Is the real MD11 ISIS capable of displaying the flight director or the ILS bars? Does anyone know if the analogue backup instruments could do this? Thanks

Hello,When I fly a manual approach, the MD-11 seems to lock the elevators in a full up or down position. The MD-11's nose then goes up and down continuously and I have to push or pull on the controls towards the fully up or down position. I have programmed the FMC, the autothrottle is on, and the autopilot is off. This problem happens between two points in the approach, (eg. 3500 ft- 1500 ft.) This can happen numerous times in the approach. I have observed, that the elevators slowly go back to the neutral position. After the problem has stopped, I have full control again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I notice that in order to get the green box ( before take off ) the spoiler must be in the armed position. ( above the RET )Deploying the spoiler can be done by pressing the Forward Slash on the keyboard.But it is also works whenthe spoiler is in the DET position.Therefore I wonder what then is the difference between spoiler armed and spoiler in the DET position ?I read the manual but came to no conclusion.Your help is appreciatedHubert Werni

Hi all,So i'm not sure if this is a general FSX query, Window 7 or a PMDG one, but as this revolves around the PMDG MD11, i'll post it here. I recently re-installed FSX onto my PC after suffering a problem, So at the same time i thought it would be a good idea to set up a new user id just for FSX. This all went well, i had to re-install all my PMDG aircraft too, as the new installation didn't recognize them. So they are all working again, except that when i try and download from the PMDG website or browse the disc, the computer downloads the livery ok, but then it isn't appearing in my aircraft page in FSX. Hi all,I heard many great things about the MD-11X and so I bought it. I keep reading great frame rates, but on my system: Q9550 3.02Gz, 4 GB of RAM, XP with Scenery slider set to medium and no traffics, I get 13-14 FPS at KJFK, with clear weather in the VC. This is a new install of FSX with Acc. My resolution is 1680x1050. Is this typical, at a medium size airport, I get 16-18 FPS in the VC.ThanksVu

Dear allI have a small issue that is “I think” related to FMC, I am sure it’s me however,I thought to try to get some advices from you,1- After a missed approach,the FMC is like getting a reset so the flight plan disappears, no informationregarding STARs and I can’t perform the go around or holding pattern or ILS approachagain? I just found out that when I advance the throttle lever of engine 3 when the engine is not running I get no warnings like "brakes, stabilizer...". Is this normal or is it a small bug?Thanks

In the beginning of the week, I reinstalled FSX to "clean" it. I had no problems with that, but today I was going to do the first flight with the MD-11 in the new istallation, but I found a weird problem with the graphics. Here are some pics to illustrate that:This issue is, somehow, affecting all my payware aircraft. The default ones are normal. The MD-11 systems are still operative, the J41 cockpit is normal, but the displays are off and the graphics issue won't let me get in the Duke's cockpit. I duplicate the London-Zurich tutorial ( Swissair Flight ) and after entering the flight plan into the MCDUI see the following waypoints:RW27LILLI^EPMNBDT29ADET5Is there a possibility to scroll down to the next wayppoints and see them all ?I tried with the up and down arrow but that does not work.The waypoints are entered according to the flight plan from London to Zurich but only show 5 at the time.But they all appear when passing them.Is this the way the MCDU is set up ? I am about to study the Swissair Flight London-Zurich tutorial and while duplicating the flight I am running intoproblems.When ready for take off the green box appears,indicating that all is correctly configured.As the tutorial says,I then push the NAV Mode button,getting the message NavArmed on the PFD ( in Magenta )Then I engage AUTOFLIGHT and advance the throttle as explained.After 400 feet altitude I press AUTOFLIGHT again,the autopilot engages but the NavMode should indicateNAV1 ( on the PFD ) but it never does.Instead the PFD indicates Heading 272 ( in white )I also tried to take off first,engage AUTOFLIGHT and then Nav.Same result.Since I tried this about 10 times…

I posted a question related to this a few days ago but got no replies but after going to Ezca forum and blaming it on EzDok camera, it appear's it could be a PMDG MD-11X issue. When first loading my flight at the gate at wherever i get what appears to be two virtual cockpits overlaying each other and strange graphics with a green bar accross the top of the screen with the text: 'Initializing' and a countdown from about 19 seconds. After it has counted down to zero, everything is normal and i can go fly but for 19 seconds it is most anoying.The reason i believe it could be a PMDG MD-11X issue is because the suggestion came in an answer to my post which i forgot to mension …

I had a strange flight yesterday... I must admit that I did a lot of hand-flying and deviating from the route, and in the end, though I wasn't far from the magenta line and the vertical profile, CRZ mode was active all the time (I passed TOD in HDG select mode) and the systems somehow lost all approach reference data (no Vref etc.). I managed the LEPA ILS 06 by hand (who wouldn't), but now I wonder if the active FMS mode could be forced to another somehow, like if you press "DES NOW" or so in a 737NG... Looks like the MD-11 doesn't like too much "flexibility" during the flight :(

A rapid alignment (appx 3 mins) may be accomplished by moving the IRS switches from NAV to OFF, then back to NAV within 5 seconds.Realignment will then be initialized with the existing attitude and heading. Velocities will be zeroed. I this included in the PMDG MD11 X?

Hi Everybody,I've just run into this problem with my beloved MD-11: Taking off from Riyadh recently the EGT limits on all 3 engines were exceeded after takeoff N1 achieved. (Triggered level 2 cautions on all three)The conditions - airport elev: 2049' OAT: 42C !! ( Quite high but "normal" in this region) Assumed temp: 60C Air Cond: ON (FMC set accordingly) Normal takeoff procedure using AUTOFLIGHT (autothrottle). Hi, old newbie here!Just bought my MD-11X to go with my 747-400X and after several attempts to get started with the intro-flight have not moved an inch. I'm at the gate (EGLL 212) following the written instructions, but after setting the parking brake prior to push they won't release again. Tried using K/B, pedals and mouse, but when moving the curser over the brake lever it remains an arrow and neither left nor right clicking will release it.Can anyone help with this please?ThanksLinden Crundall

Hoi guys...After several flights now with the lovely PMDG MD11 i want to go deeper with programming the FMS especially the wind data. after entering the wind in the F-PLN page 2 for each waypoint, the FMS shows only the winds from the upper, lets say i´m flyin currently on FL320 but have to climb FL340, so the FMS shows only the inserted data from FL340. is there a "primary sytem advice" needed or something that? what do i wrong or maybe its all correct? many thanks in advance.

This seems not to be related specifically to PMDG Md-11 rather than a general discussion. However, i was planing a flight with the MD-11 freighter from El-Alto Intl, La Paz - Bolivia (ICAO: SLLP) with elevation of around 13300ft to Mariscal Sucre Intl, Quito - Ecuador with elevation around 9200ft.When i try to Take Off it takes barely the whole rwy to rotate, and when try to climb the plane stalls and fall eventually, Considering the rising terrain in the Take Off path.I already know that in such high altitudes we have less density air (Hot and High) so i didn't use any thrust reductions.My Take Off Configuration was as follows:- Load: Full - Fuel: 88.0 lbs- TOGW: 507.5 l…

I have problem with RNAV &/or VOR approaches. I use the latest AIRAC(1107), when i go to STAR menu, i can choose RNAV (ex:VORD10 for TNCM) i put 701 in MIN PROF as it requiered the DA in chart. But i'm always too high to reach the runway.The fixs are matching to the RNAV procedure (speed & ALT). If i try on MHTG, the FMS says error on altitude &/or speed when crossing fixs. I have been wanting to ask this for awhile and have never gotten around to it.On Page 21 of "Tutorial Flight 1" under "Take-off" it gives details of what to do, what sounds to listen for and what to observe on the FMA. This is for a PW engine and specifically it talks about the EPR reading and at what point you should hear a certain sound.The GE engine does not have EPR so you can not use this procedure. I have looked around and could not find anything regarding how to advance the throttles for a GE engine plus when you should expect to hear the same sounds and observe the same readings on the FMA as the tutorial discusses for the PW engine.
