Hi I have FSX on my machine and have now also installed P3D. I bought and installed FTX Global for FSX, but it is compatible with both. Can I get FTX to install to both? As I understand it, when it installed it just found my FSX root directory, so I am wondering how to convince it to go and install in P3D too. Thanks

I'm usually pretty good at keeping up with upgrades and updates. But, I have been away from flying for a while due to series of very serious family issues and missed the patch to 2.3.11345. Now, I want to go to 2.4 but can't get there directly from my 2.2 installation. I (and a few others) have posted on the LM site asking if they could maybe keep the 2.3 patch available again for a while. But, I'm not too hopeful about that. If that remains the case, my only option is to do a re-install - is that correct? That is not that big of deal except for having to re-install all of my add ons. I'm guessing that there is no easy way around this? Thanks, Rick

Hello everyone, Does your Fraps (3.5.99) loose "the contact" with your Prepar3D 2.3 ? It didn't happened with the previous version (2.2). All I had to check is that I have to launch FRAPS before P3D. Unfortunetly, with this 2.3, it works fine few minutes, then I loose the fps counter and all abilities to capture pic/vidéo.

I have noticed with P3D that the game doesnt seem to recognize the use of the numlock key for numberpad inputs....as it was in previous versions of FS.........I need to be able to have a separation between the numbers on the Numpad and PgUp, PgDn,Home, End, etc etc. Does anyone know if there a way to change this?.....perhaps in the cfg file? Gentlemen, I have made the decision to move in and try P3D. (Thank you,Rob and everyone who encouraged me) That is correct, I am coming from FSX-DX10. SO, you will see me here constantly asking questions. One of the things I think would improve night lighting are random twinkling lights. When your flying, trees hide a lot of lights, so as you fly, the light goes behind some object (leaf, building, sign etc..) and then it comes out from behind the object, it "lights" up again, this causes a twinkling effect. Is there a way to do simulate the appearance and disappearance of lights randomly?

Hi all- I'm flying the Lionheart Lear w/2 monitors. When I undock the auto pilot, drag it to the second monitor, the mouse cursor gets stuck to it and won't let go of the window. This is in full screen mode. After I ALT + Enter back into windowed, the cursor releases but the AP is no longer functional. Any ideas? I don't know if this is a P3D issue or an LH one but thought I would start here. Thanks, Mark

Just a thought on any future upgrades for Aerosoft's Airbus X Extended, A320-A321 series, A318,19 series, etc.. I think Aerosoft should implement some extra realistic features to the Airbus series' including a modifiable satcom installation, just as PMDG has put into the NGX and 777, because many airliners today have modified their aircraft with satcoms (I feel this would give it more of a modern, realistic feel). And also the ability to control the cabin lights, also just as PMDG has applied to their aircraft, would be great. Hey! i'm having some serious render problems in p3d 2.4. I spent the entire day trying to fix this but with no luck. I've tried changing FFTF and Lod_radius to all kinds of numbers but none of them do anything for me. As you can see there's a clear line where it stops rendering autogen and terrain. As my aircraft moves forward the "line" moves forward aswell. It's like there's a huge bubble around my plane, and outside of this bubble it doesnt render anything. This is really annoying. Any ideas?

Hello, Does anyone know of a program that will reduce the number of AI go-arounds at busy airports? I used to use AISmooth for FSX, but it is not compatible with P3D and the number of go-arounds is really starting to bother me. Thanks!

I desperate try to install a FSGenesis NEXTMap add on. When it starts installation this error appears: Could not create uninstall data folder: FSGDocs\Uninstall The seller told me that this error occurs with missing FSX Registry Entries (i have prepar3d) I contacted FSGenesis directly but waiting for an answer now. Maybe someone here knows about this error?

I am a real world commercial pilot and flight instructor. One thing I have to point out (with the hopes and intentions of a fix/removal/etc) is the extremely unrealistic wet runway refraction. Is there a way to remove this effect/feature? Everytime the simulator weather has BR -RA RA +RA CB +CB TS or any other type of non frozen precip occurring, the runways and taxiways lose there immersion factor. From a pilots perspective in a heavy rain, most of the time we dont even use windshield wipers because of the speeds we travel at. Hi! Been using the q400 for FSX quite along time now but since I'm starting to move over to P3D I'm wondering how to install it to this sim. Some say just point your installation to the P3D folder, but then the installer creates an FSX folder inside P3D. In addition, I patched it to 1.009 and still not working, i.e not showing up among other planes. What am I doing wrong?

Starting P3d after installing some ESS scenery now gives me a crash during load. One thing I am going to try is a "repair". I have reverted to base scenery.cfg and an older unmodified p3d cfg. I looked at various file dates but saw no reason for the failure just when autogen is being loaded. Does anyone know just what a "repair" would do in the case of P3D? A reinstall of P3D may be needed after copying all of the ORBX and A2A stuff that I have as well as simobjects folder. ================== Repair - same erro/crash at autogen load.

Hello everyone, the past few days I have really gotten into GA aircraft - putting aside the Boeings and Airbuses the time being. I saw a video where froogle assigned a rotary button on his Saitek for elevator trim and decided to give it a try. I must say that I love its use when hand-flying but here is where I get into problems. The aircraft I have been flying are the A2A 172 and 182 as well as Alabeo PA32 Saratoga. I just added the Seneca and all have the same symptoms. When I set the autopilot to, say, 8000 feet with VS set to 800, all will surpass the 8000-foot level until I manually find the sweet spot on the trim. The same goes for descent. So the question be…

I use MSAA 4x to get decent AA in P3DV2.x and w/o clouds, or with lower density clouds, all's well performance-wise. Load up even medium density clouds near the airplane, 2048x2048 textures for REX HD textures, and here's what happens: MSAA=none: FPS 48 MSAA=4x: FPS 28 MSAA=8x: FPS 18 Since clouds are nebulous amorphous structures there seems to be way less to zero reason to have AA effects imparted on cloud textures, but maybe I'm missing something key. If not, why the heck isn't there a solution to this? The answer must be that it's cooked into texture structures that P3D has to use for clouds and everything else, yes? One would hope programmer…

For those using EZdok in Windows 8.x, I cut and pasted the EZCA folder from the C:\Program Files (x86) folder onto my separate P3D drive and all crashing reports stopped. Event viewer has been clean for weeks now (of EZCA issues that is). I'm sure if you move it out of the programs files folder, it will accomplish the same thing. Install as you would normally, move the folder after completion and change the start and target paths in the shortcuts on your desktop and exe.cfg files respective to your new location.

I'm not sure if this indicates some problem that could affect things a lot. Every time I exit P3D, I get a warning of a fatal error shortly after. I don't get any text indicating what the error actually is, just that P3D had a fatal error and Windows is checking on it. This happens even when all I have running is P3D and FSUIPC as well as when I have addons such as ASN running alongside. Has anyone else encountered this and found out what it is and how to fix it?

Hi Getting back into flight sims after lengthy break. Currently re installing FS9 and debating a move to FSX or Prepar3d. I have a good machine and have started my research. What I would like to know which cost model to buy for Prepar3d would be best for a casual user who sims once a weekend. Buys a couple of mid tech add on aircraft and airport scenery. Cheers

As I understand P3D is an aviation training tool. In fact from what I have read it is specifically not for entertainment purposes. That's fine I need good sim training especially for instrument stuff. I am wondering though, if this software is for real-world training why is the navdata the same as FSX? If I wanted to go and practice some GPS approaches at my local airport, apparently I'm not able to do so, because everything is out of date? When I first heard that P3D was coming out, I got excited because I thought that it would be kept up-to-date, but from what I have heard that is not that case. Can someone expand on this a bit, I am a little confused. Thanks!

I am trying to use Art Pooles wonderful KAPF scenery within Prepar3d, problem being that most of the taxiways do not show up correctly. I believe this is due to a field altitude issue and the surrounding terrain. Does anyone know how I can fix this issue, I have attached a screenshot.
