PMDG MD-11 (Legacy Version)

After making flightplans with FSBuild I noticed that the MCDU showedentries like : CF45CF23INTCPT I was under the impression that waypoints can only have 3 or 5 letters.3 for VOR,5 for waypoints.Am I wrong and why ? Thank you Hubert Werni

I have read several times that the autopilot stays on even after touchdown so as to guide the craft down the centerline,however my autopilot on the MD-11 always disconnects just before touchdown approx 50-100 feet above the runway. Somewhere a long while ago I also read that if this happens something is not correct- I cannot find that reference and do not know what is incorrect- everything seems OK on the surface and all landings end up flawless. So?

I was wondering if the sounds used for the MD-11 (Both Engine Variants) were recorded from the actual aircraft?

Hi,I found that when landing the MD11 (FSX) in the 2D cockpit that the runway disappears under the panel on final approach. Are there any views available that allow the runway to be visible until touch down? Many thanks Thomas

Perusing Flightaware I have noticed that freight flights out of Anchorage are making 4500nm+ trips (ZSPD/VHHH/RCTP...etc) and I know that the MD-11F has some legs provided there is a cut in payload but does anyone have a rough idea numbers wise as to how much freight these aircraft are taking off with? After entering a flightplan and flying the route I obtain the message ( seeattached picture ) which I do not understand and especially what kind of actionsare required.What means the word DECEL and what is required ? Thanks for your help Hubert Werni

Hello everyone, while browsing the a.net photo database I came across nice pictures of KLM MD-11 cockpits (pity, copyright issues doesn't allowed links to airliners.net). A few pictures are showing the EAD with both the Primary and the Secondary Engine Display - but with the N1, EGT and N2 parameters not depicted with the semi-circular gauge we all know, but with a "box column" gauge like the 747-200,- 300 and -400 has (I hope everyone understands what I mean). Is this a company option for the MD-11? I've never seen this on any other MD-11 except these KLM ones... or is this just an updated software version with a more "Boeing-like" style? Greetings,Thomas

When during takeoff there appear letters on the speed tape that tell me at what speed to raise flaps etc. However just before landing there appear other letters on the tape in the same area I do not understand- SF,CE,F15. I presume F15 is telling me when to set flaps at 15,but what do the others signify? Carolyn D

I read the Swissair London-Zurich tutorial which I try to fly. Everything goes as described except when it comes to landing.Being on the Glide Slope the Green Box appears and I am supposed to get a green "Dual Land" indication and more.But for what ever reason it does not show,instead I get an indication APPR ONLY and this is the end of indications.No align,flare and what have you.Can anybody suggest what I missing and what I have to watch for ? What is the trick ?I greatly appreciate your help,especially from somebody having done that flight/procedure.ThanksHubert Werni

Hi everybody, just wondering - when I was browsing through my aircraft.cfg I found the entriesmodel=GE and model =GEb, both inside the passenger version's folder.What is the difference between those two? Model=PW vs Model=GE is pretty obvious but I wasn't aware that there's a difference within the GE versions.

OK this one took me a while to make. Mostly because I wasnt to sure how I would put it all to geather. But after 383 GB of video and 2 weeks of trial and error I have just finished uploading the MD11 flight from Boston to Atlanta. I was trying to be as complete as possible using what I had avalible, however its not 100%. But i think its pretty darn close to real as I could make it. There are 20 videos in total and I wouldn't expect many people to watch them all. So I have titled them accordingly. I am glad its over with now!!! Captains, I seem to have a problem with my FMC on certain flight plans. I use Flight Aware to get the route information I want and use that to create PMDG flight plans on Simroutes which has always worked for me. So I planned to go from JFK to Zurich and I when I insert that into the FMC, I got the "unable to load F-PLN" message in the scratchpad. Tried a new airport (KJFK-LSGG) and that didn't work. Then my flight from Sydney to Honolulu works. Any suggestions?

When flying at times I get a message that I can only land with a certain weight, usually I am above that weight- How do I handle that problem? Do I somehow need to dump some fuel and if so, how exactly is that handled on the control panel? Or are there other means to rectify the situation.Carolyn D

Hey guys, I had to format and reinstall a brand new FS9. After installing sceneries and my MD-11, i've tried to do a flight i as did so many times before. Therefore, i'm experience a problem i've never had before. When i'm flying, gear is going down by itself. I really don't know from where it comes and how to solve this. Now i can't fly anymore :-/ If you have any ideas... Thanks in advance, Nicolas

In FSX my MD-11 displays such as next waypoint in the route have somehow been corrupted. The letters/symbols look like the German A umlaut. The corrupted display also shows in the altimeter readout. I'm not sure what's going on; all was fine until about two weeks ago. Would changing the font size in Win 7 be the culprit? Running Win7 Professional 64 with i7 processor. i'd appreciate any assistance/suggestions.

Hello all,I'm experiencing a rather funny problem. Sitting in the cockpit either on the gate or on the runway while stationary, I hear a sound similar to the sound when the wheels are touching the runway during landing. This carries on every 5mins. I go external view and i see that the aircraft, during this sound, jumps slightly off the ground!I have the boxed version of MD-11X AND and my FSX is the Gold edition installed 2 days ago without any tweaks. Have just upgraded to a new W7 64 bit install and have loaded the files for the Advanced Tutorial for the MD11. When I load the tutorial there is no rain at KORD. All files are in the correct location.Any Idea how I can fix this. Thanks Andrew Dixon

hey simmers. ive been flying the MD11 for years, but since recently, i have a strange problem with my taxi lights and landing lights. when i turn them on, they dont fall right ahead of the aircraft, but way further on, on the taxiway/runway. I've started having this problem ever since i installed REX. I know that if i probably reinstall the aircraft, the problem would be fixed. but I just wanted to know if there's another way to deal with this, for example changing some values in the aircraft.cfg file? i have alot of liveries installed, so i dont want to uninstall all of them and then reinstall them. help anyone?

On my last couple of flights, after the MD-11 auto lands. When I start to taxi, the aircraft tries to turn to the left constantly.Retracting Flaps, turning off auto-brake and making sure the spoiler is not deployed doesn't make any difference. Overriding autopilot as a precautionary measure doesn't make a change either.There is no indication of faulty systems either.Has anyone else experienced this?

Strange........I tried to add on some scenery into my FSX only to find that my addon scenery folder is missing. So, well, I created the folder myself and the add on scenery displays correctly. However, the PMDG MD-11 no longer loads correctly as in the "loading airac database...." no longer shows up causing a messed up MD-11 when playing (screens black, yoke is turned sideways, no buttons are clickable and the initializing countdown won't appear) I have read that this has happened before with PMDG MD-11's but I have been unable to find a fix. What is going on as I would hate to have to reinstall the MD-11. ~Carl

Hello I have a problem in md-11 when I put full throttle it says "stabiliser stabiliser stabiliser..."

When flying at night i notice a strange texture that seems to be missing beside the landing gear handle. I can see the ground through it. I attached 2 pics, both pics are zoomed or resized so excuse the quality. Any ideas. Thanks Alan
