PMDG MD-11 (Legacy Version)

Hi PMDG Fans,a very neat feature is to change the LEDs of the panels from the normal color to something like maroon color - works perfect with all the main panels and displays like: Heading, Speed and Altitude, but if you open the communication panel, the displays are not changing to the night illumination. They stay as they are during day flights.Any clues to overcome this?Regards,Manfred

Hi PMDG-Team,I recently purchased the MD-11 for FSX and try to make my way through Tutorial #1. My problem is, that for some reason I can't save in the Save Panel State Menu. Every time I try to enter a new file name, I get the error message 'can not create file' and FSX itself unfortunately doesn't save the current panel state along with a savegame. I followed the tutorial step by step and everything worked fine till page 16, when my MD-11 stopped after pushback and another aircraft ran into me. Maybe I needed to long for engine starting process, but it's my first time ever to fly a heavy aircraft anyway. How to fix the panel state issue? Don't want to do whole setup aga…

Gentlemen (and Ladies)Try this one! Flying from EHAM to KSFO with an alternate of KOAK, about 10:50 hr flight time. About 8 hrs into the flight and all is well, I'm not flying with ATC so I've set up the approach and landing to KSFO, a GOLDEN GATE FIVE with my own vectors to an ILS on RWY 28L. At this point bed time has arrived so with everything set (including pause at TOD) I toddle of to bed. Up early to get the flight underway I find that pause at TOD has worked as advertised. However, the FMC hasn't, my flight plan, STAR and ILS approach to KSFO has disappeared and I'm heading straight for KOAK. Oh dear what a muddle and despite my best efforts I was unable to recover…

Hey guys,I have really been enjoying the PMDG MD-11. I attempted to conduct a mission from PHNL to RJAA the other day and had problems entering the LAT's and LON's into the FMC. According to the manual I should input NXXWXXX. I tried putting in N25W170 and the FMC gave me a "Not In Database" warning. What amd I doing wrong?Thank you for your assistance.GCP

I've been flying the MD-11 for about two months now. Having great fun with it! But there is (was) one thing that annoyed me more and more and this morning I even thought about posting something about it on this forum: if PMDG could please, please, please do something about it. The thing is (was) that the VC yoke blocked too much of my view. The lower parts of the PFD and ND were blocked. Luckily I have a TrackIR so looking around the yoke was not too hard, but still... it annoyed me. Specially during take off where I need to keep an eye on the radar alt to see if I could already enable the AP (at 400) and PROF (at 1500). But also during other phases of the flight it annoy…

I know others and myself would very much like to start painting the MD11 for FS9 in our VA's colors, as well as our favorite liveries. When can we expect to see the paint kit for this bird? Hi all, hi PMDG,Is anyone of you guys experiencing the follow behaviour? After having started the MD-11, it sometimes starts to jump on the ground. It does one single jump just a few inches of the ground or so and you see the touchdown smoke as well, when it hits the ground again. This behaviour continues sporadically. Let's say, maybe 2-4 times a minute. It usually happens when changing views and gets less (I mean 1-2 times every 5 minutes until it disappears most of the times), when remaining in any particular. Issue:A/C weight 260 tons, clean config, speed near the amber foot: if you now fly a turn with 30 deg bank maitaining level flight, the amber foot is not moving up (towards a higher min speed) at all.I have tried different configs, but it is not moving. Only after passing 45 deg bank I notice a reaction of the amber foot.I think there is a little bug here.RGDSTOM

Hi all. I was wondering where I would be able to change the weight of the pallets for the cargo for the md-11 in fsx. I want to do this cause I liked the weights better before the patch came out and made everything super heavy. I was also wondering if we would be able to change the weights of the pallets through the load planner in the next patch? If its not too much to ask for, please :( ?

When planning a descent with a strong tailwind i always insert the wind direction\speed in the forecast page but i always end up with overspeed and\or an insane vertical speed. It`s as if the FMS ignores the wind speeds entered when the vertical profile is calculated. Anyone else experience this?RgdsKevin

inside the FMC of NG737 & QoS 747-400 the key-input for a slash is on my german keyboard set to the "minus/underscore" key. this is ok and i learned and live with this input-feature.now inside of the FMC of the MD-11 it's changed to the "number-sign/apostroph" key. is there any way to change it so that the input is on the same kay as on the other ones?thanks 4 an answer

Not expecting a responce, just a heads up for the guy's creating the next patch.I fly with the virtual cockpit and 2D sub panels undocked to 2 seperate monitors. All is well except the Glareshield (Autopilot, EFIS controls etc)The problem is the Digits do not move on the undocked autopilot panel when in VC, they only move when I go back to the 2D cockpit.So to clarify, if I set an altitude of 35000ft while in the VC the altitude will not update in the undocked panel (it will update on the VC Panel) when I switch back to the 2D panel, the undocked panel will then update to 35000ftnot a big deal as I can still see any heading and altitude modifications on the PFD but th…

Hello Capt'sI have this wonderful MD-11 and it works perfect, there is one thing that is missing in my case and that is the lightening of the passengers cabin and the overall lightning of the cockpit.I have turned around all the knobs on the Lightning panel but alas.When I look outside at night the passengers cabin and cockpit are not lighted.Especially in the VC mode I can not see any more. The instrument panel is lighted but the rest is dark, incl the pedestal. Even if I use the L key it remains the same.What am I missing?????Carlos Oosterling

Hi everyone, I've been having an issue with the MD-11 for a while now. I've been through the tutorial 5/6 times already, and I'm struggling to find a solution. I'm doing the flight from EGLL-LSZH and everything is going smoothly, I cross the top of descent fix, and begin descending. According to the tutorial, the aircraft levels off at 10000ft to meet the 250kts speed restriction, there is a 10000/250kts fix on the PFD showing the point where I reach 10000, however, the aircraft just goes straight through it and continues to cross 10000 at some 320kts! I somehow can't figure out what's the use of entering more than one alt in the CRZ LEVELS entry on the INIT page. I tried to fly a real life plan for the first time today (EGSS-LFPG: N0455F170 LYD G27 WAFFU/N0490F230 M605 XIDIL UM605 DP) and entered 170/230 into that part of the INIT page, but the plane only noticed that FL170 and stayed there all the time... So... what's the use of adding more FL levels...? The FMS manual didn't help me...

I don't fully understand the purpose of this switch on the elec panel: abnormal procedures say it's used if smoke is detected, the switch is turned from one position to another, and flight crew looks whether smoke situation improves or not. So far I can follow, but why is a certain elec. bus shut off together with a pack with another number (the labels on the switch are like "1/3" or so) where I assume the switched off elec bus doesn't power that pack?Furthermore, is smoke simulated so this switch would be of some meaning in the sim?Andreas

I just recently bought the MD-11 (FS9) and the strobe lights will not come on. I have searched the forum, and have not been able to find anyone with the same problem. Should I uninstall and reinstall? It seems to be just the MD-11 by the way.

When I arm nav and the plane is still on ground, I can exit that by pulling the heading knob, but I found no way to disable an armed perf mode. Is that possible after takeoff only by e.g. selecting v/s or flch?Andreas
