Hello All, I just noticed something very strange on the last couple of my flights. When I deploy the speedbreak the right side (FO) does not come up. I did notice that the handle goes into the "full" position. Same things happens when the spoilers deploy on landing. I attached a screenshot. Let me know if it's too hard to see. Any ideas? Just had a TCAS2v7.dll app crash on short final after a 6 hour test flight! Ouch! I was using AS2012 wx + full UT2 traffic at a medium busy airfield in heavy wx with low ceilings and rain. But I was displaying 35-40 fps at the time of the lockup. ??? Fortunately I had saved the flight at a previous approach fix so was able to refly it and this time without incident. Folks, I am very new to this aircraft. Is this TCAS2v7.dll crash a common event or is it just one of those random FSX messups that we all have on occasion?

I have resolved most of the issues I have had as a newbe with this simulation. So far all were because I had misinterpreted the FCOM, but this last issue has persisted. Here it is: On takeoff with everything set and checked, I arm NAV, then arm PROFILE, and lastely press AUTOFLIGHT. I am showing TKOF CLAMP on the PFD. I advance throttles to 75% but nothing happens. I push throttles further...still nothing. The FCOM states that the ATS should kick in and advance throttles to the preselected TKOF setting. Everything is set correctly in the FMC and I have completed all the tests and setups. I am either going to run out of runway attempting to takeoff with 75% pow…

This morning when I fired up FSX (I use the default tryke with engine off as my startup file) then loaded a model of MD-11. After moving it to the gate of my departure airport, I noticed that everything was powered up so I loaded the "cold and dark" panel. So far no problems. I started battery and opened CDU to request EXT power and then activated EXT power on the overhead. I initiated ENG/APU fire test and then (according to the FCOM) then next item is the ANNUN LT TEST. I tried the test but nothing was showing up on the SD as active (since I had no airflow). I did notice, however, that the engines in the diagram showed over 110C which but they were off. I next …

I noticed on two separate landings that after I went to idle reverse and then tried to deactivate the autobrakes by tapping the foot brakes as I always did in Boeings, nothing happened. I use a keyboard and have always used the FSX default brake keys * and - on the numeric keypad. They seem to work correctly on taxi before takeoff but after landing they won't activate. I checked my brakes and hydraulics and all was in order so I am puzzled. I had to set parking brakes and then unset them in order to cancel the autobrakes from holding the plane at stop. Hey folks, I need some help again. How do you drop from full FMS control back to just autopilot on the MD-11. I have read the manuals and the implication is that I should be able to disconnect NAV and PROFILE (FMS control) directly on the AP panel by activating HD SEL which I was able to consistently do to disconnect NAV but when I tried to disconnect FMS speed control I only was able to change the reference mark on the PDF speed tape but the plane continued to maintain the FMS speed. How do I undo it? The same problem with altitude. I understand that PUSHING the ALT button puts AP in ALT HLD mode and that PULLING the ALT HLD button after selecting a new altitude …

Just a quick question as am studying to bring myself up to speed on my newly purchased MD-11: There seems to be no way to fly a Localizer BC approach except manually. I understand that this is an approach procedure that is being replaced by GPS/GNSS but there are still many airports throughout the world that have published LocBC approaches. If I recall, the old DC-10 had a BC selector on the MCP, so did the MD80's. I am surprised that the MD-11 does not. The B737-800 is much more recently developed and yet it has the ability to reverse track a localizer raw data so there must still be a market demand for such capabilty in the eyes of Boeing. Hi PMDG and other members, Iam looking at buying the MD11 today as I loved the NGX so much, but can you tell me how much it will cost me in the UK in pounds. I no the Md11 is $60 and that converted is about £40 here or there so is that how much I will pay or is there a conversion fee or anything else like that? After reading the PMDG 777 forum and the many praises of the MD-11, I decided to purchase it. I have PMDG B744/737NG and have enjoyed the level of system complexity. In reading the MD-11 docs, it seems this also has the same PMDG complexity quality but I do not use a hardware controller, only a mouse. The documentation seems to imply that I need a joystick to use the program. I have no interest in that since the RW MD-11 uses a yoke not a joystick. I am a real world retired pilot with over 40 years experience so I already know how to fly an airplane...no thrill in simulating that, but I still enjoy learning and practicing the complex systems that PMDG has been ab…

When autoland is properly engaged, sometimes the AP will disengage when nearing touchdown. Not a big deal > it helps to hone reflexes and teach flexibility ~ however, can anyone tell me what circumstances (wx conditions, etc) cause this behavior. My controllers are not spiking and I've had the correct ILS freqs set in all cases. Best to all, Ken

It is some time since I used the MD11 but now after a long pause I decided to re-install the prog. Everything seemed to go well, update to v1.2? all o/k. On opening FS9 and going to 2D cockpit view there is no cockpit!. All I get is a dummy panel and a Main panel in reduced window size. The main panel has no 'see through' windows. When I click on a 'hotspot' the selected panel appears behind the Main Panel. All panels are undockable. When undocked I am left with a cockpit view sans cockpit. VC seems to work o/k but navigation in side this view is terrible. Frustrated as I prefer to fly with 2D cockpit.

Hi I am not an expert in civilian airliners. Always been a military flier, but I purchased the MD-11 as I love it in real life. My issue is the aircraft is not flying waypoint to waypoint, like I would expect but rather taking some shortcuts. I have attached a picture of the ND from the approach and you can see that it's not flying over the waypoints one after another. Is there a way I can stop this behaviour? It's resulting in the A/C being well above the glide slope and causing a violent pitching down on rollout. Colin W Edit, No permission to upload the screenshot

So I installed PMDG MD-11. I thought, yeah!!! I started fsx. Then there was a error message: Scenery read error. Attempting to open a nonexistent directory: c\program files (x86)\microsoft games\microsoft flight simulatorx/texture. Click OK to continue. So i clicked ok, but my fsx crashes every time!!! I have uninstalled it already and i dont want this anymore. I have many addons. Can anybody help me please? I will be glad if you can! Thankyou for your time. Robandium

Hey folks, Currently I use fs2crew with this bird and looking into getting FSC, I am trying the demo, but cannot get the mcdu to display - possibly due to the 49 window thing? - when I install it using the FSC acars installer, the acars gauge goes into "50" FCDU" but it does not display, - is this because I have already reached my "49 windows" How do others configure this? - I have it installed in the caravan 208 and it seems to work ok. I will also post this in the fs2crew forum, to try get more hits

Hi, all I just bought the PMDG MD-11 and I tried to download the Swissair classic livery from the PMDG website as per the tutorial flight 1. But when I did my virus software notified me that it contained a virus a deleted it. I tried some others then and they were all fine and installed no problem. Any thoughts?

I have returned to the MD-11 after more than a year and to get into the saddle again I wanted to go through the tutorials again. I have come no further than tutorial #1 and its driving me nuts. Odd things happen that I do not remember having before now. I am doing tutorial #1 by the book, but I get overspeed every time at almost the same spot climbing to cruise level. I have a registered FSUIPC of the latest version with winds, pressure and turbulence disabled as I remember this could be a problem. Also winds aloft, turbulence and thermals disabled in FSX Acceleration. The overspeed also occur with and without controllers enabled. I feel that I am missing someth…

Firstly WOW, I bought Turbine sound studios HD PW sound pack and its brought a whole new life to the mighty PMDG MD11. For the tiny cost (£10 or so) its well worth the money, couple that with my quality Harman Kardon sound setup and its unreal. I find myself doing engine starts over and over. lol. Hello, Afte some tiem i am trying to refine my MD11 knowladge and skills. So reading FMC manual i found out about those CLB THRUST and ACCEL altitudes. After some time I tried one flight and I tried to alter those values mentioned above but what ever I input I get error OUT OF RANGE or soemthing like that....so I am confused as I follow the manual and I am not typing in altitued that are said in manual that are minimums that is 1000ft above ground...so I am confused since nowhere I cant found what is caousing this error and confused since i did not violate minimums prescribed in manual.
