PMDG MD-11 (Legacy Version)

Hi,I sometimes does not get autothrust,V1 and rotate callouts even though i have engaged autoflight .Today i hit the PROF in 3000 feet and then all the sudden i get , v1,rotate and autoflight announcement in 3 seconds :-)The Autothrust did not engaged during takeoff btw.I remember that it was with default panel load state so it might be something here.ThanksMichael

Hello All,I've been searching around in the forums and having a little trouble finding the info that I'm after. I just can't seem to get my Go Arounds the way I like them, mainly my speed is sky rocketing.Here's a brief sequence of events during my procedures1. Manual Flying on final (ATS engaged entire time) (Vapp), alt set for missed approach2. Decide to Go Around3. Press TOGO4. Gear Up5. Flaps 286. Using flight director7. Problems start here with speed. My speed increased very quickly (too quickly jumping to 270 very fast). I still have ATS engaged Should I press autopilot? I don't mind hand flying. MD11 requires two F2 presses on the reverser.Over this video it might be an easiest thing to explain: http://youtu.be/p-UPLIfOWSQ In the first part, you'll notice me using F2 - pressing once will put it to idle reverse, and then pressing again and holding, full reverse.If I press singularily, you get steps - all normal.In the 2nd part you'll see the strange behaviour - stuttering due to FSUIPC "pressing" Throttle 1 Decr, without a possible pause between "first click" and subsequent click.Of course, the same behaviour can be caused by pressing and holding F2, without putting the aircraft into idle reverse.I already asked Pete, FSUIPC is not able to delay the 2nd keypress.…

It seems as though the NGX has brought a lot of first time users to PMDG products, the ngx has so many cool little features, I wonder if pmdg added a little more to the MD11( ie those landing lights or an SDK so Mr.York could make a proper voice commander for the MD11), if it would create a boost in sales for this wonderful aircraft, Im not talking about a major over haul, just something to get the old girl back in the lime light for a bit. :) I think an fs2crew voice commander alone would set a spark to the sales again.

I am about to fly the London-Zurich flight as described in the MD-11 tutorial.When ready for take off I can never get the PFD indication "T/O Thrust" .There is the indication " T/O Clamp 6000" on the PFD.I repeated the set up many times and always get the same results.Does anybody know what I am missing or what I do wrong ?For the time being a have to use the keyboard ( F4 ) to advance thethrottle since my Saitek throttle console is being repaired.Could this make a difference ? Yesterday I received the aerosoft boxed version of the MD in the mail. I installed and took the bird up for a quick spin around KSFO, everything was perfect. However the next flight when I tried to configure the aircraft for takeoff, every single door indication on the EICAS was reading "open" when I switched views to see what was going on only a skeleton of the plane was visible. The fuselage would not materialize, has anyone else had this problem and solved it?Devin Mack

I realize this probably isn't the most accurate spot for this post, but this section of the forum obviously has a higher concentration of virtual MD11 pilots than anywhere else! :)Simple and to the point, what VAs are currently using the MD11 in their fleet? I was flying for KLM Virtual Airlines, but their website and ACARS wen't down while I was on approach to KSFO from EHAM.

Was performing a flight from Athens to Paris.....chose my cargo, and loaded the figures with TOPCAT...76ton of freight and 36ton of Fuel....I was in a hurry as it was getting late at night...did my preflight, pushed back and guided by Athens approach, took off.I had planned F380 but was too heavy so broke up the altidue in 360/380 steps...Found some very heavy headwinds and noticed that my right engine was consuming fuel faster than the left but the automatic fuel management was looking after it...although a few minutes into the cruise I had a closer look and noticed the tail tank was full...the system had filled it to capacity and my elevator trim was 0.7!This configurat…

I currently have the 737NGX for FSX. I also have all of the PMDG aircraft for FS9. I was thinking of purchasing the MD11 for FSX as well, but am wondering if it will mess up the NGX installation, as I know in FS9 you needed to install the aircraft in a certain order. Is that true of FSX, and do I need to uninstall the NGX, install the MD11, and then reinstall the NGX, or can I leave the NGX as is, and just install the MD11? Hope this made sense. :(

At startup, the mouse is in perpetual busy state. I see the mouse busy circle icon. The sim is functional but something is in a loop. It drives frame rates to 8 sitting idle at the gate. This happens with both the 747 and MD11. The NGX is fine.I think it has to do with a FSX default keyboard command that might be missing. Both the 747 and MD11 worked fine last week. Not sure what has changed. I did complete a reinstall of the MD11 that did not solve the problem.Any idea's.

Hi fellow MD-11 owners!I was just wondering if there's a place to download updates for the NAVAID Database, the MFCU tells me that its from JUL31AUG27/08.I was doing an approach to ENBO Norway, and using the current AIP, the STARS for RWY27 where not present in my current database!RegardsMorten Haughom

Just to make sure I got this right, the FMC calculates the fuel needed for the trip, correct? If so, is it best to use the load manager with zero fuel in the aircraft, until the FMC calculates it, and then load the fuel needed per the FMC via the drop down PMDG Fuel menu?

Hello,Im in the market for a new craft but cant really decide, now before I ask, i want to state that im not arguing pmdg price on the md-11!!!My question is, why is it so much more then the 747?? is it THAT much better then the 747??I ask as im consideringa few diffrent aircraft, and two of them are the 747 and md-11.Thank you

I just upgraded to Win 7 64bit. I installed the MD-11 and MD-11F. Now when I start FSX and try to load the MD-11, FSX just hangs and does not respond. I have to do a hard re-boot to recover the computer.Any ideas as to what is causing this?ThanksJPS

Hi everybody,If this has already been discussed, please remove it.I am a huge fan of the PMDG MD-11 but I have a question about it's Operating Empty Weight. In the aircraft configurator, it's listed as approx 124000 kg. I find this surprising because when I was F/E on DC-10 (30) some of them had a OEW of 125700 kg while the lightest was 122700 kg. Maybe I'm wrong, but how the MD-11 can be lighter than the DC-10 while being larger.Any thoughts will be appreciated.Sincerely,Pierre A

HiWhen I start the FSX with a MD11 the panel does not fill the whole screen. On the right side always stays some space.It seems that the panel doesn't fit the resolution of my screen! When I reboot the plane, the panel is ok. I play in wide screen mode and panel with 1680x1050. In the panel cfg it is witten panel size 1920. To change this does not help. And did anybody recognize that there are small white rectangles in der right upper corner of the screen? They are visible even ob the screenshots of the PMDG itself!Any ideas?THXMax

Hi all,My question is about the responce of the plane when giving rudder input to de-crab.The airplane seems not to respond to the rudder input when trying to align with the runway centerline on de-crab.However, once the main gear touches down rudder input has an immediate effect on swinging the plane's tail.But why not before touch down?Do others have the same experience?Thanks,Christos

Hello there everyone,Maybe someone could help me with this doubt I have.In MD11 during approach, sometimes if speed is high the aileron gets locked and it moves fully up or fully down so the aircraft jumps.When speed decreases, elevator gets free of movement and it can be moved up or down softly.Is this a simulated performance, is it a bug or (I doubt it) does it simulate the real aircraft?Thanks very much for your time and help.Best regards,Xiropillo

Hey guys,Was wondering if there are any plans to release an SDK for the MD-11? On the fs2crew forum people were asking for a voice version for the MD-11 and Bryan said to ask PMDG for an SDK to be released and it might happen, so I'm asking :)It would really add to the aircraft to have a voice version of FS2Crew to go with it.I think alot of people now only fly addons that support FS2Crew voice due to the level of realism and immersion it adds, so it would be beneficial to you and us to supply and SDK so this can be done.Thanks,Mark.

I have always wondered about this but never asked. I have the MD-11, NGX, and 747-400. By default the 747-400 shows all the traffic no matter what the altitude. In the NGX you can choose this as an option or you can use filter. But what about the MD-11 is there any way to display all traffic? It displays traffic that is within maybe 2500 feet above or below you but thats it. Never saw any options anywhere to change it.

So....bought the MD-11 today after months of debating....man am I happy I did. Read just enough in the manuals to get a general idea of how she acts...and wants....boy was I over confident.All went well surprisingly, up until time to capture the Loc at KLAX for 06R. Was told to maintain 4000 until established. Long story short....traffic departing at me, had to take the control...and hand fly her in. Did good, didn't damage anything...and got Her down.Anyone have any tips for capturing the Loc in this beast? Hope this question has not been answered before; While trying to paint the MD11 I noticed that there are native bump and spec maps for fuselage, tail, etc. but I couldn't find any for the engine textures. Is it possible to add those textures by mayself, or has this to be coded into the model?Thanks for your help.Tobias
