I have flown the MD11 tutorial severaltime using the Company Route (EGLLLSZH001) provided. However it appears that routes I have used flying the B737' are not compatible with the MD11. Is there a 'Route Planner' avaiable that is compatible with the MD11. I have used FSbuild till now.RegardsKeith Batchelor

Hi all.How can I fly the MD-11 using VHF Nav equippment as a navigation source? This is what I do: I tune a specific VOR station on NAV/RAD FMC page, and select a desired radial, then I select the *VOR ARM (white VOR ARMED message appears on FMA), but The plane overshoots the radial. That happends flying either HDG o FMS NAV selected mode until radial to capture. The aircraft continues route or heading without capture. Other way I tried was activating on MENU FMC page the NAV/RAD feature, with same negative results. Any help? Thank you.

I know, there's a statement in the manual that a tutorial for ballast fuel will come, but is there some information source about the fuel system in some more depth than the manual describes in the meantime? I don't know how informative the ballast fuel manual will be...I have the impression that the fuel system is one of the most complex systems in the MD-11, especially together with the shifting CG, and I'd like to get an idea how to manage fuel and CG by hand in manual mode during an entire flight. Let alone the ballast fuel feature, I played a little with it and have not found a pattern what the logics do when entering ballast amounts for different configurations, the …

Hello Everyone - First, please don't flame on me because I have been searching this forum for the past hour with no luck. I have the FSX version of the MD-11. I am running Vista Ultimate, x64. FSX is patched to SP2, and the only add-on anything I have is the MD-11. At night, when using the landing and taxi lights, they are on, but they are offset ahead and to the right of the airplane what appears to be several feet. I can't seem to find any posts with this problem here...people talk about it being faint, or not visible at all...mine looks perfectly normal, just offset ahead and to the right. Is there a solution? Or will the updates soon to be released address the …

Ok after spending a good few weeks practising abnormals in the MD11 I'm finaly converted to flying this work of art full time :( But hopefully someone can answer something that has bugged me on the 744 all this time. for some reason MCT thrust gives me a higher N1 or EPR then TOGA thrust, obviously this is wrong, can anyone confirm they are also seeing this?CheersRob Prest

Ok, so saved up (took me along time) $79.99 and bought the MD-11 for FS9. I get it into FS9 installs fine and everything and I go an fly in the VC and the VC guages arn't very smooth. So I go to the menu an do the perfromance tuning thing, cranked it up there to like 100 FPS. Still the guages arn't smooth. I can be getting 50-60 FPS in FS9 an the arn't smooth at all, comparing to the 744. My 744 is smooth as hell.I'm a NO 2D guy, have to fly from the VC or I don't fly. I feel like I wasted money if I can't get them smooth VC guages. Can somebody please help me. It was either the Frieghter for the 744 or the MD-11 and I couldn't get both so I got the MD-11 and I feel like …

Hi All,Ok, I know there is a reason for my troubles and most certainly doing something wrong - but I know someone out here has the right answer! After my rotation in the MD-11, (400 ft off the deck) I go to engage autoflight to keep runway heading and get a steady climb, but as soon as I do this the plane pitches way up, about 4000 FPM and I have to quickly set the v/s back down to something more desirable. How do I ensure a smooth autoflight engage? Thanks in advance captainsBlake

Following a hitch with the reinstall of the 737 I ran the Remove Tool, which as well as removing the 737 from my machine also removed the 747 and MD11 Load Managers. Dead icons on the desktop and gone from the PMDG base folder. The 747 I have got from my cd version but the MD11 (download version) is giving me trouble.Rather too hastily I uninstalled the MD11 - instead of trying a "Repair" and now can

Captains,Departing BFI tonight, I was assigned rnwy heading for departure. On takeoff the wind got gusty and while trying to clean everything up, I deviated to the right 30 degrees coming to a heading of 160. Selecting AP and pulling the heading knob for a 130 heading, the aircraft proceeded to turn RIGHT all the way around to 130. I have seen a topic regarding this same issue to haven't been able to locate it. Has anyone had the same issue and been able to fix it? Definitely caught me off guard.ThanksShawn

On the last several flights, I enter a flight level into the INIT page of the FMS. This current flight, I entered 350. After ATC clears me to my cruise altitude, I select 35,000 on the MCP and let the autoflight system take me there. Upon reaching FL350, I look at the "PERF" FMS page and it shows a climb page (not a cruise page as you would expect). I go to the INIT page and low and behold, it shows my selected Flight Level as 360, thus I haven't reached my desired flight level in the FMS' mind. This has happened on several occasions (adding 1,000 to my selected cruise level). My first thought was that it was correcting for my direction of flight, but no, I'm flying…

The FMS manual says: "The TOCG is accurately computed by the fuel quantity gauging system (FQGS) provided an accurate ZFWCG and TOGW are entered by the pilot."When I don't enter TOCG, it won't get computed neither with engines off nor with engines running, see attached screenshot (picture shows situation with engines off but is very similar with all engines running, the boxes are present then as well). I tried with both TOGW entered by myself (big font, as in the screenshot) and TOGW calculated, no difference. What do I miss here?Andreas

When I open the MD-11 load manager, load my pax/cargo load and fuel, and then "save", the fuel load is not showing up in a newly created flight? I'm FS9, BTW. My understanding of the load manager was that fuel would not be loaded into a "saved flight" but would be loaded into a newly created MD-11 flight? This does not seem to be happening...or have I misunderstood? Victor Buck

Hello, I recently re-installed Vista on my computer. Now I have a problem; when using the MD11, FSX freezes after 2-3 min, pushing the windows button there is a propt screen saying "your computer has run out of availible memory" please re-start the application, then FSX shuts down. Has anybody else experienced this? Is there a solution? Im having a high end computer with 4GB RAM, that should be sufficient? Using FSX Acceleration SP2.Best regardsJohan Helgesson

I please need some explanation of the takeoff mode.My understanding that there are two "sub" modes of takeoff mode, namely the lateral and the vertical takeoff modes. The FD under normal circumstances goes to takeoff mode(s) on ground (details what requirements are to be met are in the airplane systems manual). Here I do have the first problem: I can see a lateral takeoff mode on the PFD ("TAKEOFF"), but speed and altitude annunciations are always PITCH and T/O CLAMP before initiating the takeoff roll, so I have no visual indication of any vertical takeoff mode. After takeoff, speed annunciation is still PITCH and altitude is T/O CLAMP, I can now exit the lateral takeoff mo…

Good Afternoon,I've just tried to set up a flight two times with the MD-11, and on both occasions FS9 has frozen when selecting <SIDS on LSK1R. My departure is LFPG, and Im with the 0902 airac. Problems and Solutions in Vista 32bit shows that PMDG_MD11.GAU is causing the crash.I'm quite sure that I have had this problem before, but never reported it.Thanks in advance for any help.

After searching the manuals and these forums, I'm still a bit unsure about MD-11 step climbs (or 747, for that matter). I know, now, how the 747 and MD-11 FMC/FMS and the autoflight is used to perform these step climbs. What I'm unsure of is how to pre-plan for them. I've read about the copyright issues with fuel planning documents and Boeing (which seems wacky but...it's their proprietary info so...). So, the first issue , to me, is there seems to be no actual way to pre-plan a flight in the areas of fuel planning and step climbs...without actually being in FS9 and having the MD-11 loaded. Not a major issue. But, how does one know how many steps to enter in the MD-11 FMS…

Hey Guys,Just spent the last 2 hours searching this forum and the manual for a solution to my problem....trawled youtube to see if I was really having a problem!Anyway, here goes....MD11....Lights....Beacon and Strobes....are on my model anway not working very well!Let me try to explain, the beacon does not flash but merely goes off and on.....it doesnt even rotate (proboble shouldnt anyway?) ...it looks really bad. The strobes go off and on..., like the beacon..no flashes here. I must be missing something, the lights should be better than this. The strobes and beacons in the PMDG737/PMDG747 work fine! They work like they should. The whole situation seems as if on this p…

I see that when saving a situation in FS and then re-loading it directly after starting FS9, the MD-11 seems to correctly initialize the panel state (except of fuel load, as reported by the loading tool). Is the procedure of loading an FS situation (with the MD-11 as plane) any time correct? Is functionality preserved e.g. when resetting a situation and not loading it again?Andreas

I am thinking about getting the MD-11 for FS2004 when it is released on CD-ROM. I use a dozen GoFlight modules in FS (under Windows XP Home Ed) including the MCP PRO and the GoFlight EFIS modules. Will any of this stuff work with the MD-11? Appreciate any info, thanks!Jonathan
