Since yesterday (Feb 13) again a new entry at the p3d website. Title: P3D Beginners Guide from PlaneJoe. So who is the target audience with these kind of news items? I don't think it's the DoD. Probably they aim at academic users like the most of us are. I think it's an attempt to attract new academic users or to retrieve old users who went to MSFS. I also have MSFS, but every time I come back to good old P3D v5.3. MSFS is the CompactDisc and P3D is the vinyl record. Everybody thought that with the arrival of the CD it was over and out with vinyl records. But it was the opposite. Since a few years vinyl records are on the rise again. So will P3D. I love this si…

Hi everybody I'm trying to replace a roof texture which I think does completely destroy the realistic look of any scenery with autogen buildings. I don't know if it's default or ORBX or anything else. If someone just knows the filename, I could mod that a bit. Thanks, Dan

I was disappointed to discover that P3D didn’t include the northern lights (Aurora Borealis), even though FS9 had implemented this ten years ago. Is there an add on that would create them? Thanks

I have version 2.2 installed for P3Dv5 and I've mostly been able to figure the plane out except for one thing, the spoilers won't retract after being deployed. I tried the normal way I use and have it bound to a lever on my Logitech throttle quandrant and I also tried using the default key but once deployed, the spoiler lever won't move back down. I also tried using the mouse by clicking and dragging it and this actually seems to get it to move a bit but only a little. I see there are detents on the throttle at 10, 20 and 30 degrees but I can't get the lever to move back into any of them let alone all the way back down. Is there some other way to get it back down? Hi, I've always used REX Skyforce for both FSX and P3Dv5 and I was just wondering if AS16 with ASCA is better or if Skyforce is better? I'm new to P3D, I've been using FSX for ages and finally decided to try P3D and I notice a lot of people saying they use AS16 and ASCA for P3D so it got me curious to want to try it. I want to know is it worth the switch? I appreciate anyone's feedback, thanks.

So I know this is only going to get better when my 4090 arrives the end of this week but I am extremely pleased at the moment. Even without DLSS the raw HW gains of the 4090 could be enough to push my setup to a near constant 60FPS. Background: I have a 12700K with a 3080. Despite FPS being fine the overall performance of P3D wasn't great. Ground Textures popping in/out as they sharpened for example, object popping in and out as I panned, textures taking too long to load etc. This week I changed a couple of things. Hello -- I'm using ENVPLUS / ASP3D / ASCA / SF3D with EA set to "ON" and Volumetric Clouds "OFF" with a 4K UHD display, HDR in Windows Display Settings is "ON." Okay, who on earth can I pay some good money to for a high quality KDAL scenery for P3D??? Seriously lacking in this area. Anybody? Also GEG, COS, BOI, and OAK are lacking some well deserved attention as well. If anybody knows where to find them I would greatly appreciate it!

I have just noticed that I seem to have a mesh problem with Orbx EGPB Sumburgh. I have it installed in P3Dv4 together with Orbx TrueEarth GB North, and it seems like the high resolution terrain mesh is not being displayed. The headland to the north west of the airport looks very blocky, and the rocky areas on the coast in this area are all flat as a pancake. I have the terrain mesh resolution set to 5 metres, but even setting it to 1 metre makes no difference whatsoever. I am using the flat (AI) airport option. Can anyone help? I do not recall having this problem in the past. EDIT: I also have the PlayHorizon 5 metre terrain mesh installed.

I have had UK2000 Prestwick Xtreme installed in P3D for years, I beta tested it before it was released, and I have made hundreds of flights to and from the airport.......and yet today is the first time that I have noticed that runway 03/21 is missing the PAPI lights. An easy fix in Airport Design Editor, but a surprising discovery all the same. The tweaking game never gets old

Hello, I'm running P3Dv5.3 with three 4K UHD displays, NVidia settings at 12 bits per pixel at full dynamic range (0-255) and HDR set to ON in Windows 10 display settings. I'm using ASP3D / ASCA / ENVDIR / SF3D for weather and (4096 x 4096) clouds with Enhanced Atmospherics set to ON and Volumetric Clouds OFF. I prefer the legacy clouds as they look more realistic, but I'm having problems with color banding and too dark nights, and I don't know what to adjust. 12 bpp prevents (most of) the horrible color banding I was getting during the day, but nights are too dark. Lower resolutions (1440p and 1080p) also have weird colors and more banding, especially at night. …

Hi, I do have EZDok V2 and ChasePlane. Recently I reinstalled P3D V4 and decided to switch to CP (was long time EZDok user) Currently I'm in the tedious process of defining views for all my aircraft and that is going to take a while. In the mean time, EZDok V3 has been released and now I'm considering to switch back to EZDok (and consequently start the view defining process all over again) Therefor I would like to know what your initial thoughts are about EZDok V3? Is it better then V2 (and CP)? I'm aware that I can upgrade for a relative cheap price to V3 but I don't want to discover that after I have installed/configured it, CP still is the better choi…

I screwed up and, in trying to undo a scenery issue I created, uninstalled the NA region from my MAIW Matrix installation. I had completely forgotten that they had abandoned that and that the download server was no longer available to reinstall the region. I know it's a big ask, but can anyone that has that installed zip up just the NA region and send to me or allow me to download? I would greatly appreciate it. I really miss my military AI especially at places like Charleston. It would be a nightmare to have to reinstall that all by hand from their site. Thanks! Eric

I already had Envshade and added Envplus. I don't see how the two work together. For example, with just Envshade running I'll set Aircraft Shadows to very low. When I use the slider to enable Envplus, aircraft shadows shows '1'. What does the 1 represent and how is that related to the 'very low' setting with just Envshade? Thanks, Mark

Hello, (Screenshots included below) I just reinstalled AIG Traffic controller on my new computer and when I went to change up the settings some weird things started happening. To start, it appears the OIC file location is locked into the previous location of the OIC on my last computer. I do not even have a "D Drive" on my current computer. Furthermore, when I go to update the Airport XML and the AIGFP directories the file explorer opens to a blank screen with the only option being "desktop". If I click on desktop the page remains the same. I have already tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it. Does anyone have any ideas? Thank y'all so much! Have a great day! …

Good afternoon, I’m looking for a Boeing 727 for P3Dv4. I know captain sim has three variants of the 727, but they’re only compatible with v3. Are there any free or payware versions available? The other option is to take an AI version that works in v4 and make it flyable. Though I have no idea how to do that or if it’s even possible. Thanks, colin

So today I decided to give HDR a try in P3Dv5.3. Not talking about the HDR toggle in the sim. And quite honestly I am blown away. So here are the details What you need : 1)Windows 11 2)HDR capable display (atleast 800 nits). Preferably a QLED/OLED 3)HDR Calibration App ( https://apps.microsoft.com/store/detail/windows-hdr-calibration/9N7F2SM5D1LR ) Steps: So first turn on HDR in windows. Then launch the HDR Calibration app and start calibrating the display. It's actually very simple. In the last step, set your saturation to somewhere between 40 and 60. This is very important.
