles. I have tried the usual unplug / plug back in via usb, and win7 finds the driver and installs successfully. When I try to calibrate it via windo…

I love Prepar3D. I tried version 2.4 and its fantastic. Unfortunately, I love the 737NGX even more so I'm stuck with FSX. Yesterday I made another attempt at using the NGX in Prepar3D. You would be baffled how easily it can be done. Nevertheless, with HDR lighting and all sorts of fancy in game graphical techniques, the NGX looks rather horrible and over-bloomy at night/dusk/dawn. In addition, FS2crew won't work by a long shot. It has come to a point where my frustration has taken over me. I so badly want to utilize the terrific simulator that is Prepar3D, but the lack of support for PMDGs aircrafts is just sad. Yes, I've heard rumors about the NGX, and the 777 for t…

I'm hopefully going to be getting a new rig next month. 8 GB ram, GTX970 4GB i7-4790K - I hope to o/c to 4.8 anyways.. would that be enough to run it well? Those in cockpit shadows look so crazy awesome, but I have to say I'm quite skeptical about the whole thing. that kind of rig would run FSX well. so I might just stick with that. two of my fav. addons - esdok camera and fspassengers, I just love. so... hard to give those up.

In FSX, FSCopilot provided the Time Sync that will always make sure FSX time is synced to RW. Is there any similar program that can ensure the time sync in P3D v2? (I keep getting out of sync by 10-15 mins at the end of the flight depending on the length of flight)

Hi All! I used to use flightsim as a kid (fs2000) and have now decided to get back into flight simulators after a long break. My how things have changed! So anyways, after doing a bit of reading i decided to spec up a new PC to run P3D (as FSX is now a dead horse) and i have a few questions before i get P3d 1. I have seen some videos on youtube with crazy graphics such as http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69eiUFVJ4CI&list=UUxBwCIwII9hehAOd5vxcZUA Is it realistic for an amateur to be able to reproduce this or is there alot of camera/recording trickery? (i know this particular example is fsx) 2. what would you recommend as the best addons for p3d to improve…

I run Prepar3D 2.3 on Windows 8.1 Update with a GTX780 (6GB) and the 337.88 driver. Specially in smaller waters all the reflections (which I have all enabled) look very odd at times. At a certain distance I see odd shapes, big rectangles or what seem to be reflections of trees and landscapes in the totally wrong location. When I get closer the right reflections pop into view but dislocated/detached from the scenery. Only when I get really close the reflections suddenly pop into the right place. Any idea what may be causing this? I deleted the shader cache but that didn't helpt. Is it a certain setting that is causing this? This has been posted about before and I wonde…

  16. I'm still using Prepar3D version 2.3 and suddenly I am getting this message when the simulator starts. "Flight Simulator did not shut down properly the last time you ran it...you should reboot the computer before continuing." Every time I load a flight this message appears. I don't remember experiencing a crash or any problems shutting the sim down. I have shut it down countless times with no error messages and yet every time I load P3D I get this message. For now at least it appears to be just a nuisance as I can close the message and continue with the sim. I haven't seen any problems with continuing yet but I would really like to get rid of this. Any suggestions?…

Gentlemen just curious if one of you have the issue when looking side views or top view if you have stutters.... Because I have and tried a lot to solve the issue but at this point the first in my virtual aviation history no go for me :( New full install instead of the update deleted all required remaining folders after de-install of V2.2.... Have great FPS and clear sharp textures and even headroom in the GPU memory department. Only stutters Due to the above fact parked the software in the virtual hanger Any ideas guys? Hi, I just uninstalled P3D v2.3 sucessfully with the setup exe and now the activation is aslo deactivated but why is the LM folder with 17.7 GB still on my c: drive? Should I remove it manually? On my Control Panel its also deleted.

  20. I wondered that last night, as I was doing a virgin rebuild of P3D v2.3 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The reasons (after using v2.4 for almost 20 hours, tweaking this..trying that...etc..) that I removed it from my system are the following: 1. A deteriorated graphic depiction, pixelated, granular, a huge step back in the progression of texture and graphic clarity. No amount of processing, or driver feature sets, could take away the harsh, granular ground textures. Nothing. 2. The fish-bowl depiction of the sky....as it wrapped around you, almost like how the Star Trek series depicted a warp fie…

  21. I've been trying to set a few of my aircraft's initial position via the keyboard commands, like control + enter or other keyboard combos to move the eyepoint back some and down (with a 1.0 zoom on triple screens).. I've found that as soon as you pick up the trackir and use it, it will recenter back to before the eyepoint was changed (when you hit the center button for trackir). I'm thinking that something needs changed in the aircraft.cfg file, but i'm not 100% positive which file and what to change (how to know the correct value). That is, i think in aircraft.cfg under [Views] there is something like eyepoint=-3, -0.85, 1.9 Even though the view in the sim ha…

  23. I'm quite pleased with the new light on the Cherookee, now I can enjoy flying at night again with this wonderful plane. I flew a couple of nigh flight in P3d and I was not initially convinced by the light beam during taxiing. I was finding it too narrow and not providing a wide enough vision ahead of the plane. Well, I was wrong, I flew tonight and I was surprised to notice how narrow is the landing light beam on the real bird. In fact, it is even larger on P3D than in the RW. Well I have to admit that A2A was correct and my impression was wrong. I just got used to taxiing with the Cherookee narrow beam. Here is a shot at CNV9 airport in P3d. Then the…

I have read a couple of times that the slider in P3D which controls the LOD of the terrain rings around the aircraft is set to 6.5 when at its maximum. Also it would appear that the tweak which allowed you to increase that value in FSX.CFG no longer works in P3D, for example setting LOD_RADIUS=8.5 does not work. Using the false colour mip-map texture files that I used to experiment with that tweak last year I decided to repeat the tests in P3D. As in previous post inner ring = white = 1024x1024 (i.e. sharp detail), Outter ring = deep red = 64x64 resolution mipmap (i.e. less sharp). See http://forum.avsim.net/topic/423417-lod-radius15-but-its-not-about-distance/ I ca…
