Just did a test flight using all my Saitek hardware (have all except the individual gauges), and I must say it was even better than what I expected. I did the following: 1. Installed FSX-to-P3D Migration Tool (little payware add-on, worth it IMHO). 2. I left this program "ON" before installing SPAD. You are to turn ON when installing stuff to P3D and turn it OFF when using or installing to FSX. 3. I left my original FSX SPAD install all intact. So when I installed SPAD for a 2nd time I called the install folder 'SPAD P3D' (my FSX folder is just 'SPAD'). 4. Installed without an issue. 5. I copied over my default BIP ini file over to the SPAD P3D so I would not …

I am considering buying Skagit Regional airport, as my first Orbx airport. I have read that it can be somewhat of a system hog? How easy is it to uninstall Orbx airports?

I finally have FSX and P3D running smoothly side by side. I see the great potential of P3D and envision it getting better as time goes on. However, I have been trying out some sceneries in P3D, only to be shocked at finding that some sceneries that work great in FSX fps-wise do not work so great in P3D. Obviously there must be a difference in the programming. I am not going to name names due to the discomfort over EULAs. However, it seems that the sceneries that are sanctioned for P3D do seem just fine (FSDT, ORBX, Aerosoft, TropicalSim for example). I installed couple of well known sceneries by other companies only to be dismayed by a drop in fps in those sceneries in P3…

I buy CRJ NextGen and everything is ok but i have one small problem. how do you get the wilco crj cockpit to cold and dark? I read the manual and nothing. One solution is starting a flight and turning off the engine, battery etc and then save. tks

I got a tip off that this is a good performer in Prepar3D and it certainly is. A real fun aircraft to fly and a good learning experience for a computer pilot like me.

Is it possible to have a "WoW" moment slowly creep up on you rather than a instant "WoW? That's what I think I am seeing here or should I say feeling here. After reading many threads at different P3D forums out there I "Prepar3D" myself (pun intended!), NOT to expect much difference between FSX and P3D. If anything, since P3D would be maybe a little bit of a let down as it would be in strictly default mode. And at first, this is what I was sort of feeling. I had no tweaks set. Just see how it runs out-of-the-box. And I was not disappointed. Sure, if I stare at my FPS I was seeing relatively the same. And I did see a few "artifacts" popping up when I was in t…

Hi, Trying to make SB4 work with Prepar3d without success. 1. Install option (Will run FS) on sim computer. 2. Install option (Will run SB4) on remote PC. 3. Run FSX vis Simmconnect option on remote PC. Get an error Simmconnect is not running. Maybe somebody can explain in more details how to run to make VATSIM work. Thanks for help, Denis

Hello, After many frustrating years with FSX I am looking at the very attractive $50 academic license. Just a few questions for it. Does it provide the same performance and stability increases as the professional one and as a percentage how many of your products from FSX now work on Prepar3D as well? Thanks,

Hi, I installed P3D v1.4 at the beginning of this week. Have to say that I am not seeing much difference in performance yet to FSX, but then I haven't done much in the way of tweaking and testing, so I am confident I can improve things. I've been following the debate about whether to remove FSX or not from the computer with great interest, and wonder what you guys think is the best way to go. What concerns me if I do remove FSX is...can I reinstall it again at a later time, or on a new pc if I should upgrade? The reason I ask is that I've seen quite a number of posts on various forums from members who have not been able to reactivate a fresh install of FSX bec…

Moving from FSX to P3D forces me to look at each add-on, and determine which will work and which won't. As I believe P3D will ultimately become the sim most FSX users migrate to, I can't help notice the companies that are doing it right, and those making a big mistake. Take FSDT, for example. I have every add-on airport from them, and they make top-quality products. What is their position on P3D? They have updated their installers so it detects if you have P3D, and then installs accordingly. If you bought their airports and previously activated them in FSX, everything works perfectly in P3D. And you can use the same airports in either sim. This is exactly the response…

Anyone got the FSX version of FSFlyingSchool Pro to work in P3D? I see they sell a separate (?) version for P3D so I guess that might be a good indication that it will not work? Thanks, gb.

You are all invited to Mr. FSX's funeral this Saturday  Rest in Peace FSX.......Ben Cap, Word Not Allowed and many others were right......Prepar3D is a better and more stable FSX, Bravo to the Dev Team at Lockheed Martin :clapping: :drinks: and the textures and autogen looks awesome!

I asked this question over in the P3D forum but got the stereotypical "we cant answer that because we do not support 3rd party addons" blah blah blah.... Hopefully someone can tell me the answer to this... During install of a certain addon ( we'll just use XXXX as an example)... The auto installer brings up the main install page then directs you to where you want to install the files... ...program files x86/microsoft games/FSX and so on... Are the installs the same into P3D? but located in the x86/lockheedmartin folder? I guess Im asking if you just change the directory to the lockheed folder, will it install with no hang ups or do you have to have an active cop…

I know we can add some heavies with tweaks but i mean a real legit payware addon like for example: the new Wilco CRJ Version2. Today Xplane10 released a 777 Payware addon that is exactly or maybe better than what FSX has or will receive in the next few months.

I posted the following error in the Prepar3D forums but haven't gotten any feedback yet. Summary: When at Auckland Intl or Armdore Airport in New Zealand (there may be more) the ATIS comes on immediately after takeoff with default aircraft and scenery. I haven't found a way to turn it off using the aircraft's radios. Steps to Reproduce: No special setups, just get the Mooney or Maule at Auckland Intl or Armdore Airport. Start the plane and takeoff. Once on takeoff, the ATIS kicks on and won't turn off. Configuration: Prepar3D 1.4 Windows 7-64b Default scenery Default aircraft Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

I have now made the commitment to P3D and I am having great results, ( my thanks to Lockheed Martin). Regretably my trusty CH Yoke controller after many tears of use , is in need of replacement. I would love to hear what controllers other P3D pilots use ? Most of my flying is "low and slow" bush type scenery Orbx atc. I have Win.7 64 bit on a mid to upperend system and P3D ver. 1,4 I am looking for something that does not take a software expert to install and tune ( calibrate). Any reccomendations or comments would be gratefully appreciated. Dave

Hi Guys I bought prepar3d yesterday and simulation it's much better than FSX for sure. However the performance is the same for not saying worst in some cases (tested with PMDG in Mallorca X) I really was expecting something else. While flying I've seen that water textures at minumum settings looks like in FSX at 2.0 and I have it on 1.0 high on FSX, I think if I could decrease quality of water on prepar3d then I'll get better performance than on FSX, anyone knows how to modify it on .cfg?? any help is welcome! My cpu is a Q9300 at 2.88GHZ if anyone is wondering. Daniel

I am ecstatic. I have now flown for 200 hours in v1.4 without a single CTD that could be blamed on Prepar3D. All in Orbx scenery with sliders hard right, MyTraffic 3D full on. Active Sky 2012 and Plan-G. Mainly PAD aircraft plus the packaged default. Only one CTD, in the very dense Orbx scenery area near Melbourne, which the staff over Orbx are looking into. Although my rig is high end it is not overclocked, the passing scenery is as smooth as satin and a joy to behold. PS: I am old and disabled which is why I can clock up these sort of hours and am looking forward to hundreds more. Many thanks to LM and to the many people who have provided advice hints and tweaks…

I see that the FSX aircraft Prepar3D includes in the stock installation are the Baron 58, King Air 350, CRJ700, Maule, Mooney Bravo, Piper Cub and R-22. Are those aircraft just ported from FSX or have they received any improvements, especially in the flight dynamics? I'd expect better flight dynamics from Prepar3D since it's a training product.
