PMDG 737NGX | 737NGXu

  1. Started by tomcjones,

I use the flight planner program AivlaSoft to make flight plans. With this flight planner i have the capability to specify the landing runway. When I load the plan into the 737NGX FMC and look at all the waypoints the landing runway is shown, for example RW26. If I open the APPROACH page in the FMC there will be no frequency/heading and no GS On or Off selection. When I fly the plan and on the final approach to RW26 the GS bug starts down and just goes right on by the center position and does no lock on and I do a manual landing. I have found that I must specify the landing runway within the FMC ir order for the frequency/heading and GS On or Off option to be available. I…

I looked around but couldn't find any of the dozen or so posts I planned to post this on so had to start this new topic.I still haven't had time to really get behind the NGX or any simming for that matter, and won't for at least another month. I've been asked lots of paint questions since the NGX release and some things just didn't make sense so had to buy. I would have earlier but being out of work means I need to at least attempt to be responsible (so much for that). I've had it fired up several times in the last two week but honestly just to test paint questions/issues (yes, when I test paints I have one thing on my mind and am outside ASAP). Anywho, just thought I'd l…

Wow! I just took on the Gatwick tutorial. Apart from taking about 45 minutes to set up the FMC I still made a bags of it. My climb speed didn't engage ( got stuck at 165Kts) and I flew straight passed a way point. Still though I appreciate the learning curve. I can see that learning to program the FMC is a mighty task in itself and probably requires some quality training. I'll probably have to take the Angle of Attack training package to get the most out of this beast.

  7. Hello I try to do the tutorial flight and followed every step as written down. Takeoff is no problem, but from the start on I realized that the altitude readouts in the pfd of the 1st and 2nd FO vary to a great extent. You can see this when you compare the attached pictures, which are taken from the 1st and 2nd FO point of view at the same time in flight. The other thing that happened e v e r y time is, that after 10000 ft (1st officer's readout) the plane slows considerably and the climb rate drops dramatically. A short while thereafter you can see the fmc recalculate and tell "unable crz altitude" (see attached photos). (Notice also the vast difference in the altitu…

Hi, I have followed through everything in the Introductory manual and advice from other threads in this forum, however am still having quite a big problem. Upon loading up the NGX, all is fine. All the systems work well as expected and the flight progresses without any problems. However, within about 5-10mins of this, the engine cowling and tail-fin textures disappear and are just grey or black, and then the digital displays inside the cockpit freeze within 1-2mins of this occurring. The plane is still "running" so to speak... the engines are still running and the plane is still flying, but no further inputs are recognised by the plane. Very shortly after this, an error m…

  12. Hi,I just started flying on IVAO. I have been experiencing several crashes so far, but they do not always happen. I use the IVAP software. I do not have an headset and pretty much have the window open the whole time. Today for example, I was doing a flight from EHRD to LEIB. Everything went really well. Until I was on final approach in LEIB. I pressed CTRL+F9 to hide the IVAP window, and FSX crashed. Normally I'm never experiencing any crashes or freezes whatsoever. This only happens on IVAP with the NGX. All of these crashes happened when trying to display/hide the IVAP window (CTRL+F9).Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!EDIT: I already have all I kinds of f…

Hello all,I am probably missing something can't figure out what. Here it goes:After passing 18000 ft, I press on STD and the alt gets reset to 29.92 as it should. I manually reset the standby one to same. When flying on VATSIM I get reports of being off by 2-400 ft from declared cruising altitude. If I press "B" to reset it via FSX the barometer becomes 30-something and after descending a few hundred feet I get to the "real" flight level.I would rather use the NGX controlls and not see 30.25 at FL360... What am I missing? Thanks

Dear forum users, one question that I have a hard time to find a good answer to:What category (A, B, C, D) aircraft are the different versions of the 737NG?What about the versions flying with the short field package? Is the category a fixed aircraft property or does it depend on the final approach speed of the acctual configuration the aircraft is in?Many thanks for your answers. All the best,Ingo(Sorry, I can't afford the luxary to sign with my real life identity.)

  17. I had an incident last night with the amazing NGX, which is my first “freeze” in FSX with the NGX that I can recall. A freshly booted PC with the NGX being the first (and only) aircraft to load from a saved state at “ready to take off” on KORD’s 09L. In the climb to cruise on the way to KJFK, I was heads down on the CDU inputting new information on the LEGS page to do with my intended arrival (I have a camera designed for this that is a close-up on the CDU and doesn’t include any outside view). The first thing I noted was that I would press a CDU number key and I was getting double input, so “9” became “99”. Shortly after in trying to correct (using CLR) for one of th…

I have a question about the driftdown phase after an engine failure. After performing the engine shutdown items as described in the QRH, the driftdown phase commences.I select the cruise page on the CDU. I select ENG OUT >then RT ENG OUT>the text highlights, Also the maximum altitude displays and the max cont n1.I'm not shure, but I expected the [exe] button would be available at this moment, but it isn't.Am I following the correct procedure or is something wrong with the FMS?I can't find anything about this topic on the forum or in the manuals.Best regards,Rico

I downloaded and installed several livery repaints from the PMDG site using the livery manager. As far as I can tell, they installed correctly. I can see them in the installed liveries section but I cannot select them from within FSX. All it shows are the default PMDG liveries. Any suggestions on how to actually get them to load within FSX? Pic shows what I see within the livery manager.

  23. Hi to all, as title says is it possible to update payload and fuel with TOPCAT? I think no.I tried to do it, I used in TOPCAT the "Send" function (TOPCAT updates weights via FSUIPC in FSX). A single red line in FSX shows me that payload and fuel was updated! but it wasn't true. Payload and fuel was the same also after TOPCAT updates weights.I know that in the PMDG introduction manual is specified that no one external addon has to be used for payload and fuel, but only do it via CDU.Now, as TOPCAT modifies aircraft.cfg of 737, maybe I have corrupt this file? in your opinion is it better to reinstall the aircraft to have aircraft.cfg file as in a new fresh install? Many than…

  25. Good day fellow simmers, above mentioned keys are mapped to view-cycles by default. Even when pressing the tab-key to bring those letters in the CDU-scratchpad it is resulting in a view-change. Hitting the clickspots with the mouse is fine.I'm able to map the view-changes via FSUIPC to another keystrokes (ö /ä) but (a / s) ist still there. Any idea how to proceed? Thanks in advance,Wolfgang Kühn
