As you know to better fit realism during long haul flight planning you have to insert winds aloft data into FMC to achieve better fuel consuption accuracy prediction. I always do it manually. But it's an annoing operation. 777X has a special function to import this kind of data. So, in your opinion is there a workaround to achieve the same result with MD11? It would be a useful feature, what do you think?

I've been flying the MD-11 for a few years now. I learned to fly it using the tutorial. While in-flight last night, I realized the manual never talked about pitot probe heat. I looked all over and I can't find the switch. Is pitot heat automatic?

I have been unable to get the audible morris code identification for NDB, VOR, or ILS stations on the MD11. I have turned on the buttons for the VOR1, ADF1 on all the radios but have never been able to hear a morris code ID broadcast. I have the Marker button turned on and I DO HEAR the marker beacon when I pass over it but no nav radios. Any suggestions?

Hello guys I fly this plane since more one year, i tested the 737NGX and the newer 777 and... i like too but for me they are not better than my favorite MD-11 On ivao network, with so many weather condition and ATC restriction, i do only one go around because i was unable to see the runway at my MDA alt in winter.I think this is great plane and secure plane too. I don't know well the story of the MD-11, just he does his first fly on 1990 and when boeing bought Mcdonnel Douglas they don't follow the livreries.So i think this plane isn't a lucky plane.He is more newer in technologies navigation than the young 777-200.So can anyone explain me with précision th…

Hello, This is not an airport I have used for a long time. The other night I did a flight to KEWR and on selecting arrivals page in FMC I noticed all the runway ILS are now GLS. I am using MS default airport, and on selecting RW22GLS the next page under this heading showed Min.Prof---------ft. If you don't put an altitude into this space, the insert button to transfer the data into the route will not take place. I appreciate this might be a Navigraph AIRAC issue, but I wondered if anyone else has come across this.Richard Welsh.

Hi all, I've posted this problem a while back. Last night, my brother and I did a flight and he was flying the PMDG MD-11. After touch down, or landing, he said the Auto-Brakes would not release as he was rolling down the runway. I've had the exact same problem the last time I flew the PMDG MD-11. The autobrakes are usually set to Minimum before landing. What happens is that after touchdown and stowing the thrust reversers, the airplane continues to slow down and comes to a complete stop. Hi , When started the installation displayed the following error : " FS9 Version 9.1.0.40901 (FS9.1 at least) required .You only have FS9 Version 9.0.0.30612 installed.Please install FS9.1 or later to use this product. " The version of my FS2004 is 9.1 too , why? Thank you very much

Hi avsims, Now i am in the final stage of my home cockpit. (After completely finishing i will upload my pic's). I have problem in the pmdg md-11, i cannot click on the PFD, ND, and ECAS to undock and drag them into their places in the main instrument plate.(only one choice you can undock and drag it). The problem is i cannot leave this aircraft, its my life in the simulation so i cannot leave it anyway and after nearly i finish i cannot do it. I just got the MD11 about a week or so ago, I am just loving it! The only problem I am having is that the auto brakes do not apply when landing. In the Aircraft CFG file, there is a 1 next to autobrakes, I even tried putting a 0 there and same problem. I am using FSX and Windows7

Greetings, If one chooses to land the md-11 manual, after roll out the flight director displays [ v2 thrust | Heading ] I cannot find a way to reset the autopilot to Pitch Takeoff mode. I understand that it will do this automatically provided I allow it to do a CatIII or II landing…. But even on the ground, if one clicks the heading button and the IAS button, the flight director displays [ thrust | heading ] in favor of [ Pitch | Takeoff ] - that all makes sense and that’s fine – but what’s the secret password to get the autopilot into pitch takeoff mode? Hey Guys, first let me make it clear that I disabled all failures in the PMDG menu, so that shouldn't be the reason. I've encountered the following problem quite recently on two flights (YBBN-KLAX and PHNL-KLAX) while on the approach on RWY 6L and 7R. As soon as I lower the landing gear I get a "HYD 3 PRES LO" (see attached screenshot) message thus preventing me from lowering the nose and main landing gears, only the center one comes down. If I follow the abnormal procedure to repressurize system 3 nothing happens and I'm forced to follow the "HYD 3 FAIL" procedure. After that I was able to safely land the aircraft in LAX both times. Hello, I am getting a 0x800c0005 error while trying to validate the PMDG MD-11. After corresponding with the PMDG ticket support staff for a week, I got the conclusion that I should reinstall Windows, in order to fix my error. Of course this would be the last option for me, as reinstalling would take an enormous amount of time which I really don't have at the moment. I'm running Windows 7 64bit and never had this error before. I also tried these tips (http://support.precisionmanuals.com/KB/a20/error-number-0x800c0005-during-install.aspx), but they didn't work for me, as some of those .dlls don't seem to be included with Windows 7 and therefore can't be reregi…

Hi, I was having a flight today and as I got closer to T/D I noticed T/C appeared ahead of it on the F-PLN page.This prevented me from descending with the FMC and I then had to descend manually, not a big deal. Does anybody know why this appeared or how I could have deleted it? I tried but couldn't get rid of it. I was flying at FL360, it stated FL 365 in the FMC. I would guess it was some sort of set climb. Can anybody shed any light on this. So I can prevent this in the future. I think I'm having a very bad night tonight. About an hour ago, I had a CTD in my PMDG 747-400 while descending for Dubai, after flying for over 5 hours from Frankfurt. Now I've encountered another fun error. I figured I'd fly my MD-11 from Amsterdam to Saint Maarten, and when I pulled up the load manager, I saw some fun ZFWCG's and TOCG's. Here's a screenshot of what kind of amazing measures the MD-11 Load Manager gave me: http://tinypic.com/r/2dsn3fd/5 The funny thing is, in the cargo version the CG's are perfectly normal. But in the passenger variant, the CG's are a little bit off. Any ideas?

While enroute at cruise level I encountered conflicting traffic and rather than waiting for TCAS RA I just thought to alter my course a few degrees to the right so I dialed in a divergence heading in the heading window and then PULLED the switch which should (by the FCOM) had taken me out of NAV and put me into HDG SEL and commanded the airplane to turn to the selected heading. Well it turned all right, but in the OPPOSITE direction and right into traffic. After taking manual control to avoid collision, I pressed NAV to have the aircraft resume the flight plan course which it did correctly. Ok, folks! So now I am becoming an MD-11 junkie, having spent two days diligently studying the manuals and following along to construct my first takeoff. Everything was followed meticulously according to the FCOM procedures but I encountered two inconsistencies: 1. When I try to release the parking brakes, the standard "." keyboard key does not release them. The only way seems to be to apply a quick press of manual brakes. I can deal with it but the documentation seems to indicate that "." would work. 2. Hello, I started my flight from CYUL to EDDF just 20 min ago. After takeoff my elevator started to jam. I putted autopilot on and they worked again. I took the AP off and nothing happens when I pull up or down. On ground I did a succesful flight control check and now in the air the config page doesn't show that elevator is moving(unless AP is on). Also I noticed that if I disconnect the AP and after that hold the "Z" key(AP disconnect switch) the elevators work properly untill I relase the key. Any ideas what an earth is going on? Something very strange, there were a few of us flying the UK event on vatsim, and we all experienced the same. Runway in use was 08R, star was Timba 3E with Timba transition. As soon as we entered the transition, the sim would hang and crash. Every single time. I ended up entering the waypoints of the star manually one by one and it worked fine. Is there a corruption with this particular star? Has anyone else had this problem? It happened to two of us flying MD 11s. Sent from my Mobile thing
