PMDG MD-11 (Legacy Version)

Hi, I was wondering this: I have been flying the 737NGX for a long time. But I recently went back to the MD-11 at little. I noticed, that the 737NGX has two very useful features on the ND, which help you in non-precision approaches (e.g. a VOR approach). Those features are the track line and the green banana on the ND. The track line is really useful for crosswind landings, if the track line points exactly on the runway on the ND, you know that you have the nose pointed in the right way. The green banana, which shows at which point the airplanes estimates you to reach the altitude you dialed in the FMC, is also very useful in VOR approaches. You just dial the runway elev…

Hi,I am having a stange problem and maybe somone can help, when I load the MD-11 cargo version I cannot get the 2D cockpit window view to be on top of the instrument view from PMDG (Main View Capitain Side). I use multi monitor and I always fly with the same configuration, I run a virtual view with my triplehead2go and I use the 2D panel view on a other monitor. All of this works find when I fly the passanger version, but I am unable to get the cockpit 2D window over the instrument window it stays in the back. So when I am sitting in the cockpit (2D) the view outside the plane windows is black, but if I resize the instrument view I can see the 2D window in the back. It is…

I just d/l the MD-11, but can't seem to locate any tutorials or checklists on how to start the engines from the different panel states provided by PMDG (i.e. Cold & Dark; Long Turn; Short Turn; etc). Anyone have anything like that? Thanks in advance!

First off I want to say that this is a fantastic aircraft and I am one of those guys that reads allot but for the life of me I cannot figure out what is going on when I first engage the autopilot and in the case where it is a vector departure and I set and pull the heading bug the airplane and flight director command the opposite direction. No matter how many times I set and pull the knob the airplane and command bars roll in the opposite direction. Now this only has happened 2 time so far, and then after a few minutes with a disconnected autopilot it will work fine. Is this a runway heading issue? Hi there,I was given the FSX edition of the MD-11 for Christmas (I've had the awesome FS9 one for ages) :) and remembered that ages ago I downloaded the McPhat freeware AA texture (don't know why), I installed it having become very excited by the pictures, but with the exception of the engines and vertical stabiliser, it only looks marginaly better than the default textures.I've attached pictures, first of the default paint, and then of the McPhat one (which is at a slightly different angle to show a beautiful engine).The reason I post this, is not because I doubt the quality of McPhat, but think something has gone wrong, I am also wondering how to re-download the livery,…

I was just browsing today the Free Add-Ons list and I clicked on MD11 just to see the liveries that PMDG put there. Why is Air Canada in the list!?! Isn't PMDG all about realism? I mean, in the NGX's liveries there is only real world liveries, and same to the 600/700 (except for EasyJet... but who cares?) I understand that Finnair or TAM had MD11s (as a matter of fact, Finnair was the launch customer) so that livery is ok, but, Air Canada? Really? Or USAirways... :(Anyway, just a thought.

Hello,well here i am with another kind of question: I was inserting airways in the FMS inside the "via" field but I found out that after inserting 5 airways, the FMS page did not scroll down for more entrances! I had to press the *INSERT button but what about the rest of the airways? I thought there are unlimited "via" fields. Now do i have to go to LAT REV again and carry on from the last airway?

can anyone assist me with this matter. I keep loosing textures after I select md-11 to fly from the drop down list. after changing several views from external to VC mode. I have an invisible airplane from the external view and internal all I see are a view knobs. this happens on several other aircraft I have purchase such as Ifly 737NG and simcheck a300-6b4.any suggestions would be appreciated

Hello, I am somewhat new to the MD-11, however have a good working knowalage. I am having one issue with the FMC. My VA has pre made routes that we must fly, however, they have already included a SID and STAR to the route. After countles hours of going through manules and trial and error, I am looking for help on here.When a SID is a part of the flight plan, how do you add a takeoff runway to the sid without having to an a SID.The other problem is the STAR, with it already being put in the plan from the start, and being part of the actual plan itself, how do u add a runway and approach to it. today I reload the md 11 and find out that there is no load manager in my desk top.

I tried to download the PMDG MD-11 this morning. I started the installer and opened the wizard it then came up with the error "unable to locate fsx.exe. Unable to install. I am not sure if this is my fault as I downloaded FSX to a different loaction then moved it back to the default loaction if this has confused the installer. Is there anyway to manually "guide" it to FSX.exe?Any help would be greatly appreciated.Scott

does anybody know where i could get the dimensions of the md11 throttle quadrant so i can have throttletek build me throttles.

I thought it was FS2Crew but just did a flight without it and got the same result...When on final approach, on full manual control, for some reason my throttles go to TOGA at about 100ft....granted, I am just below VREF, but not stalling...What am I doing wrong? and no, I am NOT pressing TOGA.

Can you please recommend me the acceptable zoom percentage for VC? People said 0.75 or 0.50 has more realistic feel, I didn't really buy it, but now I don't mind changing my mind.Thank you

If FLEX temp range is from the present TAT indication to 70C then what is the appropriate entry in the FMS? For a example, i see in the FMS manual an entry of a 38C on a specific airport. If the limit is 70C then why 38 and not an entry of 50C or even 40?

Hello,Was just wondering if anyone else has this same situation, where Comm 1 VHF1 works fine, but after about 10 min into a flight it no longer works. Freq selection is somehow disabled-active or standby. Knobs rotate, but nothing else. Going to VHF2 works ok. I am using FSX win7 and latest build. I also notice it maybe where after I change views in virtual cockpit where it stops working. Any help is appreciated. The other thing is I keep getting ILS untunnable no matter what airport I fly into. I have latest navdach and am following procedures...thanks,Steve

Hello once again,I go through the first tutorial again and I read that After Engine Start the flap setting should be 22 degrees by clicking the F7-Key twice or, from the Forward Centre Pedestal, the lever to the DIAL-A-FLAP. The confusion starts after Take Off during Climbing phase. The tutorial says "Rotate the DIAL-A-FLAP selector back to 15 degrees" I don't understand that. Why 15? I thought the flaps after take off they are retracted to neutral position. I know I am somewhere wrong but where?Thank you for ur help

Hello Captains and First Officers,after completing the two MD-11 tutorials I decided to go one more step forward making a flight from EDDF to KJFK. How can I insert NATs in the MCDU and how I can connect them with the rest of the Route. I go to the daily updated site of NATs http://pilotsweb.nas.faa.gov and I found a Track that it looks more suitable for my Atlantic crossing: BEDRA 48/20 47/30 46/40 45/50 VODOR RAFIN. The numbers I know that are co-ordinates but in what format should be entered in the FMS?Thank you all for any help

Hello,sitting at the E23 Gate at LSZH (i have the aerosoft Mega Airport Zürich) Listening to ATIS I get some strange information concerning the runways. As i see from the airport charts, the runways for LSZH are: 14 32, 16 34, 10 28 but from the scrolling ATIS text on top I hear and I see information saying: "VFR Runway in use 32" (so far so good) but after that it continiues with "32R, 30C, 20C, 15C, 10C and it continues in a such manner. All these numbers cannot be runways because Zürich does not have 32R or 30C. So what is going on?Thank you for any help
