One thing I couldn't help but notice with version 1.4.. Every single launch now I get the completing setup dialog zipping by real fast.. This was never the case in version 1.3.. Just for peace of mind is this also happening with everyone else?

I must have missed something. Word Not Allowed has a great post on settings and such comparing FSX and P3D....I can't find it anymore, what happened? Anyone?

Hi everyone, Thanks for all of your help. I am now proud to announce that I am a full member of the P3D 'family'! This is vastly superior to FSX in just about everything. My FPS are through the roof! I am loving this!! Thanks so much for everyone's support and help. This is a game-changer for me.. More people need to get on this sim! I think that if we can get out some serious benchmarks, they will speak for themselves to the rest of the community. :Big Grin:

Hi, After an entire day of configuring and testing P3D, I have to say that I am very happy with the results. Overall, the sim feels very smooth, has much better performance and offers other features that beat it's older brother, FSX. Now to the question. - Would it be feasible for me to uninstall FSX and make a full transition to P3D at this point? - If so, what 'porting' tool do I need to use so all of my addons will install correctly? I don't think I am going to be able to go back to FSX lol

Just ordered it. Downloading an ungodly amount of data at the moment. Waiting for the wife to ask me ##### happened to our internet. So...where do I begin? Do I deactivate my addons (such as FSDT, FlightBeam, FlyTampa, etc.? Or just until FSX? Srdan and Ben, I am holding both of you responsible. lol

Hi All, Please correct me if I am wrong. If I return the FSX to Prepar3D Migration Tool to "Disable Virtual FSX" I can then uninstall FSX. After uninstall I then return to "Enable Virtual FSX" in order to install products? Is that correct? Thanks, Craig

Well, I've installed the new 1.4 academic version and I'm on my way to switching over from FSX. I have a small question, there are aircraft in the sim objects folder that do not appear in the aircraft menu in the sim. I am very curious if there's an explanation for that? One small complaint is the whole ATC window thing and the way it blocks and pauses the sim, but I have feeling that will get better down the road. Lee

Hi Everyone, I've been doing some reading in regards to Alpha Channels, MIP Maps and non DXT3/DXT1 files. I've been looking into the possible problems associated with the use of non DXT3/DXT1 format and the lack of an Alpha channel, such as FPS Loss and/or studders and the ability to reduce and/or eliminate these problems by converting them (Image Tool and DXTBmp) to dxt3/dxt1 and adding an alpha channel. Anyone venture into this with P3D?, if so can you report on an approximate time frame (I know the time frame will vary depending on installed items) required to take on a task such as this, programs used to convert the offending files (such as Image Tool, DXTBM…

So, finally, after the release of P3D 1.4, I got me a copy of this most interesting simulator. I also got me the FSX to P3D migration tool. Now time to install some favorite add-ons and go flying. But, here's my question - What is the stock mesh they use? Is it the same as FSX, or anything better? Do I need to install my good old mesh from FSGenesis to have a correct mesh? Or What? /Torbjörn Kuntze

When I point to FSX's scenery files for UTX I get all the implementations BUT water is covered over with landclass. I do have the exclusion part there. Also copied over the 2 large texture folders of concern Im not that concerned yet as I only use the USA-Lighting for ORBX-stuff Did not copy the terrain file over I suspect I should purchase the FSX TO PREPAR3D MIGRATION TOOL ? Any ideas?

I have installed this into P3D and was trying to install it into FSX also (P3D and FSX on the same drive). I was hoping FSX would use the same files (FSGUX directory), but the install started to overwrite the directory. Is this okay? Would P3D still work? Cheers

Hi Everyone, Is it me or did they fix the outer (three monitor setup) monitor fisheye effect?. My outside monitors don't have that stretched out look, so far I'm loving the new version. I just noticed that the PMDG is able to powerback, was this available in 1.3 and is it available in FSX?. I thought that option was disabled, maybe I'm wrong.

I managed to install the md11 in P3D v1.2 without problems. I also managed to install md11 in 1.4 by using fsx reg utility, but when I try to load the md11 I now get "A fatal error occurred" and get the following log if I check the problem details. I've done some googling but can't find a definite answer. The majority of possible solutions I find are for fsx and not P3D. Does one know how to get this working? any help would be appreciated Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: Prepar3D.exe Application Version: 1.4.4747.0 Application Timestamp: 50253a53 Fault Module Name: PMDG_MD11_ACS.DLL Fault Module Version: 10.0.61355.62 Fault …

I have run P3D Academic some on my machine that I use heavily for FSX and it runs well...have moved a few aircraft over with migration tool. I am now looking at the update to 1.4, but it appears on LMCO's website f ro P3D and in their forums that one should uninstall P3d 1.3 then download and install 1.4 and move your add-ons again? What? If I recall the download was like 9GB,,,,I can deal with that but really??I have to obliterate what I got running well on 1.3??? Anyone tried just installing 1.4 over top?

After couple of days of tinkering and comparisons, I went ahead and did a simple compare due to new tinting to see what is different. Installed FSUIPC, EZCA, FSForce, FSGlobal, UTX, GEX, CorfuX, REX-E with the same textures in both sims, Shade with the same settings in both. Not much of a difference though, whites are a bit whiter, whole pictures is a bit brighter, and water is bluer - which I don't really understand why though. Lower FPS in P3D? Yeah... Here we go: FSX P3D

In an effort to try to get my add-ons working (AivlaSoft EFB, FSInn) I have renamed the p3d executable to FSX.exe. This works well as long as I do not change aircraft. However, as soon as a traitor changed any other aircraft than what I load with default, p3d crashes. Does anyone else experience this, and more importantly, does anyone have a solution?
