Hi guys,Hopefully someone can help. I havent flown the JS41 for a few months and decided to do a quick flight from EGLC when I noticed that the VC was flickering. I've flown the JS41 many a time before but never had this issue. It was as if there was a transparent wall within the cockpit of which I could see the edges of. Please advise.Thanks.

Any chance we will see a J41 Cargo variant?I have read that some companies have cleared out all seats to prepare some of their J41s as cargo carriers only.

Recently my JS41 does not lock on the ILS at all. Previously there were times when the Glidepath was ok but the Glideslope didn't engage. Now, neither will lock on. Both Nav1 and Nav2 are set to the correct frequency and Nav2 gauge is totally accurate. I used it to get on glideslope/glidepath then tried to engage the APPR for Autopilot but no joy. Once nearing destination I switch out of LNAV for controllers directions, sett in the ILS freq and set the course bug to runway heading..I must be doing something wrong with Nav1 settings but cannot figure out what it is. Will someone walk me through the details?ThanksNeal Howard

Can someone advise how to change the cfg file to have the overhead panel of the J41 work with eg shift+6 key? I find it frustrating having to hit the "a" key x times to move from the vc view to the overhead.thanks Mel

Hi expert simmers, I need to know how you guys “navigate” around your virtual cockpits such as the VC found on the PMDG JS41. I purchased one of those. It runs well but I admit I am more familiar with 2D cockpits. I seem to have difficulties with “going around” in my cockpit without losing track of essential views such as taking off, descent preparation and landing. Going from my FMS (I am aware of 2D popups) to the pitch wheel/control, to the flight director and so on makes things difficult in keeping a general view of what’s going on in the performance of the aircraft. So if someone can teach me tips and tricks on “manipulating” this cockpit, I would dearly appreciate.…

Hi, friendsI'm now making a big Lua script to control JS41 with VRi MCP Combo. Script is based on what Guenter (guenseli) already have done, but it's far more advanced and flexible, especialy in working with MCP knobs. Our discussion with Guenter and current results can be found here: reworked PMDG J41 LUA Script. In short, advantages of the new script are:- Dual-mode knobs. One MCP knob controls 2 different functions. For ex., MCP CTR controls both BRG rotaries in JS41, MCP TFC controls flightplan zoom and display's brightness. And so on.- Many useful infos are now shown on mcp display. For ex. when you rotate MCP Baro knob, display shows current pressure set. Same for de…

I have the strangest problem with the j41 in FSX...whenever I load the plane from either the FSX main screen or switching planes from inside the sim I get blasted with the sound of turbine engines spinning down that lasts for about two seconds and then everything sounds normal. The sound is abnormally loud.I searched this forum and found several posts from people complaining about loud engine noise in the cockpit during flight but this only happens when the plane is first loaded...afterwards everything sounds great.Any ideas on how to fix this?

I have had the Jetstream since it was released, and fly it very regularly, which makes my recent double issue a strange problem of which I have been unable to diagnose. Recently I have had two DUAL engine flameouts. No warnings, engine's were normal, plenty of fuel and no smoke or flames that signal a catastrophic failure. One was at 4000ft, and I had been there for a few minutes doing a high power cruise. The second was on takeoff, at about 60kts both engines quit. Both incidents took place in the Scottish Highlands, and I was able to normally restart the engines after the second incident without a problem (fuel pumps on, start master to right, feather the props and the …

Greenbrier Virtual Aviation is a small airline that until now has specialized in general aviation. Recently they launch their scheduled service to major reginal hubs in the West Virginia and near by states. We are using PMDG's B1900D for this part of the business, and we have come up with two livery paint scheme. One livery was created with an all aluminum fuselage, and the other is 2/3 white and 1/3 aluminum. I finish the repaints yesterday, and here is a small video on what they look like. http://youtu.be/lcMf9K8k2_k?hd=1

Occasionally I run into a strange issue when I switch to IAS mode during climb phase. Typically, I am not trimmed our right and I am above or below optimal climb speed (170 knots). So my regular practice is to select the NAV capture, Alt Capture and the IAS buttons on the FCC then adjust the pitch wheel to 170. The flight director fires up and shows an adjustment to capture this speed. At that time I will turn on the AP and the aircraft will make small adjustments to capture. However, if I have my climb set up right to begin with, trimmed out at ~170 when I initialize the IAS mode on the FCC, 170 is already showing as the set speed in the EADI. So I click on the AP and FD…

I was preparing a flight from Anchorage to Dutch Harbor in my J41, and I was a little too close to the gate after engine start, so I decided to slew the aircraft back so I could turn it around. After pressing 'y' to disengage slew mode in FSX, both my engines shut down! And with them, the FMS. Incredibly annoying! Now I have to wait for the engines to cool down before restarting them (having to go through parts of the checklist again), and I have to turn the FMS back on and enter my flight plan all over again .Is this a bug in the J41??

After a year struggling with the problem I finally found a solution. Whenever I was selecting the acft in the Free Flight menu and clicked Fly Now, FSX was crashing to desktop. The solution was to wipe the contents of the PMDG flightplans folder under: Microsoft Flight Simulator X/PMDG/FLIGHTPLANSIt appears that, for an unknown reason, during the initialization the FMS reads all the routes stored into that folder. Some older route files are not compatible with the JS41.Thanks to Evan Vaos for spending almost 10 hrs with me trying to figure out the problem. Great support from PMDG.

Up to now I've always been flying 2-D cockpits. Now I'm trying to get to grips with the JS41 cockpit but so far I'm hating it. Don't get me wrong, the cockpit looks great but I never seem to know where my head is in relation to the cockpit, I mean, there's only one view forward that a pilot has, he doesn't move his head sideways or forward or up and down also because it would spoil his perception of the outside world and the angles for example when approaching a runway. A solution seems to be to only use the hat-switch on my yoke but that never centers accurately and the view of for example the overhead is so distorted you can't even see the switches.I don't want to use t…

Dear J41 fans,There are still a number of features described in the wonderful PMDG J41 I can't find or make function. Some helpful sim friends have kindly given me the theoretical answer to some of these in the past, but no one has told me these features actually function on our PMDG model ...1. The TEST feature for the AHRS. Where exactly are "positions 1 and 2" to be found in order to ensure that the AHRS TEST button actually works?2. Can one set up a joystick (e.g. Cyborg X) to make manual trim adjustments?3. The AOM mentions using a Touch Control Steering button (TCS button) to adjust trim in the climbout. Where exactly is this to be found and does it work on our J…

Can you advise on the following anomaly: i set the fuel load using the default FSX fuel when I look at the fuel gauges they ALWAYS show 1471 for each side??setting fuel at say 35% for each tank = 400kg*2=800kg *2.20462=1763lbs. Each gauge should show 881lbs but continue to show 1471?thanksMel
