Hi,Trying to get ATIS at 66 nm before destination airport.As per advanced tutorial page 33, I set the ATIS frequency into VHF2 of COM2, switch it on the activate field but where is the volume control panel? Is it the panel right below the frequencies?I press this also to VHF2, white light appears on it, but still can not receive ATIS from 66 nm distance. I receive ATIS only when reaching about 44 nm from airport.Am I doing something wrong?Thanks,Christos

    the two images above should tell that there is a serious problem with the MD-11 AFS. After takeoff I engage the Autoflight System and set NAV + FMS speed + PROF. What happens is that the a/c pitches up too much lowering the speed on the PFD to the yellow region thus engaging the "Lo speed" protection system. The NAV system is not working either as the a/c drifts away from the magenta line. I tried too many different scenarios and even unistalled/reinstalled the MD-11. However the same problem is occuring. What's weird is that I owned the MD-11 since its birthday and never experienced this type of problem before until two days ago. any clue?

    Hi all,Some help please on a question regarding the approach phase using VNAV.While descending, on VNAV mode, deploying a flap setting causes the speed to drop very much (as seen in the magenda indication in the PFD) and does not match the indicated FMC speeds. Noted that flaps are deployed within their operating speeds.Why is the speed lowering and does not follow the FMC indicated speeds?Thanks,Christos

    Would you real-life MD-11 pilots consider this a pretty good program to learn aircraft systems etc? I have watched many youtube videos, and have noticed that the cockpit sounds alone are almost exact to the real thing, systems are delicately simulated etc. I am an up and coming pilot with aspirations for flying the MD-11 someday and want to learn as much as possible before I go up for an interview or a type-rating. Also, if I put myself through a type rating course, what is the approximate cost (good luck finding that info out online)? I have tested them for FSX, but am not able to for FS9. I didn't want to leave out FS9 users so took a stab at them also.     My problem with the FS9 version of the MD11 is that the gauges` update rate is rather lower than with the PMDG queen. Maybe the same as with the "old" 737NG. I got them all from PMDG, all for FS9 but the slider that should allow to alter the update rate (I only use the VC-panel) has no effect. A fresh new reinstall didn`t help either.Please don`t tell me now that the update rate is as limited as it appears actually.

    Hey folksI seem to encounter a problem at the end of most flights and i'm hoping you may be able to help me!When i take over from the auto-pilot to hand-fly an approach, the only way i can find to disconnect the auto-throttle is to throw the 2 AFS switches on the MCD. This makes a red box flash around the auto-pilot status next to the artificial horizon, I can now command the throttle and land the aircraft.I then don't seem to be able to re-set this ready for my next flight. I've re-cycled the 2 switches back so you can't see the red/black lines anymore but the flashing red box seems to stay.Am i turning the auto-throttles off incorrectly?Thanks in advance for your help!J…

    Well, I've tried "6 ways to Sunday" to get this tutorial to work properly but so far to no avail.Here's what happens. I've downloaded all the data and had no problems. Placed all of the elements in the areas as per the readme (I do have the updated version for FS X).Started Simulator, selected an A.A. MD 11 and loaded program. Started load manager as per manual, again no problems so far. Since I have the Dream Team KORD I loaded the Advanced Tutorial FSDT as per manual. Here's where problems begin.     Hey there,I am very intrested in buying the PMDG MD-11 for FS9, I currently own the PMDG 737NG Series and the PMDG 747 and I love both...My only concern is I am not a Virtual Cockpit person...It causes bad FPS etc etc...I was curious if the MD-11 has an option like past products for choosing the 2D panel with the wingviews..or is this model just one that comes with the VC regardless...Let me know guys!ThanksCraig Galka

    This just started happening (I think) after installing a repaint off of the PMDG website EVA MD11F, my landing and taxi lights don't work, but if I turn on the PNL Floods, the taxi and landing lights come on however only one of the landing lights the other one does not extend or come on. I use fs2crew aswell, but I have been using both for months no with no problems, infact I just did a flight last night things were fine, I installed the EVA classic repaint today and now all these light problems. Anyone have a suggestion, I really don't want to do a complete install of the MD11. PS FSX version

    Windows 7 x64, FSX SP2 -> all the lights of my MD11 are only visible, when I turn on the "wing turning lights" ... why is that? ... by the way, I also noticed the problem with the taxi info that is not shown ... is this problem also related to DX10??

    Hi !I have read some of the posts here regarding saved flights problems.My case is this:The result is that whenever i load a saved flights i get the plane where it should be BUT everything else is messed up. It appears with some system working.I have tried:-Just saving the flights-Saving the flight and immediately export the panel state to this flight.-Restarting FS9 and then loading the flight-Starting close to the point that i have saved with default aircraft and then loading the flight-Starting close to the saved position and loaded MD-11 BEFORE i load the flight.I cant seem to get it working to restart my flights.It works like a charm with PMDG 747 and LevelD...I have…

    OK I just had to post this to see whats the deal and if anyone has this issue.On my MD11 (FS9 version)...when I am at cruise altitude just flying along...and the wind changes direction and/or speed (10 or more knots)...my indicated airspeed takes a huge drop!!! Example...Cruising FL350 wind is 100 @ 75...Same FL350 wind slowly shifts (in about 45 secs to 1 min) to 360 @ 100. During which time cruise speed goes from Mach .835 to hugging close to the yellow arc on the bottom of the indicator. The engines raise with full power and it makes it back up to Mach .835. There is no indication in angle of turbulence before anyone asks. Just smooth sailing other than the wind shift.…

    Hi There. I just got a new PC with Windows 7 as operating system. I got my "old" hard drive installed in the new machine which included my well worn FS 9. When I run the FS, my MD-11 turns up with black instruments, like there were no electricity at all, even when the engines are running. I guessed I would have to reinstall the MD-11, but by doing so, the installation were stopped, saying "you have to install SP1 for FS9 before you can continue". OK, I then wanted to do this, but by running the updating for SP1, I was told it was not necessary as it was already updated. So I can not install my MD-11, nor can I update FS 9, as it is already done. Anyone have a solution f…

    What is the correct procedure for retracting flaps after takeoff ?What I'm doing is setting T/O flaps on the dial-a-flap, then after blast-off when passing FR on the speed tape I press the yoke switch to bring the flaps in a notch and they come right back in one hit to just the slats. The plane hasn't dropped out of the sky yet but it has given me some interesting moments watching the speed tape so I guess I'm doing something very wrong - if I was a passenger I'd be asking the airline to pay to have my trousers drycleaned :-)Where am I going wrong ?ThanksGary

    A couple of questions before I purchase.Can the MD11 flights be saved while enroute? I purchased the Queen and I can save the flight during long routes, but I understand that it not true with the PMDG 737 package. Also, I notice that there is close to 1500 pages of documentation and two tutorials for the aircraft. If I purchase the aircraft, what sections of the manuals gives me the most bang/most needed without killing my printer? I know that they offer preprinted documentation, but the cost appears to be a little steep for my budget.ThanksTom
